I've only had the box for about a week but I do have 8 cats and regular litter boxes set up still. They seem to prefer using this box though. I didn't want a covered box and I didn't want to pay $300+ on a litter robot so I wanted to give this one a try. You definitely can't over fill it, that will cause problems. You have to top off the litter occasionally. I've emptied it twice in the last week and with 8 cats that's pretty great. The trash bags are a little too big for the catcher so that's a little annoying but I can also probably use any time of small bag I want to like grocery bags. I'm using the hard ball clumping litter which I really like. The litter doesn't leave a bunch of small pieces behind. So I think the type of litter you use really matters. So far so good. I'm sure eventually the motor will stop working but who knows how long that'll be. ... show more

The item is a thin flimsy plastic. The rake does not fully drag/scoop the material. The waste container collects litter that will need to be cleaned out by vacuum or hand as it falls under the "waste basket". I am constantly having to clean the rake of debris. 10/10 would not recommend and a complete waste of money. I would rather scoop the box daily then deal with the clean up of this item as it takes just as long or longer. ... show more

I've been using the smart scoop litter box for my Sphynx kitten, and it's been a game changer in managing litter box maintenance.     • It is the cheapest for a reason.
It was fairly easy to assemble. Cheaper plastic basin and long, which is fine. But even with proper set up, the scoop bar doesn't get to the bottom of the tray and misses stuff. It also doesn't get to the end of the tray and misses stuff there. Our cats took to it fine, despite being used to CatGenies. It doesn't have high walls and a cat that urinates to the side instead of straight down will likely get your floor messy. A wall or some cover feature would be nice. You have to buy litter, bags for it (most shipping bags are too small), and still manually clean parts of it. It is, over all, not worth it. CatGenies are more expensive initially, but you do save money without using litter. We also have six cats, so that mean it needs a good amount of litter each day. After maybe two weeks of using it, it also started glitching out where it would scoop to the end, then go back and forth repetitiously for a few inches. I cleaned around it, but the main way to fix this error was to manually replace it. ... show more

Hello, I know this doesn't have the greatest reviews but, I bought mine in May of 2023 and still going just fine. Im not saying it's perfect. Its a little loud when cycling. For under $200 it's blows the competition out of the water, period. Who who wants to pay $500 to $800 for a crap box?

Does not work that well. Rake does not get to the bottom of the pan, close to the sides or at the end prior to dumping. If your cat does its business in the middle of the pan, then it may meet your needs. Not worth the money I paid.
