  • Color today (awesome) highlights tomorrow!!
My hair is light brown (blonde when I was younger), with white at the temples and white/gray about 35% evenly distributed throughout my hair. I root color every 6 weeks or so, mostly when the white shows even through color touch up spray. This product is amazing! I followed the instructions for the most part. I start strong but by the end I usually look like I’ve been electrocuted and I’m over the process. I spend about 3 minutes after I’ve applied the color and just massage the color through my hair. I don’t usually run it through to the ends, just to preserve the ends from over processing over time. I also let it sit for an extra 5-7 minutes to ensure best saturation. I shower to rinse because I feel like it does a better job than rinsing in the sink. I let the water rinse it out for about 8 minutes and then apply the conditioner. I dry with 1800 hair dryer and swoop the ends under with a flat iron. I give the step by step to emphasize that I’m not doing anything different than anyone else buying this off the shelf. I’m not trained and I haven’t been doing this for years; I’m always a little skeptical about rave reviews but maybe that’s just me. Anyway, I am surprisingly happy with the results! The pictures show color coverage, blend, and gray coverage. If there was the slightest miss, it’s in the tiny little white that still shows just below my temple. I actually don’t hate a little showing. I’d say get this if you’re looking to get into home coloring. I’m doing a highlight kit tomorrow...stand by! ... show more

  • Absolutely perfect
I used just ONE box to dye a 10” closure, 12” bundle and 14” bundle of 613 hair. It was my first time ever dyeing bundles, but I’m thrilled with how they turned out. Everyone on youtube suggested this dye for 613 hair and you just can’t beat the price. I never really wash my bundles (gross I know, but I like only wear them once or twice) so I can’t say how long the dye lasts. What I did was cowash the hair with the conditioner in the box first and then first put the dye on the roots of the closure. Again I did *not* know what I was doing lol. Then I put half the dye on the bundles while they were still wrapped and worked it through with my hands, without combing it through. Then I went back to the closure and combed all the dye through evenly after giving the first round of dye to sit while I was working on the bundles. Once that was all even I went back to the bundles, unrolled them, put the remaining half of the bottle on them, worked it through with my hands on both and then combed it through each strand. I rinsed the closure out first, in the sink with the most amount of water pressure and only rinsed for about three minutes. Then rinsed each bundle for three minutes and then went back and rinsed all the dye out of each one. By doing everything in batches and unevenly it left behind a bunch of different colors and made it look so natural. If you let it sit longer than 30 minutes it will start to turn a way different color than blonde haha so beware. You can see the roots on the closure look much darker because they had dye on them for the longest period of time, but even though that was an accident I think it looks even better haha. And when you put the dye on be sure to use vertical stripes, not horizontal ones! I am in love with the color and this is probably the only dye I will ever use for 613 hair. PS I took those pictures outside in the sunlight so you can really see the true shade! ... show more

  • Don’t expect a miracle
To be fair, i have medium to dark brown hair with gray at temples and hairline. I could no t expect miracles. With that being said, I did expect a little bit more of a lift. The box indicated if you had this shade of hair, you could expect a fair amount of lightening to occur. First off I noticed the smell. Or lack of. I think maybe I got an old box. It didn’t sting when applied, ( let’s face it, they all do, to some extent, to me it’s a ‘good’ sting, and it means it’s working, but that’s just me) I want to mention that my hair will pick up red tones first, so I never get ‘warm’ tones. This is a ‘cool’ ash blonde. I was happy that it did not pull any red or Orange. I kept it on a good 35 minutes m because my gray is stubborn. So I would say it lightened very slightly, I did t notice anything much until I blowed it and stood in the sun. My friend said he noticed a difference ! Being a guy though, he couldn’t elaborate. He mostly said ‘different,in a good way’. I took a look in the mirror, and noted the slight lightening , and that the shade made my hazel eyes stand out more and look a little brighter. It’s been a few weeks I guess, and it’s faded completely. The gray is still covered, and I’m happy about that. ... show more

  • Best ammonia free hair dye for $3
This is the best box dye if you are wanting to go color correct or cover grays and it only costs $3. It’s ammonia free so it’s not as harsh on the hair and didn’t burn my skin. I recently dyed my hair blonde with a different brand and it was orangey/ yellow. I used Revlon color silk in dark ash blonde to tone the brass down and it worked well. The conditioner in the box dye is the BEST CONDITIONER I’ve ever used in my life! I wish they sold the conditioner alone separately bc I love it so much. I took one star off bc I feel like it fades a little faster than other box dyes. If you have long or thick hair you may need 2-3 boxes. I don’t know how well the blonde box dyes would work to lift darker hair though I’ve only used it to go darker. I would recommend this to anyone that wants to color correct or cover grays without ammonia ... show more

  • READ IF YOU HAVE DARK HAIR AND THINK YOU WILL GET WHAT IS ON THE BOX!
I love this color! I prelightened my hair before use and had great results. It is important to know that hair color is a deposit only product. What that means is if you are trying to lighten your hair with this you will be disappointed! I went to cosmetology school and studied the color wheel etc. If your hair is darker than a level 7 or 8 (medium to light blond) you have to bleach it first before coloring or your hair will pull warm tones even though color is ash. Bleach removes color and hair dye deposits color. Also if you have platinum blond hair make sure you use a color filler to add warmth before you use this, or your hair will turn green. And if you have used it and were disappointed it's most likely not the product that there's a problem with... it's science. ... show more
