  • Works ok for raising my small chickens before they join the big coop
Not a very sturdy coop but it gets the job done and it is cute. The run part does not attach to the coop, but you can screw it in yourself (you should find a way to attach it, I wouldn't trust it to hold chickens in for very long if not attached). Pretty easy to put together but it does feel pretty flimsy. It held up to my german shepherd trying to break in when he got into our chicken yard, so i'm happy with it so far. The coop part is actually pretty large, right now I have a few small chickens and they have tons of room. You could probably use it for 4ish full grown chickens if they are free range during the day. The latch to keep the run closed is VERY flimsy so I suggest getting another type of sturdy latch to keep it closed & locked shut. You also can't easily reach the coop door to open/close it (I go in through the egg box). ... show more

  • It's ok, but...
I bought this for my ducks. It's not horrible but I have a few complaints. I did not have the correct amount of screws. Whatever it was painted with was rubbing off on my hands, almost like powder. The wood was pretty soft and split in some areas. Also the fenced in part is not actually attached to the coop. I would recommend this as a good starter, a brooding pen, or something for small birds such as quail. I see a lot of people wanting to buy this for rabbits. PLEASE DONT! I own 4 rabbits they will demolish it. You can honestly build something better for your rabbits for the same price. ... show more

  • A Mild Windstorm Blew the Top off.
As a proud owner of chickens, I recently purchased the Chicken Coop Wooden Chicken House, and I have to say that I have mixed feelings about it. While the design is aesthetically pleasing and the size is perfect for my needs, the quality of the wood used to construct the coop is quite fragile. I had to be extremely careful during the construction process, as I noticed that the wood easily splintered and cracked if not handled with care. Despite following the instructions exactly as they were provided, I encountered an issue during a very mild windstorm. Unfortunately, the top of the chicken coop blew off, and the structure was compromised. The wind caused damage to the coop, and I was dismayed to find that cats had taken advantage of the situation and gained access to the coop, where they were able to prey on my beloved chicks. Overall, I would say that the Chicken Coop Wooden Chicken House is a decent product, but it does have some significant flaws. While it is an attractive and functional coop, the quality of the wood leaves much to be desired. Additionally, the structure is not as sturdy as I would have liked, and it may not hold up well in heavy wind or other adverse weather conditions. If you do decide to purchase this coop, I would recommend taking extra precautions during construction and keeping a close eye on the weather to ensure that it remains intact and secure for your chickens. ... show more

  • Best budge purchase
Ignore the petty reviews about it being cheap and whatnot. This coop is the best budget purpose. I use it for my grow outs and it’s amazing. It’s the best bang for your buck if you have a very small flock.

  • You get what you pay for - flimsy and cheap
Right off the bat this coop is not suitable for normal sized chickens. Anything bigger than a silkie is going to struggle to fit through the door with the ramp. The floor tray (which was busted apart straight out of the box) will in NO WAY hold the weight of a standard chicken, or likely many more the 2-3 bantams. The run went together easily, and the house went together easily, but there is NO connection between the run panels and the coop building. You will have to add latches if you want any sense of security for your birds. The nesting box is roomy, but again, not sturdy enough for a normal chicken and NO LATCH. This product is NOT SAFE if you are expecting to keep predators out. The wood is cheap, split in multiple places when assembling, and easy to destroy from a raccoon/coyote/bobcat/skunk perspective. The paint is more of a primer and I highly recommend that, if you are going to buy this chincy thing, you paint everything with an outdoor appropriate sealer prior to assembly. If you have anything more than a slight breeze in your area, find a way to anchor the whole thing. I'm relatively certain that without preventative measures, this thing will NOT survive the first month of winter. Overall, its a cute little piece of garbage that needs to be in a predator-proof area if you have any hopes of keeping SMALL chickens alive. Mine is within my larger chicken run and was purchased specifically for a tiny D'uccle pair, but extreme renovations are needed to even begin to winterize this thing. NOT recommended for beginner chicken keepers. ... show more

  • Skip it and save yourself frustration.
Bought this expecting it to be cheaply made, but I needed something quick and easy for a handful of grow outs that can't go in my big coop yet. The height made it easy to add 2 roosting bars up in the empty wasted space of this house. The doors have no actual locking hardware so you better buy some latches. And you need to add hardwire cloth to the sliding windows that are too damn small for a chicken to use, unless it's a 14oz d'uccle bantam. Its light weight-Im 5 ft 2 and was able to carry it around the backyard by myself. So if yoyre renting and have a secure backyard this might work. I DEFINITELY wouldnt trust it as a primary barrier to predators. Does little more then add a crunchy layer to the predators chicken dinner. Says "fir" for wood, but if feels and weighs as much as flimsy Balsa wood! UPDATE: Ive had the coop less then 2 weeks and the hatch door over the nesting box is already split and broken. It is not really water proof, so it killed three of my seven 12 wk old grow outs that got wet and chilled. Pretty shit product. Ive used some cheap coops before, but this is by far the worst. ... show more

  • You get what you pay for.
Understand these are not made with heavy wood. But made well enough to be effective. Overall construction of the kit is good. I assembled mine with ease. It all turned out straight and in line. I recommend hand tools not power drills. If you use a power drill slow and steady. Do not over tighten the screws. I have a similar one that is now two years old and it shows no sign of wear. I particularly like this one. Perfect for 2 chickens. Definitely not more than 3. I say stick with 2. ... show more
