  • With a Few Adjustments, This Could Have Been Awesome
This is reasonably priced for what you get. I could have got it on a seasonal sale elsewhere for $24 cheaper. I rather buy through Amazon with their easy return policy. I chose this one for all of the metal that would hold up to outside exposure on the ground. I live in AR where it is humid often and yes, opossums are legal pets. I read the reviews before purchasing. I don't feel that it is that bad. Yet, far from perfect too. My biggest complaint is that the door could have been easily placed in the middle. I wanted to flip that whole screen side before assembling, but then I wouldn't have the metal threads for the screws on the upper metal frame. I use a pair of graspers to clean the far right side. Huge hassle since I'm doing this with my left hand. Picking it up to clean is not an option, it is a sturdy 44 lbs. The pull out tray is under the "den", where they probably won't relieve themselves. The door placement should be a big factor, if you too will be using this inside. The length of the lower screen cage is 46" long. They included the roof top to get 48". The dimensions, as given, are at their longest, widest, tallest points. The instructions appear to be super easy at first glance. Most are labeled with extra hardware, except those washers. Hint: the wooden dowels near the roof top will go facing upward when you attach those two pieces of wood. The asphalt roof is a mess. It's like spray-on coarse sand that falls off with the lightest touch. Have your vacuum handy. I intend to place this in the barn once they outgrow it. So I won't have to worry about rain. Otherwise, I would add some silicone on the roof screws and near the apex wood piece since it is not a snug fit. The three joeys, Sy, Pocket, and Rocket love it. I have it inside on a tarp, on a formica desk top board-easily cleaned, with pee pads. This is designed to use on the outside ground for a healthy substrate, walking on screens is not natural. If your pet is litter box trainable, this might be suitable. For any pet that is allowed out of it, it also would work. As a permanent cage for a large rabbit-sized animal, it would be the same as a prison cell. Some of the wood is not predrilled. That is an easy fix. Line the two pieces up first and use an awl, with a mallet if needed. The screws will go in easily with a regular Phillips screwdriver. For reference, I'm a 63 year old female, 114 lbs. I do not recommend using a power drill, the wood may split. The wood smells like cedar. I'm sure it is fir with a similar scent. Second to last issue. This was packed nicely and securely with lots of plastic styrene. I could see those shiny nano pieces of plastic stuck all over the wood while assembling. Again, use the vacuum. That's toxic to everyone, including small animals ingesting or breathing it. Lastly, and what I first noticed was that some of the metal wire was not welded to the screen rails. These edges are quite sharp. I didn't want my little critters crawling behind the ramp and getting exposed to these, so I attached the ramp as close to the screen as possible, not centering it. I believe that they are smart enough to stay away from these sharp exposed inner lower edges. I do feel with the extra metal that this cage is one of your best options. I saw only one other that might be better. It was out of my price range since my pets will outgrow anything of this size. You can see for yourself that it has a nice appearance. For size reference, the dog is a 50 lb. Dutch shepherd. ... show more

  • Great!
Great spring-summer-fall hutch for my two bunnies! Was very easy to assemble it just by myself. I put extra stain coat over it to make it more waterproof but even w/o staining it looks good. It’s very sturdy, I like the metal frames, it should last for many many years. Not too heavy so I can move it from one spot to another very easily. Got nice compliments on it;) The price was good too, that’s why I bought it from them since a little bigger from Tractor Supply costs $399… yeah it’s too much for average people. Will buy in the future the double one from the same company. ... show more

  • Easy to assemble..
Pros: Very easy to assemble as long as you pay attention to what direction the pieces should face. Decent size for 2 smaller bunnies It’s very light which is good for moving but also good for wind knocking it over or predators, stake it into the ground. Cons: The wood is VERY soft. The screws drill very deep into them if you aren’t paying attention. I haven’t put my bunnies in yet, but it’s possible the chew the wood to bits. The wire is flimsy, and will need reinforced to keep bunnies in and predators out. There isn’t a place to stand outside of the poo tray You’ll need a secondary latching feature, the one included will loosen overtime. It will work for now, (only because it would be a pain to disassemble and return) but i’m sure over time with the soft wood it will swell and/or the bunnies will chew right through it. So, buy at your own risk, if your bunnies are on the smaller side and won’t chew it then yes! Or if this is going into a secondary structure, yes! If they’re bigger or chewers, look elsewhere. ... show more

  • Not good for rabbits, but it is pretty. Maybe a cat kennel?
The rabbits chewed right through it. They chewed the grips off of the ramp first, exposing the sharp staple edges, cutting their feet. We've had it for a little over two months, and has to repair it twice. I don't totally hate it, but it just doesn't hold up to bunnies.

  • Quick, easy build!!
This hutch took about 45 minutes by myself to build. I’m excited that’s it’s mostly metal framing since it will be outdoors. I will update the review after its been outside a while lol
