    • Overall good buy lousy engineering
Overall the heater puts out decent heat. I added a shield to focus the heat better, nice addition. However the engineers who designed it are morons, a good design hurt by some simple problems. 1. There is a rubber seal around the hole which allows you to turn the gas bottle on and off - a nice touch versus my old one. But the seal is loose and drops off, and under it is a very sharp edge. A couple drops of adhesive, which I will do myself, would eliminate the problem. 2. Changing the gas bottle is a challenge. Because of the light table attached above the canister container, you cannot lift the container up enough to change the gas bottle without trying to balance it with one hand and replacing the gas with another. Simply reduce the height of the container by an inch and put a notch or screw on a support leg and one could set the container on the leg and change the gas easily. 3. Finally and this is critical. The hose that attaches to the gas bottle is too short. It reaches only by pulling on it and bending it sharply to attach to the gas bottle. Add two inches to the hose, or put a 2 inch platform for the bottle to sit on (I used a couple pieces of wood) or shorten the pole by a couple of inches and voila...it is fixed. By the way with the hose at such a sharp angle eventually it is going chaff and potentially break. That is a dangerous hazard. How this got through the design and sales folks is a mystery. I hope that they make these three minor changes, then it would be a superior product. ... show more

I don't have another shield to compare to but this does do the trick. Feels a little sharp but not like razor sharp.

Used this twice already and it works great. Perfect when you want directional heat. I used it to direct heat toward the area where we are seated near shrubs. By using this shield, I'm not wasting propane/heat onto the brush. Concentrates heat to one side thus avoiding wasted heat to the backside. Easy to assemble and screw onto heater. Well worth the price. Price was less than others but does the work. ... show more

    • Good for a while but will need to buy again each season.
These were not real difficult to install but not "EASY". After installing I found them to work. I would have liked a heads up (reminder because I should have guessed) that if they are installed to direct heat back on the tower and the flame adjustment knob is in the line of the re-directed heat it will probably get "VERY HOT!!!!" Only minor burns but take this as a word of caution. I also have lost 3 of the panels and the connecting rod/wires since our last little wind storm. ... show more
