  • Laser vs. Cartridge Printing - Laser Wins - More Economical
Color: White
I have always had HP printers, I got tired of the cartridge running out at critical times of research, presentation, or study, and purchased this unit in mid-May 2019. I waited to review this product in order to present a more critical/qualified review. I set this up myself on the first day I used it. Despite deleting my HP printer from my system, my system continued to download HP Updates thereby destabilizing my printer; Removing HP info seemed to likewise cause some problems. Having never utilized an at-home laser printer I had a learning curve, however I have been able to solve all quirky problems myself, i.e. the destabilization of my printer. I like the printer because of the way it is stacked, it fits nicely behind my desktop computer, and it is easy to learn. I would rate it an 8 out of 10 because of the HP destabilization updates, and not a "10" because everything can be improved. If I had to purchase again, I would purchase it with color. I thought color would further complicate the unit and the maintenance, however this is a great product, and the color printer probably would have worked just as well. I did not like tech support, they just gave me a website to go to, and I figured it out myself, however product support is available and listed by Amazon after purchase, which I did not notice, therefore did not utilize. I suspected direct tech help would have cost money, however Amazon had conveniently listed apparent free tech support as an option, available at the point of sale. The non-Amazon tech support I called was not available on weekends. Perhaps non-Amazon directed/negotiated tech support should be free at least for the first 30-60 days if you want others to feel confident that help is available without additional cost. I still like the product, if you cannot set it up yourself you might not like it as much. I suspect if I had used Amazon-directed tech support, I would not have had destabilization problems. I still like this printer, there are more pros than cons by far, and highly recommend it to anyone. ... show more

  • Manual Duplex Hard to Use
Color: Black
I use this printer for incidental printing and to print-sign-scan financial forms. I like its speed, print quality, and the fact that it consumes a relatively small amount of table space compared to other printer scanners. This printer supposedly supports manually assisted duplex printing by refeeding the document after one side is printed. I find it easier to climb a flight of stairs to another network printer which supports automatic duplexing than to use this feature. I also found the scan application difficult to use and am substituting software I got with another printer. I haven't used the document feeder enough to be sure whether it has a problem, or I do. The printer also takes nearly 20 seconds after turn-on to go into its warm-up. ... show more

  • Very Disappointed
Color: White
I unpacked the printer and set it up for wireless-only printing and it worked just fine. At least it seemed to I only printed one or two pages but it did print. I order a USP cable that was long enough to reach my computer. After hooking up the USB the computer saw the printer and downloaded the drivers like plug and play should work but when I went to print it would say printing document and make a noise like it was trying to print but it never would print again and the wireless would no longer work. I called product support and since it was a third-party transaction Amazon just issued me a refund and a QRC to return it to the UPS store. I received the refund and now I'm going to go with a trusted brand like HP or Brother. I'm very disappointed because I really wanted this thing to work especially for the price. ... show more

  • Good for Windows, good HARDWARE, poor SOFTWARE, not easy setup for Mac
Color: Black
Lived abroad in Asia for 11 years, the idea that tech in Asia is advanced is a misunderstanding. HARDWARE is top notch. SOFTWARE is subpar, especially when it comes to UI (User Interface). That's why Asian phones are using Android (US product from Google). This printer is much the same. Great print quality, especially for the price. The physical hardware is great. The one caveat is the keypad and its digital screen. They could have done so much more with this i.e. more ability to have control over the printer, WiFi setup, etc. This keypad doesn't do much. Instead, you have to rely on the horrible app, and you have to rely on proper installation from your computer and hope that you can access the settings that you want (much more difficult from a Mac). Setup is easier (not easy, per se, because the software isn't great) on Windows. Much more difficult on Mac. Download links initially were dead ends. Some weird Chinese sites that didn't work, and they were only for Android, NOT iOS App Store. The software for Windows worked, somewhat, but the first go it wouldn't set up the WiFi properly. Had to run it a couple times. Trying to connect the app (from both iOS and Android) to the printer also took several attempts. My biggest problem was trying to turn on duplex printing (double-sided) from a Mac. I think it's easier on Windows. Either way, I don't think the printer does it automatically. You have to go and flip the pages and run it through the printer again to get print on the backside. This isn't detailed anywhere, so I'm just letting you know. Still, good bang for the buck. I went with a cheap laser printer because my parents don't print that often, and they keep ruining printers as a result. Lots of dried printheads. In order to address that, I went with a laser printer, and considering their usage, I think this fits the bill, and for the right price. Additional note, all documentation that is in English is not great. Clearly, English as a second language people translated this. I was on the phone with tech support and their English wasn't great either (my guess is it was outsourced to India), and the connection was horrible so it either kept breaking up, or the connection kept getting lost. Frustrating. When I wrote an email to tech support, they did address my issue, but it wasn't perfect, and again, the English was suspect. Just an FYI. Oh, and my first order, the printer cartridge did not work so I had to return the whole printer and order a new one. ... show more

  • I am not satisfied!!! Booo!! Thumbs down!
Color: Black
Hard to print from phone even though it’s bluetoothed. Keeps printing out the barcode page. Not satisfied with this. When it works I give it a three and that’s not good to me. This could be better. Where is the memory on this thing, it should store your phone and print instead you get bs barcode page to scan again. Boo this is sad ... show more
