Description

The strong, steel support arms and anodized aluminum front and back trims of the Aquila 2050 are sleek and stylish. Modern, high end materials are neutral enough to match any home decor. The Aquila doesn't require any special tools for setup and the smart and fast locking system will have your door cover up in no time. Keep your home entrance dry and protected from the elements in every season. The gray 100% UV protected polycarbonate panel allows light through but filters UV rays that can make your door fade and peel. An integrated front gutter directs rainwater off to the sides. When mounting the awning on lap siding or anchoring to wall studs, an Aquila 2050 siding kit, (sold separately), is recommended. Manufacturer Contact Information

  • Great product… Tips for installation
Great product… Very sturdy and this will certainly hold up to Minnesota snow. When installing it, three tips. First, you need a level solid surface, we have hardy plank. The support brackets hound the cross piece that holds the poly carbonate shade where it meets the house fit the 7 inch siding perfectly. Second, create a template. The support arms are beefy and heavy, once I had drawn the level line on the gray siding with white chalk it was a challenge for my helper to hold the support arm steady while I tried to get a plumb line drawn and holes marked so I knew where to drill for screw placement. You can solve this by creating a template. My photo here is simply a quick drawing; I set the end of the support arm on a piece of cardboard and traced it, including the holes for drilling. Then it was a simple matter of placing that template against the siding and making sure it was plum and just under the line drawn for the cross piece that holds the poly carbonate shade where it meets the house, and marking the spots for the holes. Third, screwing the 7 foot cross piece to the siding was challenging because the directions have you insert the poly carbonate shade in the cross piece first, then tuck in the rubber gasket that seals the place where the poly carbonate shade slips into the cross piece. They do that because screwing the cross piece to the house without the poly carbonate shade slipped into it, then slipping the poly carbonate shade in, means trying to get that rubber gasket tucked between the poly carbonate and the 7 foot lip of that cross piece. Given the fact that the poly carbonate awning is 3 feet deep you’d almost need scaffolding to get at it. So, how to screw that cross piece into the pre-drilled holes in the siding once the 3 foot deep poly carbonate shade is attached to the cross piece? You can get at one or two of the screws from each side but the middle one is a challenge. I used four, 6 inch extensions on my drill to create a 2 foot reach. Slipping my bit into the end of that last extension I was able to stand on a ladder and, with the screw lightly taped to the bit, slip it into the pre-drilled hole and screw it in from there, keeping constant pressure on the bit as it went straight in so the screw did not strip out. ... show more

  • Buy a 13/32 drill bit in advance. It was hard to find. The 5/16 drill bit was easy to locate.
Arrived on time. Everything was in the box. Took about 3 hours with two people. Make sure you have two ladders. Placing the gasket in place was the hardest part. Buy good quality drill bits if you are drilling into brick or concrete. We purchased the solar grey. Looks fantastic with the grey house, but you can still see through it. Not blacked out. After it was installed I tested it with a garden house. It was awesome. ... show more

  • Fantastic Awning, Read this First!!!
I was tentative with other awning shaving plastic parts. This awning is metal, hefty bolt screws, tinted plastic cover. Looks like it will stand up to the elements well. It was straight forward to install but my awning did not come with installation instructions. Luckily amazon had a pdf with instructions. This saved the day. Most of the initial seeps are intuitive for me. Now that I see how well made this is and how easy the install, I ordered 2 more for other doors in my property. Pics to come. :)) ... show more

  • Love the Look!
I debated on buying this. I was originally looking for a metal awning but everything was so expensive. I absolutely LOVE this. It looks amazing and I'm glad I bought it. It took my husband and son a little less than 2 hours to put up. Definitely needed 2 people. Our Hardy Plank has a slight angle and the recommendation is to put it on a flat surface but it worked out fine. The brackets ARE movable so you can attached to studs which is recommended. Our french doors are 60" (5ft) wide. I just purchased a second one for another door. ... show more

  • Great Product, bad packaging / delivery.
The good: I just installed this today, and I've already gotten compliments on how good it looks. It's a great product. It was not too hard to install, it took me a few hours and I needed a pretty decent A frame 8' ladder to complete the job. Most things just clicked together or screwed in place, so no issues there. The bad: The packaging / delivery is horrible and I needed to send it back twice (the panel broke both times). The second time I received the panel, and I saw it was broken in two spots, I was fed up with Amazon's failures, so I just contacted Palram, and they were great. I had a new pristine panel within three days. I've also left feedback on the packaging for amazon. I want others to be wary to examine everything before beginning. If you need to reorder a panel from Palram, make sure to mention you have the grey or clear. They accidentally sent me the clear. One other minor annoyance was that I was given 8 washers, when I should have been given 9. ... show more

  • Packaging is Terrible
I received my awning last night and the box was literally ripped in half on one side. The rest of the box wasn't that much better. However, there wasn't any damage that I saw to the unit. Once I put it up and can tell better. Overall the supports are nice and the design looks clever. The video to install is very visual and to the point. I bought this awning to keep water off my sliding glass door because of water intrusion. I'll update the review when I know more about how well it holds up under NC rain and snow. ... show more

  • When installing Aquila Door Awning on vinyl siding
What I did like about the Aquila awning was the sturdiness. What I didn't like was there wasn't any mention of how to install this awning on a vinyl sided house. I had to find information on line about what to use when installing on a vinyl siding. The manufacture didn't haven any information on their web site of how to or for additional products to help. ... show more
