  • It works and is not hard to do.
The only downside were the included tools. They wore down and could not complete the job. Fortunately I had my own set of tools and finished successfully.

  • Super easy installation on a Mac Pro (Late 2013)
Upgraded my Mac Pro to a 12 Core Xeon processor and a 2TB OWC SSD with 64GB of ram. Transfer of original drive was painless. OWC was the correct company to trust with this. Both the ram and ssd was from OWC.

  • Great upgrade, okay enclosure
It was a relatively straight forward upgrade process for the Aura Pro X2 SSD. Unscrew the bottom of your MacBook Pro, remove the old SSD, and put in the new one. Similarly, the process for the Envoy is just as simple. Install your original SSD into the enclosure, close it up, and use the cable to plug it into your Mac. It makes the process of transferring your data from your old SSD to the new one much more convenient. That said, the solution isn't perfect, at no fault to OWC. Apple doesn't just let you clone the old SSD to the new one, and while there are alternative free and paid solutions, the one I settled on was simply starting with a fresh install of macOS Big Sur, then transferring my old files during the installation process. It is also worth noting that in my case, this was the only time I was successfully able to use the Envoy drive. I haven't yet determined the cause, but my Envoy no longer functions after I transferred the data from it. After reformatting it, the drive has not been able to retain data after being unplugged from a host computer. The behavior suggests that something on the Apple original SSD itself has died, but given the age of the drive, it's hard to tell whether or not I should blame the Envoy enclosure for the failure or not. My technical difficulties aside, the enclosure itself is rather nice looking, though I don't favor the use of USB Micro B 3.0. The Aura Pro X2 SSD itself is amazing, and the 2TB capacity that I purchased was just what I was looking for. ... show more

  • Overpriced and undervalued
You can get better than these - everything they sell is badly overpriced - plus they insist on pushing their politics on their site - if they sell it - you can do better than OWC - I am not at all impressed. Does it work - yes - but is it the best - not by a long shot

  • Very good upgrade
The item arrived on time with all the tools needed for the upgrade. Used the online videos to perform them and worked immediately on my Mac. The case as stated only works with the original SSD.

  • Easy to Install and Upgrade SSD
The media could not be loaded. I watched many youtube and OWC videos for installation guides. It was easy to migrate the data from the "old" SSD by using Time Machine backup. The processing time for 750 GB data was about 24 hrs (installing SSD less than 1 hr, backing and migrating the data 23 hrs). Perhaps do the backing and migrating the data during your bedtime. Worthy Note: I was able to use the OWC enclosure with non-Apple 1TB SSD. See attached photos and video. OWC website and Amazon's product description stated enclosure will only work for the original Apple SSD. Did I get lucky? Not sure but working for me. Hope it will for you. I highly recommend this upgrade if you need more storage capacity. Worth the money for DIY, considering my laptop is more than 6 yrs old. Added more life to my laptop. Good luck with yours. ... show more

  • Upgrade was quick, easy and wonderful
I was having continuing problems with full memory on my early 2015 MacBook Pro, so I decided to upgrade to the 2 TB SSD from OWC, because they made the install look easy. Their video claims the upgrade can be completed in 15 minutes, and that would have been true except I dropped one of the case screws onto the rug and it took me over an hour to find the tiny little thing. The install and upgrade went flawlessly once I read the instructions about the recovery mode command. I'm now sitting here with 1.72TB of free disk space, and it's been working flawlessly! I highly recommend the upgrade. ... show more

  • DO NOT BUY! Severe overheating!
One paper thin heat sink pad for the enclosure and none for the new drive. Enclosure became to hot to even handle.
