My promise to you is to provide honest and transparent reviews. I'm a consumer just like you and take people's reviews into account when I purchase items. Very few of us have the luxury to waste time or money, especially in this economy. I will not blindly steer you into wasting your precious resources. PROS - Great clean looking design - Boils water quickly - Has a cool blue LED light that just makes it look cool as the water boils - Made of glass so it's easy to clean CONS - Made of glass (pro and con) so it could break if knocked off counter. Plus I have a small apartment kitchen and like to run cold water in my kettles (metal ones) to cool them down right away. I'm afraid to try that with glass. BOTTOM LINE I'm Gen X and originally thought electric kettles were a waste. It's not that tough to boil water in a pot on the stove. I received one for Christmas one year and after a few years and it stopped working so I had to boil water in a pan old school style until the new one arrived. Yeah, the pan method sucks and life is better with an electric kettle. Anyway, this is an excellent choice for an electric kettle and one I highly recommend, especially when on sale. This is our favorite tea kettle that we've tried so far. Easy to clean: It has a wide mouth that you can fit your hand inside easily for cleaning. Vinegar and water works really well removing any water stains/buildup if done on regular basis. The interior of the kettle is all glass with the exception of the metal heating plate and the plastic lid. Plastic handle is quite sturdy for easy grip. The mesh/plastic filter pops off for you to clean that as well. FYI: The filter screen rarely lasts as long as the lifespan of the kettle. Once you see any signs of damage, remove it and throw it away. Otherwise once it is compromised, the mesh filter degrades/erodes really fast (and you will notice tiny flecks of it in the water). So just ditch it once you see an signs of tearing/damage. The glass DOES get hot. So be mindful of where you place it if you have small children. Excess cord can be neatly wound around the underside of power base. The kettle lights up when you press the power button located on handle, and the light goes off when it's done boiling. Makes it super easy to know when it's on or off. The unit comes with a replacement warranty of 2 years. I have utilized the warranty and the process was easy. My last unit died within 6 mos of purchase (wouldn't power on). As of Sept 2023...To qualify for replacement you need to: #1 do NOT throw the kettle or base out until you get the replacement unit or part in your hands. Go to the Ovente website and click on "contact us" then select "warranty claim" under the How Can We Help tab. Fill out the form and attach copy of receipt. Wait for response with instructions. In my case, the unit just died for no reason/wouldn't power on, so they responded asking me to provide the following via email: 1. A picture showing the 4-digit code located on the silver sticker attached to the bottom of the kettle or base; 2. A picture and/or short video clip (less than 20MB file size) showing the issue/problem; 3. Your mailing address They then reviewed the claim and in a few days emailed back with: We have received instruction from our supervisor that we don't need the item back. All we ask is that you cut the cord at the very end of its cord close to the plug of the rubber stopper. Once cut, kindly send us a picture so we can process the replacement as soon as possible. (whew! Good thing I didn't assume it was safe to throw it away!). I submitted the Pic of the cord cut... And received my replacement kettle about a week later week/free shipping. Very pleased with the return process! ... show more
