I installed, by myself, in about 4 hours. Application was on wood stud frame house, and I used my John Deere front end loader to do the lifting to the brackets. Instructions included were somewhat difficult to understand, and were no doubt written by someone who's first language was not English. Careful attention to detail and watching a video on U-tube was helpful. Use caution in determining the height of brackets, too high, and short people with have problems with using the somewhat short crank handle without a baby stool. There should be a warning about using the awning in windy conditions. I have already noticed that on a breezy day of about 15 mph gusts, it flops around enough to be of concern. ... show more

The box arrived with dents and dings (main Roller drum dented and slightly off center), not sure if that was from the retailer or the delivery service. But not a deal breaker. The color is a beige which matches the Sand siding we have. That was our main reason for ordering this particular unit! The assembly was easy with one person, the final mounting requires 2 people. I read all the reviews of other Outsunny Awnings as this one had none at the time of order. All the other models came with the ceiling bracket, this unit does not, however it does not advertise or picture that it does either, (this was a disappointment but also an assumption on my part). I mounted it under an overhang adding 2x6 studs and used 8"x 12" L-Brackets, it is close but works. Time will tell on my brackets. The size was not so clear on the description it is 151" wide and 96" extended. I also had to add a small gauge hold down chain to the center of the valance as the slightest updraft when fully extended lifts the awning quite a bit and I felt it was stressing the torsion bars. Everything considered it is a good value for the money. I will post follow up info as time goes on. I would recommend this purchase with all the new information added to the reviews! ... show more

I read through the 1 star articles and don't understand why expert construction guys cannot put this together. I am a 66 year old man and put it together in about two to three hours. I did need help to hang it on the wall once assembled. What I dislike is that the translation from whatever language to English for directions can be difficult to understand in some steps. Also the measurements are in MM and CM which I believe was not correct. I used other measurement tricks to figure out the installation of the brackets to the wall. Once installed it did not roll out level. Had to watch a video of another brand name to see how to do that. Now that it is level, I think it is a great addition to my house. It is mounted over a garage door and will always be out of the weather. It will cover a picnic table we have in our front yard, just outside the garage, that our grandkids like to use to eat popsicles and enjoy lunch. Now we won't get baked by the morning to noon sun. It is nice material, sturdy construction, and rated #3 overall on another video on YouTube. I am satisfied with the awning overall. Outsunny (Aasom.com) was helpful with a few questions I had. Would recommend this product, and can say that assembly was not as difficult as others have described. ... show more

I absolutely love this awning. It’s a great buy for the price. There were several problems however. First, there was damage to the roller which was evident immediately on unpacking. I wasn’t happy about it, but on further inspection, the roller itself wasn’t bent, just dented, and in the final installation the roller is always covered with the fabric so it wasn’t an aesthetic problem either. Second, the assembly instructions are awful! They are obviously written by someone with a poor command of the English language. The steps vary from hilarious to frustratingly indecipherable. If you plan to install this yourself and you are handy and mechanically inclined you should be fine, but be ready for some head-scratching. Lastly, and mostly just FYI, the gear box that extends the awning is on the left side as you face it looking toward it from the outside. If this works for you, all good, but for me I really wanted it on the right side. There is no option offered by the manufacturer to reverse it to the other side. A shame because the parts seemed to allow for it with minor modifications. Being handy and tool-blessed, I went a ahead and did it, but it wasn’t trivial and I probably voided all warranties, if there are any, in the process. Said and done, I’m very happy with it but that may only be because I was able to figure out the assembly despite the instructions and further hack it to suit my needs. ... show more

Great value, it is very wide across (151 inches+) and the color is a nice neutral beige. Also, installation was relatively easy, assuming you have basic home improvement knowledge. The box arrived with a couple of dents and the metal had some imperfections as a result, but considering the price, I was not willing to return for a new item. A little bit of white touch up paint will fix any of those issues. ... show more

I'll have to update after installation, but after peeking at the fabric I'm very pleased with the coffee color. My computer showed dull brown but it looks just like my coffee with creamer in it! It was delivered 3 days ahead of expected date and that's always a plus. Very happy so far, will update with installation/performance. OK, installation - definitely a two person job as it's so long it requires holding up on one end. The instructions are useless, just throw them away and eyeball it. If you're not a handy person, it's going to be difficult. But once you figure out how it's supposed to work, it goes smoothly with not many parts to deal with. Mine did include lag bolts for siding as well as those for brick/concrete installation so they must have added that to the package in newer shipments. Once up, it appears very solid and the crank works fairly easily (a child would have some trouble cranking it). Fabric is nice and this is going to meet my needs as well as the high-priced ones would! ... show more
