  • Great way to transport skis
Purchase this for a ski trip. I was a little skeptical when I came in the mail it didn’t really seem like very much but I have to tell you I was pretty impressed. The skis stayed in place and I hit speed up to 90 miles an hour and everything was fine. I would definitely recommend, this to anyone that needs to transport skis, a canoe, a surfboard . ... show more

  • Good kit, needs rope as well
I got this to haul my kayak on the roof of my prius. It did a great job. The trip I took recently had me going 70, and the kayak hadn’t budged at all when I went to unstrap it. The straps are good, and the foam protected my roof just fine. It all packs up easily back into the included bag for storage. What I did not like are the included lines for bow and stern lines. The carabiners included deformed just from my fingers. There is absolutely no way you should trust these to protect the car behind you if the straps failed. If they weren’t included at all I would have been more impressed with this kit. That said, strong rope is inexpensive, and using some with the included hood loops worked just fine. Recommended as a good all in one kit for hauling stuff on your cars roof. Just get some rope too. ... show more

  • easy to install and mount board
this is effortless to install. this is different from roof mount where you need to mount it with screws, etc, youcan install this mount without any tools and keep your board locked down

  • Good for my surfboard
Really easy to install. Easy to remove. Padding really protects my car roof top. Definitely recommend.

  • Very coushiony, no worry about things falling off
The pads are big, meaning that they can accommodate things like ski or snowboard bindings. There is a grippy surface to the bottom s that it won't slide around on top of your car, and the included straps are easy to use and tighten. The whole thing comes together into a small little bag that you can use to carry around or travel with. Overall a fantastic option for cars that don't have built-in racks. ... show more

  • Cost Effective Way To Own A Kayak
Owning a kayak is easy. Transporting one is hard! I've put off owning a kayak for a long time because I didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars on top of the price of a kayak to strap it to my roof and get it to and from my house and the lake. Compared to the "hard-mounted" options I'd researched before ordering this, this kit seems to have similar functionality at less than half the cost (if you're looking at the highly-rated options, anyways). The padding did a great job at protecting my roof, the straps provided enough force to anchor everything down, and it was easy to install temporarily and get off afterwards. I wish the provided straps were more robust, but this did the trick for what I needed. ... show more

  • Works but I will use other straps and tie down cord.
The top cushioned racks are easy to install but one of the straps I was cut unevenly and hard to thread in the clasp. I ran around town with the rack installed fine but did not load them or go at interstate speeds because the clasps are lightweight compared to my old straps. See comparison photo. The black clasp is new. I don't want a my 12 foot long 60 lb torpedo Tarpon fishing kayak potentially flying into I 75. The system is rated for about a 130 lb load, but at 70 miles an hour with a cross wind, the strain on materials increases. Similarly, the front and back tie down cord and carabiners are not substantial. And there were no instructions on using the quick loop tie downs. I knew how they could be used but posted a question because first time rack users might waste time trying to figure it out. Kudos to customer service for a prompt response. If I had a lightweight paddle board or needed something to take lumber etc back home from my close by building store, this system is perfect and portable. I will use the roof racks but with stronger paracord for hood and hatch tie downs and with my other straps. Ps. If you're wonder how a granny with arthritis gets a kayak on her car alone, I put a beach towel on my sloping prius hood and windshield and push the kayak up on the towel, sliding it the kayak until gravity helps keep it balanced. Just tilt the bottom of the kayak down to raise the tip over the roof racks, then slide it the rest of the way! ... show more

  • Secure, with protection for your car roof
I used this on a vehicle that has side rails, but no cross bars, and it worked well to distribute the weight and protect the roof of the vehicle. The 3" thick pads are slightly taller than the side rails, but the side rails are still accessible. So, the straps that mount the pads can sneak under the side rails and go through the vehicle for a secure mount...while the side rails are still accessible to secure the load on top of the pads. Material encasing the pads seems sturdy. The pads will compress slightly as the load is secured...which is good since helps to keep the items from slipping around. Since they are going through the doors, the straps run through the vehicle about 3" below the passenger compartment ceiling...so, I was worried that the strap would bump me in the head while driving, but there was enough clearance, with the strap over my head. I only used the tie down straps, and can confirm that they are easy to tighten, and they stay taught thanks to the burrs on the buckle. I did not use the quick loops to provide a lashing point (since I have the side rails), but I can see that they would be helpful if hauling a large item like a canoe. All items fit easily into the storage bag. It took about 15 minutes to mount the roof rack and secure the load, but I imagine that it will get faster with practice. ... show more
