  • Good solid submersible to pump out pool
Style: Manual Activation
easy, quiet, draining my pool, no complaints along with good price point. If I was in a hurry, well I would've needed a bigger pump, but I'm not. So it's perfect, so far (just a few days of pumping in daylight hours). Can't comment on longevity.

  • Great for Storm Season Floods!
Style: with Water Sensor Switch
Our patio floods. Like all points of the roof drain to the back patio type floods. And the rain water quickly comes up the pavers and dangerously close to the sliding glass door. And during hurricanes - or even a heavy Florida Tuesday afternoon storm - that water comes up quick! We bought two of these - one has a hose feeding into the pool and the other is in the pool leading outside. Don’t judge - the process works! 😂 These darn things work AMAZING. We have found that the automatic sensor isn’t very reliable though - as others have mentioned. We did what everyone has offered up and it will work if I place it in a bowl of water as a test, but during the actual storm, it won’t work. Very odd. So instead, we have the remote control plugs (that are used for Christmas decorations) and simply turn it on when it is needed. Great little work around. Great value for the money on these things. Very little noise too. Such a great purchase! ... show more

  • Great pump with a couple design flaws
Style: with Water Sensor Switch
I use this pump in a natural spring to fill a 1500 gallon water tank. I put the pump into a bucket that has holes on the side to let water in, but minimize debris. The pump pushes water through a flexible stainless steel braided hose to the tank. The system works great, except for two design flaws that I've overcome: 1. The water level sensor mounting holes are too large. The sensor easily falls out of the side. I've overcome this with a large tie-wrap, wrapped-around the entire pump. 2. The pump has inadequate space at the bottom to allow water in. I found that sitting flat on the bottom of the bucket, the pump's suction creates a tight seal and prevents ANY water from flowing in. I overcame this by putting a small rock at the bottom of the bucket, so that it sits at a slight angle and cannot create a suction seal with the bottom of the bucket. This is a pretty big design flaw, in my opinion. ... show more

  • Worked great for removing water from my driveway
Style: Manual Activation
My driveway collects a very large puddle after a hard thunderstorm as the end is lower than the road. As much as 6” of water. Sometimes takes a day to disappear. This allowed me to pump the water into the garden area in about 20 minutes. We’ve been dealing with this problem for 10 years and wish we had thought of this solution sooner. ... show more

  • Easy to use, dependable and effective water pump...
Style: with Water Sensor Switch
Purchased this little workhorse of a water pump for some flooding in my backyard and back patio. After a few days of having to bail water into a bin and then dumping it into the street, I was really in need of this pump. When it arrived it was very easy to set up. The extra long power cord really helped in not having to use an extension cord and water proof the connection. The flow port and attachment made it easy to accommodate several hose sizes. It pumps water out to a very low level on a flat surface and handles very small debris with ease without clogging. It is very sturdy and well-built for its intended purpose. Upon setting it up for the next rainstorms I found that the auto sensor switch was not functioning. It worked great in manual mode and did its job, but I did not want to spend my night manually switching it on and off every hour or so. I reached out to Tornado Tools customer service thru Amazon messaging and I received a response right away with some suggestions. Customer service was very keen to work out this problem together with me. Finally, it was discovered that a light grease is added to protect the contacts and so it was suggested that I thoroughly brush and clean the contacts. I used a de-greaser and that did the trick. It functions flawlessly in auto mode now. Great customer service if you work together, Great product and now I sleep at ease through any rain. ... show more

  • Pumps well but do NOT rely on the water level sensor
Style: with Water Sensor Switch
Bought the sump pump because of all the expected rain here in SoCal from the atmospheric river of rain scheduled to hit. When one of these rain events occurs my backyard will have deep standing water that will eventually make its way into my enclosed back patio and I wanted to prevent that. The pump was delivered quickly and when I unboxed it, found the instructions to be unclear on the use of the water level sensor. Fortunately there was an additional card tied to the pump handle that provided a much clearer explanation. I set the pump up in a depression outside the door to the patio with the pump sitting on a piece of clean ceramic floor tile so it would not be sitting on grass or dirt. The first night we got a lot of rain and the sensor seemed to be working because when I woke up there wasn't much standing water. A few hours later, the standing water was much deeper, well above the sensor and water was beginning to enter the patio. I pulled the sensor out of it's mount, dried it off with a towel and plugged the sensor into the manual run socket and the pump came to life. In a few hours it had drained the back yard almost completely - there was only water in the lowest spot where the pump itself was sitting so I turned it off by pulling the sensor out of the manual run socket. I dried off the sensor and re-installed it in the middle sensor location. A few hours later the water level was well above the sensor again so I repeated the manual run process above and in a couple of hours, with the rain coming down the whole time, it had pumped all of the standing water out of the back yard and into the street again. The pump runs very quiet and had no trouble pumping water. It never clogged. But, the only way to be sure it was pumping was to run it manually. The water level sensor was unreliable. Maybe it only works when the sensor will only get wet from below - for example the pump is installed in a basement and the water level rises from the floor to the sensor. But, I was using it outdoors where it was under an eve so not exposed directly to rain but, maybe water splashing on the sensor was enough to confuse it. All I know is that when run manually it worked like a charm. ... show more
