I've owned several electric can openers over the years, and I must say that this is by far the worst one. Considering that I bought it because of the brand name, I'm very disappointed. Inserting the can you want opened requires at least a minor in rocket science, as the mechanism designed to hold the can seems to fluctuate from can to can. Who ever designed the magnet attachment to catch the lid should be pilloried. The magnet sits in such a position as to block the can away from the cutting edge. The magnet literally attaches itself to the side of the can, making it impossible to place the can in the correct position for opening without physically moving the magnet into the proper position, above the can. From that point on, the opener doesn't seem to want to open anything, and its operation is genuinely inscrutable. After messing around with it for a couple of minutes, you'll pull your trusty manual can opener out of the junk drawer and open it that way. The retractable cord is a plus, but in operation, it still leaves about 6 inches of cord exposed, and you have to push it in the rest of the way. So, what's the point? So, if you're in the market for a new can opener, I'd buy a manual one before I bought this. ... show more

Love this can opener. Bought a cheaper one elsewhere and it didn't work worth a darn. This one works extremely well and we are very pleased with it.

opened 5 cans motor started making grinding gear of death ... nothing works on this can opener i'm one not to cook much no huge family so only use can opener near special events birthdays holidays had old black decker counter top can opener last me 30 years its still going just cranky thats why i bought the oster it cant last 5 months Oster lost me on future purchases your quality is horrible not durable my hand can opener does better job save your self do not buy this opener unless your not planning to open anything and want a decoration ... show more

Retractable cord is stiff and the cord twisted and had to be straightened to retract. Also wiped cord down with endust to make for an easier cord glide. Opener section works great
