  • Thin wood of questionable durability, but looks good
When the large box arrived at my door step I was almost sure I would need a second person to help bring it in, to my surprise the huge box was extremely light. I brought it in and noticed the immediate strong chemical order from the wood, I ended up being forced to take it outside for assembly as I was getting light headed from the fumes. The assembly was relatively easy, nothing broke and all the screws were there, in fact the hutch comes with extra screws for each size. The biggest issue I had was how thin the wood was, a little better than balsa wood but not something you would expect in a hutch for animals. I have serious doubts about the longevity of the hutch. The other part I disliked was the little hook latch they give you to close the hutch door, it uses two small screws on a thin piece of wood, most animals will be able to easily push and break off the hook latch. It’s unfortunate that Amazon does not carry a larger selection of good quality hutches at this time, based on the availability on Amazon, I still think this was the best option out there. I’m planning on using the hutch for my rabbits and will be placing the hutch inside a larger totally fenced in cage, so I’m not too worried about predators. However if you have raccoons in your area or other persistent predators, this hutch wont hold them out for too long. ... show more

  • Cheaply made
Easy to assemble, however the 2 roof pieces were not level so we had to fix that so it wouldn’t leak. This is t made but for maybe 2-3 baby chickens. Really no room to move on bottom. It’s very small. The door to the ramp got stuck on the top part so we had to turn the piece around to lift from wrong angle to make it work. We added locks to all doors since the piece wood holding it closed wasn’t sufficient for us. ... show more

  • Not worth the money ... would return if I could.
Just put this together. If we had had another option, we would have returned this item. 1. Upon opening the box, the first 2 pieces that had wire on them both had broken pieces. These broken areas consisted of one or 2 wires that had broken away in the middle of the screen and covered a couple of inches. It took a little bit of time to twist and cut these wires so that they would not hurt our rabbit. We were not happy about this, but, again, we did not have a choice as we were out of time after a 3-day drive to our new house with our animals in tow. 2. The pull-out drawer did not meet at the corners and pulled apart as soon as it was taken out of the box. I will have to do some work on the middle support piece of the tray to shorten it as there is no way to fully fix the drawer without shortening it because it was miss cut and the back crossbar "rocks" on it. 3. The "rails" that the drawer sits on are (were) attached by flimsy, thin nails. As soon as the rabbit had put his weight on the entrance side, the rail folded down---did not drop the rabbit --- but folded down. I had to take the hutch apart enough to be able to screw these into place. I will have to replace them as soon as possible just to keep the animal safe. 4. Even though we were very careful to keep everything "squared up" and even when it came time to put on the final wired piece, it was off by so much that the latch could not be used. Not a huge deal for a rabbit, but a big one for anyone with animals that might be able to knock things and wiggle out. Overall, nice design, but so cheaply made that I don't expect it to last even a year. We have had it put together and in use for 2 days now and the legs are already stained and show signs of water damage. The wood may be real, but it is very soft and will not hold up to much of anything...including the screws. If I fell into that cage, the screws outcome right out of the wood in many places because the wood just isn't strong enough to hold them in. Very disappointed. I wish it could be returned, but that is not an option. We will be building our own next time. ... show more

  • Not what I expected, but will work in a pinch
Received the box late and some of the parts inside were damaged. the box itself wasn't damaged so we didn't know until we unpacked everything. My hubby is handy so he was able to fix the cage so it was still usable. The slats on the house part were not snug and some were moveable so you could see light in-between them. The door stops, small pieces of wood that turns to lock the doors, seems a bit small on one side so we may need to add an additional piece of wood to each door to fix and stabilize. The unit itself is light weight and can easily be moved. We assembled in two sections and moved it before connecting them. I do not know how you could fit several large hens in this cage. I put my peeps in this cage as an interim until I get their larger one built and unfortunately, they won't be in here long. ... show more

  • Would not use outdoors!
First off let me say I specifically bought this to use INDOORS in one of my outbuildings as an isolation coop for my chickens. It was easy to put together and works really well for my intended use. I would NOT trust this coop to keep out a hungry raccoon. It is flimsy and the latches will not keep out a predator. I have no idea about it’s waterproofing because mine is inside. It also does not have a roosting bar or an actual nesting box that is separate from the raised housing area. I would not use this as my sole outside coop for any chicken, so if that’s what your looking for save your money and buy a legit coop. But if your looking for an isolation space for injured/sick chickens this is perfect. I am currently using it for my chicks that have outgrown the brooder but haven’t quite finished feathering to go out in the big coop. ... show more

  • It will do!
Was a little disappointed with how I got it. Had a dent in the metal drawer, nails coming out, gaps with the boards. Overall it will serve its purpose for now.
