  • Ninja Cookware, What Can It “Not” Do?
Features High rim Gas cooktop friendly Has stay cool handle Glass cooktop friendly Electric cooktop friendly Ceramic cooktop friendly Induction cooktop friendly Replacements/additions available At 11” a unique looking versatile frypan Ceramic nonstick coating free from PFOA Made from stainless steel Easy to clean Pour spouts Oven proof Attractive Durable Heavy Considerations: Whoa, big Even heat? Hmm No flared edges Not rivet free Upper mid-level price It has a non-stick surface Avoid using metal utensils Not scratch, dent, or ding proof We are passionate about our cookware, like many others, and have great respect for the Ninja brand. On its face, this looks gorgeous, feels durable, and weighs-in at a decent weight, and has some amazing features. However, for us, Ninja reached too far with all these features, they are novel, but this is basically a frypan/mini-jumbo cooker; and, the added steamer, was a disappointment to us. We have a particular delicacy we make, using a steamer. We were very excited to use this steamer, because it’s so big, perfect for what we wanted to use if for. Our steamed creation turned out to be a disaster, collapsing. Causing us to question whether this heats evenly; and can retain the steam to blanket what’s inside. Possibly it’s those pour lips on each side of the pan. We think the steam escaped from those pour lips/spouts, compromising the even steam needed for our creation. We also thought the steamer feels a little thin to us. We were using a competitor to make that same creation, we had no failure with the competitor, it’s also stainless steel, but much heavier and thicker. Again, this has many features. For instance, this is big, so we appreciated the helper handle. Also, we appreciated the pour lips/spouts, but they created compromises with escaping steam. This whole ensemble is stainless steel and glass. But it’s a tad on the lighter side than other cookware we use. The balance of the pan has no flared edge, rather, straight and deep. This could be a cooker, it is deep enough, but so wide, versus vertical. There are rivets on the inside cooking side. We like rivet-less construction which is classic high-end quality, the cheaper cookware that uses rivets, something that simply catches food particles. We found we did not have to use much cooking oil in our fried foods; and, the mess that was left over, we also found that this is super easy to clean. This can go into dishwasher, but we handwash. Now, about non-stick coating. We will leave that for the reader to determine whether to use. Ninja uses a proprietary ceramic coating. Ninja says it’s free of PFOA, cadmium, and lead? Who uses lead? We shall see how long the non-stick feature lasts, as a typical ceramic coating has been reported to lose its non-stick capabilities after a few years. However, Ninja warrants for ten (10) years. The price is competitive. Ninja is a leading cookware brand in the world, for good reason; we like name brand products. Why? Because name brand products have high quality standards and stand behind what they sell; that includes Ninja. So, if there is a defect, we can look to Ninja to honor their warranty. Further, when we want to add to our growing collection, we can look to Ninja to likely have what we want. Which brings us confidence in any Ninja product, including this cookware. But we are deducting a star for the lack of success we had with the steamer. It’s a very strong four (4) stars, almost five (5). We hope our pics and thoughts assist in your decision. ... show more

  • 100% amazing.
Never in my life did I ever expect that I'd own a pan that cost this much, but I get it. Before the pandemic, the most cooking I ever really did was minimal at best. The extra time on my hands got me into cooking and I ended up subscribing to a few of the meal kit delivery services... I loved the value I got out of a $150-200 pan set, but those came with a few limitations that this one overcomes. Good: - Unreal amazing quality - Nonstick really means nonstick. - Steamer basket is nice, but not one that I'll use often - Oven Safe to 500! My Rachael Ray set was only safe to 400 degrees and a few too many times did the recipe call for 450. The bad: - The price. But the quality vs price is unreal. Baked on food literally hardened and flaked off itself from the nonstick surface. It's amazing. Hoping to one day own an entire set, but at least this will accomplish the vast majority of what I need in a pan. ... show more

  • My new favorite pan
I order lots of meal kits that require a skillet on the stove. I was so tired of everything always burning an smoking no matter how non stick the pans all claimed to be. I had a hex clad type style from Pampered chef that worked for a while but now even it sticks too so I decided it was time to try something else. I made my first meal with this pan and I was thoroughly impressed with the non stick quality. I also love that the sides are straight up so I can fit quite a bit more. The meal in the photo was a 4 person Japanese style curry and it cooked well without sticking. I could tell even when I put the oil in it just kind of beaded up and didn’t even coat the pan. The chicken didn’t stick a single bit either. The instructions say dishwasher safe but hand wash is preferred. Almost everything in my house gets washed in the dishwasher so hopefully the non stick still holds up. The only thing I noticed when rinsing it out after cooking that might make it harder to clean is that it does have the rivets from the handle inside that food seems to kind of get stuck around. So that is the only spot that seems to really require any scrubbing. I’m not sure if I’ll use the strainer/steamer much as it’s probably too small to cook pasta for my family but it’s a cool little attachment to have. I also really like the spatula that came with. All my wood spoons were dirty so I decided to use the included one to cook the whole meal and it did great. It didn’t melt at all and it actually rests nicely on the edge so you don’t have to find a spoon rest or anything while simmering etc. Overall I’m super happy with this pan so far and it will likely be my go to for cooking dinner. If for some reason the non stick doesn’t hold up I will update my review but as of now 5 stars! Love this pan! And it’s pretty too. ... show more
