Great device, device. I have tried multiple times to get a really good sear on a steak. Only to get something well done with a poor sear. The closest I’ve gotten is I cut my steaks one and a quarter inch and air fry it on Maxx. All the other things are great. It cooks chicken really well. It does roasts really well. The combination steam functions are really good. It air fries really well. It sous-vides properly. Steams great. It’s gentle on my truck’s inverter. Doesn’t blow fuses. The sear function Would be OK if it went up to 500°. I know there are other options that do, and I tried one of them, and it didn’t work. I’m going to keep experimenting. I’m also keeping this. I consider air fryers to be disposable when the new one comes out, and it gets too dirty inside. Speaking of cleaning, the stainless interior cleans up really easily. My last air fryer was gross after a month, Cuisinart. I wish they sold a splatter guard for the top element; I had a smoky incident. I thought I was in Canada for a second. I noticed that they have them on Ninja grills.

This little combi oven does a phenomenal job with steaming (hard boiled eggs, potatoes) and air fry (panko crusted fish filets, eggplant, cauliflower, frozen samosas and egg rolls, etc with or without breading). I have enjoyed mastering the "combi meal" setting that allows you to cook a meal for 8 in about 12 to 15 mins. We get great results with frozen chicken-- I mean frozen solid, rock-like chicken breasts or thighs coated in marinade or oil and seasonings-- golden brown and delicious in 15 mins. It really does it. On bake setting, it heats up very quickly and has done a great job with bread and cookies, anything we've put in there. We have cut our monthly gas bill by over 40% by using this oven instead of baking with our gas oven-range and our electricity usage has barely gone up at all. Where we live, we're saving a good $35/mo by using the Ninja every day. We don't own a microwave, btw, fwiw, and we don't need one. Between the InstantPot for cooking beans, making soup and braising meat under pressure, and the Ninja for fast multi-part meals, steaming and air frying, we don't really need our oven-range at all. Add a single induction burner for wok cooking and cooking fried eggs here and there and we would be all set. There has been a short learning curve for using the combi meals setting and heating up leftovers. White rice and pasta cook exactly as they tell you. Brown rice really needs to be par-cooked. Quinoa has been a little hit and miss with being slightly underdone. I'd suggest starting with a veggie stew of some kind, mixing the quinoa in half again more water or broth than you'd use on the stovetop, and making sure all of it is spread evenly across the pan. I have loved sautéing onions and peppers right in the pan I use to cook rice, sometimes toasting the rice to make pilaf. You could totally use this oven to make risotto. Seafood up top during combi meals cooks very quickly-- maybe 10 mins unless it's frozen. With shrimp or thin fresh fillets, consider putting the seafood on the bake tray after your rice or pasta have mostly cooked. Be careful to trim your parchment to fit the bake tray and don't put so much parchment in there that it touches the element above. Thick frozen mahi mahi fillets were beautifully done after 12 mins. I wouldn't recommend sticking this oven inside a cabinet because it kicks out a good amount of steam. It needs plenty of overhead space but it has a small footprint on our counter. The controls are intuitive and easy to read, and temp adjustments are in 5 degree F increments. I love this Ninja oven and plan on buying one for my daughter when she goes away for college!

I use this thing like every day. I’m after 2 years, it’s still doing its thing. Although, it might be need a little longer to cook than it once did. I am really bad about cleaning it out. So if I clean it it might be better. It really does cut down time for cooking. Because I am so accustomed to cooking with it quickly, I would probably just buy another one as soon as possible. It my favorite appliance right now. I barely use my ninja pressure cooker, likely because I don’t yet know how to use it. This Ninja Combi is super easy to use! It comes with a recipe book that I strongly recommend keeping hold of. Inside, it tells you all single item foods that are not a part or a recipe-how long to cook, at what temp, how much water to add and on what setting. That is a lifesaver, because google is not guaranteed to have those details. Because I eat everything made in this thing, I’d say that the quality is great! And it’s lasted me 2 years with every day use and cleaned with a degreasing product and sponge that you’d use on a stove top like every 6 months. Terrible, right?! It’s time consuming to clean, not easy. I just love cooking with it!

I am a Ninja fan and have, or have had the majority of their products. I also tend to research their products before I buy them in an effort to avoid duplication of functionality. I did buy the Ninja Speedi thinking it would be nice to cook a couple of foods at one time. I did use the Speedi a couple of times. Once to steam and crisp a whole chicken and once to air fry French fries. Both came out very well. The problem I had with the Speedi was that cooking two foods required one to be below the other and there was no way to monitor each food being cooked, and there was too much trial and error. This Combi oven is basically an upgraded Speedi cooker that is much more versatile and, in my opinion, easier to use. It has the same functions and settings as the Speedi, but the ability to open a door on the front presents a whole new world of possibilities. I have used this cooker a few times since I got it and have not yet explored all the possibilities. So, what do I love about this cooker/oven. 1) It opens from the front and has a window to view food as it cooks. 2) The steam and crisp function should be called a steam and brown function. I have used this function to reheat meats, such as leftover roast, chicken, etc. that had been frozen and thawed. The steam keeps the meat moist, and an external thermometer keep it from being over cooked. 3) It works great as an air fryer as did the Speedi. 4) The steam and crisp works as well as my more expensive Anova oven to cook leftover meats and for fish filets. For this, I use a Meater thermometer to monitor internal temperature. The steam and crisp also works well for refreshing stale bread and rolls, especially French bread. The result is a soft inside and a crispy crust. 5) This oven is large enough to cook a 5 lb. chicken using the steam and crisp. For this purpose, an external thermometer should be used as the suggested times in the manual tend to overcook the chicken. 6) Other than taking 7 minutes to build steam for the steam and crisp function, this oven does not require preheating. 7) What I have cooked in this oven so far is done surprisingly faster than in my other ovens. 8) The ability to reheat proteins, full meals, and casseroles without drying them out or changing the texture of the food is worth it's weight in gold. As with most new cooking appliances, there is a learning curve. Getting recipe ideas from the provided recipe book is a good way to get familiar with the capabilities of the Combi Oven. It should also be noted that recipes for the Speedi will work as well in this oven. Once you become familiar with this oven, it becomes easier to plan your own dual level meals. For the dual level meals that cook rice or pasta in the bottom pan, you still need to use a different bowl for serving. I sometimes use Rica-a-Roni or Knorr pasta sides that I can cook in the microwave in the serving bowl and not dirty another pan. Overall, I very much like this cooker over the Speedi and would recommend it if it supplies the functions you need. I will update this review if my opinion changes, and hope this review was helpful for you.

I purchased a like-new unit of this from Amazon. If I had paid full price, I think I would have been disappointed. Don't get me wrong, the Ninja Combi is a great unit for me so far. It does have a couple flaws which might impact your cooking experience: PROS: - For the Combi, there is no need to "season" it, you can literally cook a meal right away after setting it up. - It does technically deliver on the promise of cooking two things at once (such as making pasta in the casserole dish and air frying veggies on top). However, it does take some practice and you really have to watch your food since the air fryer tray is really close to the top where it's hottest. - So far I've used bake, air fryer, steam, pasta, combi meal, and toast options. Combi performed decently at all of these modes I mentioned, which did help me eliminate 2 appliances (toaster, steamer) from my kitchen. Although the Comb has a massive footprint, it does a lot of work and ultimately helped me save counterspace in my tiny apartment kitchen. I'm excited to try other modes like proof, sous vide, and broil in the future (will update when I do). CONS: - You have to babysit your food. When I steam my frozen veggies only, the Combi was able to sense how long they needed to be steamed. They came out perfectly cooked. However, on Combi Meal mode, it defaults to a 15 minute timer regardless of what's inside. So you have to pay attention -- stir or rotate your food, check for doneness, and generally make sure things don't get burned or overcooked. - If you're using the air fryer tray only, you can fit it into 1 of 2 slots. But if you're using Combi Meal mode, you're in a fixed configuration in which the casserole dish has to be on the bottom and the tray on top. In my opinion, the tray is too close to the burner on top when in this configuration, I wish there was at least 1/2" or more for clearance. I find that my food gets cooked/toasted way too quickly when it's like that. - Cleaning! If you plan to use any of the modes that require filling the casserole dish with water (such as steam, proof, sous vide), you'll need to clean after each use. Ideally, you don't want to leave moisture hanging around, otherwise bacteria will build up and the unit will start to stink. - Also as a part of cleaning: There is a drip tray for water, but it's fixed in place and not detachable. The only way to get rid of the drip tray water is by soaking a dry towel or paper towels in it. Other potential downsides: - Its massive size - Power sucker. Like many air fryers, you literally can't use anything else while this is plugged in and in-use. - I encountered an "ADD POT" error, which required the button on the air fryer to be pressed during cooking. I used an oven-safe creme brulee dish, which seemed to fix the problem. - At the time of this writing, there were no available replacement accessories on Amazon and they were sold out on the Ninja website. I love this thing. Works as it say. Even the steam functions are able to crisp and brown while retaining the moisture. So many great functions. If they could add microwave I would throw my oven and microwave away...you can even Sous vide!

8-19-24 UPDATE: DO NOT buy!!! My thumb got cut deep because the foil wrapper came loose off the tray handle!!! Don’t be fooled!! It is not true stainless steel on those two handles. They are wrapped in foil paper only. The heat will eventually make them peel off and become sharper than a knife blade!! Wish i never bought it!! YOU have been WARNED!!! Old Review: Pros: -very very quiet when it’s on Airfry. Almost seems like it’s not even on. -cooks pretty well -crispy combo makes food pretty crispy but not extra moist as I thought it be, but it could be user error or I may need more time to figure what I need to do different to make it more moist. Cons: -height is too low. If you’re using the Combo option with the water pan, you can only fit one cornish hen BUT you need to flatten the chest. Otherwise the chest will touch the burner coils on top and burn your meat. -since height is low AND the back is deep, flipping the meat/food is difficult. You need to pull the tray very far out but that scares me because it feels like the tray will slide out completely. So I have to pull the tray completely out onto my countertop to flip the food. Very inconvenient. -no handle so opening the door is very awkward and inconvenient. You need to use one hand to open the door and one hand to brace the vent area on top. -when using the Combo option, smoke and steam will be excessive and will stink up and fog up the whole room!! -difficult to clean the top because the burner coils are on top. I would have NOT bought this had I known these cons. I’m only keeping it because it’s all stainless steel inside (tray and pan aren’t stainless steel) and I’m tired of looking for another all stainless steel air fryer.
