Description

This 13 Gal Stainless Steel touchless trash can is designed and engineered by NINESTARS, the world's first legal patent holder. With its sleek rectangular fingerprint-resistant design, it can be used almost any place, such as the home, office, kitchen, bedroom, dorm room or a kid's room. This durable trash can uses the most advanced sensor technology which can be found in all Ninestars trash cans. Pass your hand or debris within ten inches or a 130° angle from the infrared sensor and the lid will automatically open. The lid will remain open if debris or hand remains within the range of the infrared sensor. Three seconds after your hand moves away from the lid, it will close automatically. Power lasts up to 6 months in normal daily usage. It includes a ring liner to keep trash bag from public view for a neat and clean appearance.

I don't typically write reviews, much less for products I bought over a year ago, but I wanted to give a shoutout to Nine Stars for this one. We searched long and hard to find a nice-looking stainless steel trash can for our kitchen that actually fit in our space. The automatic lid was honestly just a bonus, but boy am I happy to have it. Our countertop extends out beyond the end of the cabinet, so other trashcans we tried would clang loudly against it when they opened. Or they couldn't be put flush against the cabinet because the opening mechanism protruded out from the back. This trashcan was exactly what we needed. Well-designed, sleek, compact, plenty of capacity, and easy enough to clean (and a lower price than most of the competition). I love that the lid opening mechanism is integrated within the lid and doesn't stick out the back, so it can be flush against a wall. The inside bag holder thing is clever too; no ugly bag overhanging the outside of the can, and it never falls in by accident. Shockingly, I'm pretty sure we're on the same batteries as when we bought it last year! Only thing that could maybe be improved: The sensor seemed a little too sensitive at first, so the lid would open when we walk by. Maybe the sensor angle or sensitivity could be adjusted so it only opens when you want it to...but hardly a deal-breaker for us. I'd give it 9 stars if I could. ... show more

Had this for a few months. Really functional and operates as it should. Not too heavy. Nice stainless steel finish and easy to keep clean. I like the additional piece that holds the trash bag in place. Take just one battery which lasts. You can work it automatically or manually. I switched to the NINESTARS DZT-50-28BR Automatic Touchless Trash Can after my previous foot-pedal one finally broke beyond repair. At first, I accidentally bumped into the sensor lid, but after getting used to it, it's been working smoothly and effortlessly. The automatic opening and closing are very convenient, making disposal much more hygienic. However, compared to my previous trash can of the same capacity, this one feels slightly smaller, and I wish the opening was a bit wider for easier disposal of larger items. Overall, it's a reliable and modern trash can, great for hands-free use, but a wider opening would make it even better. ... show more

I replaced a somewhat similar trash can with this one. The former was also motion sensing but had become unreliable. It would open, then it would. It would open randomly and never shut. This unit is working great as a replacement. It’s performed perfectly in opening and closing accurately. I don’t use much lighting (ok none) early in the morning and yet it still opens in the dark when I wave over the sensor. I like the square design as it holds more than the round one we had before so space is not wasted in the back. I’ve noticed it does seem to hold in odors well and the bag retaining loop is nice. It looks nice and functions, but doesn't come with batteries, the bag is slow to get attached unless you don't care that it sticks out, and it seems overly sensitive and opens if you just walk by it.
