Description

The town of Old Saybrook was first settled on the coast of Connecticut in 1635. It quickly became a center of trade and education. Viscount Saye and Baron Brooke sponsored the small colony that would become their namesake. The Saye coat of arms featured the lion rampant while the Brooke coat of arms featured the holy cross. As such, the lion with angel wings fittingly represents Saybrook Sleep. The winged lion marks leadership and innovation, and it also happens to be the symbol of Venice. Northern Italy, the design center of the world, inspired some of the unique motifs in Saybrook pillows. This pillow is the only thing that stopped my neck pain. It does take a bit to adjust to how you need it, but it doesn’t flatten and compress during the night and I can roll from my side and my back without having to completely readjust and wake up. It’s a very expensive pillow, but after trying solid memory foam, latex, adjustable latex, and a bunch of other memory foam pillows , I won’t sleep with another. It’s firm, yet soft. It took me a day or so to get used to it, but the foam is high quality and high density as it has a slower response rate. This means it conforms much better. My pillow didn’t have a smell at all. My biggest complaint about a couple of the other memory foam pillows I tried was that they slept too hot, this one doesn’t sleep hot at all. It seemed like it would because the pillow case is thick, but cooling. I do refluff mine once every couple of days just to keep it in good shape. ... show more

I'm not exaggerating when I say I have been looking for a pillow for months now. My favorite pillow I probably had for 20 years I finally had to get rid of due to neck pain. I didn't realize finding a new one would be so difficult. Every new pillow I ordered and tried eithier wasn't comfortable or I would wake up with neck pain. I did find one from my chiropractor that worked but wasn't my favorite in the world. But at least I wasn't waking up with neck pain during my search. Also was getting frustrated with some places requiring return fees or shipping fees to return them. I was reading online reviews and someone did a test of different ones for side sleepers and recommended this. This was my first "adjustable" pillow I got. The inside padding seemed pretty good quality and after 2 nights, I am in love. I'm a side sleeper and still need support, but don't want my head to be turned up too much, or have that bump that so many pillow have in my neck. Super not comfortable. I also didn't like ones where your head has to stay in the middle of the pillow the whole time as I do toss at night or like to find the cool spot of the pillow. I have to admit once it unraveled and fluffed up, I probably took out half of the memory foam inside. But for the first time in what seems like months, I'm excited to lay on a pillow again. It's flat like I like it, and firm, but just squishy enough so not like sleeping on a board and can hold. My wife thinks it's too firm for her but she likes to sleep on super squishy pillows. The one very minor critique is the first night it seemed to get a little warm, but I just put a cooling pillow case over it and all fixed. I ordered this pillow a few years ago and it was good quality, on the firmer side. I ordered it again last year and the quality of the stuffing was completely different, and very poor, no better than any cheap pillow you can get on Amazon. Since this has happened to me before with other brands, including Coop, I decided to try one more time and see what I got. Third time was a charm. This time I got a great pillow with good quality, supportive, gel foam filling. I think this filling is still different from the first pillow, but not in a bad way. It is comfortable and squishy, but still offers adequate support. I am a side and back sleeper with a smaller frame. This pillow does not come with a bag of extra filling, however it is so over stuffed I can't imagine anyone needing more. I had to remove enough to fill another pillow! So I took off a star as I am not sure about the consistency of this product over time, in terms of what you will get. If I ordered it again it may be completely different. Sigh. Or the bad one may have been a fluke. In any case I would recommend trying this pillow on the assumption you will receive a good one. I am really impressed with the pillow this time around. The media could not be loaded. First of all, I never leave product reviews, but this seemed significant enough to share with others who might be having the same problems. Secondly, I sleep on my stomach, and have had a hard time finding a comfortable pillow that supports my head, but does not leave my neck feeling kinked up or weirdly aligned. For years I have woken up with shoulder pain and a kink in my neck from sleeping on my stomach with my arm under my head and pillow. I have tried fixing my sleep position, but even when I fall asleep on my back, I wake up on my stomach like this. So it has been a constant problem for most of my adult life. After a ton of research I decided to try these Saybrook adjustable pillows and after three nights of sleeping on them my neck/shoulder pain is completely gone. I ended up buying two of them. Took about half the stuffing out on one (the one I use to sleep on my stomach) and about a third of the stuffing out of the other (the one I use to prop my head up for reading or relaxing in bed). There was actually so much stuffing that I am thinking about buying another case and using the extra stuffing to create a third pillow! 😅 The stuffing is so soft and comfortable. It doesn't bunch up or clump up like many of the others I have tried before. Especially the down pillows or other "premium/luxury" brands. When you lay on it, it feels like a solid pice of foam that just cradles your head and neck comfortably and retains the shape while providing great support. If you are looking for an affordable pillow that will give you a great night sleep while perfectly supporting your head no matter what position you sleep in I would definitely recommend giving this one a try. P.s. When you first get the pillow, remove it from the bag and throw it in the dryer on gentile cycle for about 10 minutes to fluff it up and get the full loft before you start removing or adjusting the foam. ... show more
