Love everything about this except the lift bar for the bag broke after several months. After working with it I can still use it just a little aggravating. I like the wide mouth which fills the whole trash bag, and the way the lid will stay open if needed like while cooking you can just toss into trash without using foot pedal. My first one of these cans was almost by accident. I went to a local big-box store hoping to find a stainless kitchen trash can made in the USA or Canada to replace the one I lost in a fire at my former home. Sadly there were no metal kitchen cans on the shelf that were made in the Western Hemisphere, so I settled for this can which was the most robust looking of the available options that were made in the USA. After 7 years this can is still working well. It holds the liners well, the lid opens easily by hand or with the foot pedal and it remains in the open position if you want. It uses standard 13 gallon liners. The lid lifting mechanism has some metal parts, it pivots easily and stays connected to the can. I won’t detail all the ways a trash container with a foot operated lid can fail, if you’ve had them I’m sure you know well enough. If you want to support a USA based business and still get a can that will last a decade or more, this one should be a good fit. I recently bought another from Amazon because they aren’t available locally anymore. The new one arrived a little deformed from shipping and the lid didn’t fully close. Well, here's my initial review: While this is a classic Rubbermaid quality trash can, and appears well made, there are a couple drawbacks: 1) Standard 13-gallon trash bags (I use Glad) are an extremely tight fit--I would almost say they DON'T fit; with the gizmos that are supposed to lock the trash bags in place, by the time I wrestled the trash bag over them, I had to REALLY struggle to get them to go back into place so I could get the lid closed. I'm not looking forward to doing this every time I remove a trash bag, I can tell you. I may end up just pulling the trash bag over the outside edge of the can, as I did with my old one. 2) Attaching the lid to the can initially was a challenge. It took me about 10 or 15 minutes to assemble that. There are no instructions of how best to attach the mechanism that makes the step-on foot peddle work, for starters. Update: ten months later, I now hate, hate, HATE this can! The lovely inner band that the bag is supposed to slip over falls off now and has to be wrestled back into place, time after time. Trash can liners don't FIT this band, so changing the bags is a constant struggle. I am in the market for another trash can. I'm bummed, as this was not cheap, and Rubbermaid is usually a good brand, but they should hang their head after producing this can. ... show more

Did not have any of the issues mentioned in reviews for this model. Lid arrived attached and in working order. Stickers came off easily. No scuffs, dents or scratches. Came wrapped securely. Arms work as expected without any issues. Lid closes as expected. Is a light plastic so can move when stepping but, ours is against a wall so not an issue. I would not have paid full price but was on sale at 50% off. Original price of $50 is a bit much for a trash can. Especially one of lighter type molded plastic. Some of the reviews and videos are for the other models as well which I think added to some confusion in some of these reviews. The basic model has a plastic step not metal for example. ... show more

It was a challenge to get the lid on, but it's staying on well. It opens easily and holds open as long as I have my foot fully on the pedal. It's a nice size. The tall kitchen trash bags do fit, but you have to follow the directions and lift the arms to get it on. That took some getting used to, but the bag doesn't slip and it's actually easier to get off since I just lift the arms again. I'm very happy with the purchase, and my cat can no longer try to help himself to the trash- though he's been perching on top of it. I'm glad it's sturdy! ... show more
