My first one of these cans was almost by accident. I went to a local big-box store hoping to find a stainless kitchen trash can made in the USA or Canada to replace the one I lost in a fire at my former home. Sadly there were no metal kitchen cans on the shelf that were made in the Western Hemisphere, so I settled for this can which was the most robust looking of the available options that were made in the USA. After 7 years this can is still working well. It holds the liners well, the lid opens easily by hand or with the foot pedal and it remains in the open position if you want. It uses standard 13 gallon liners. The lid lifting mechanism has some metal parts, it pivots easily and stays connected to the can. I won’t detail all the ways a trash container with a foot operated lid can fail, if you’ve had them I’m sure you know well enough. If you want to support a USA based business and still get a can that will last a decade or more, this one should be a good fit. I recently bought another from Amazon because they aren’t available locally anymore. The new one arrived a little deformed from shipping and the lid didn’t fully close. Love everything about this except the lift bar for the bag broke after several months. After working with it I can still use it just a little aggravating. I like the wide mouth which fills the whole trash bag, and the way the lid will stay open if needed like while cooking you can just toss into trash without using foot pedal. The bag is easliy removed when full too which is wonderful. ... show more

It’s a trash can, right? If it can’t be hidden from sight you want it to not be an eyesore. It’s not an eyesore. It also is a very poorly designed trash can. I could not find a single trash bag that would fit properly. You can hook the bag into the sides of the inner barrel but if you try to hook it in at the front or the back, the sides come out. If you manage to hook the front or the back with the sides still attached, the whole inner holder pops up and the top won’t close. I read tutorials and watched videos on how to do it and nothing worked. Like nothing!!! After a week I couldn’t take it anymore and I threw the whole thing out. I didn’t want to pay $50 for a trash can which is why I bought this one but I guess sometimes you really do get what you pay for. In this case, skip the middle man and just throw away your money. You’re going to end up throwing it away anyway if you buy this. My advice is to skip this one and just get something nicer from another brand. This is my second purchase from this brand so that kind of stupid is on me. Never again. If I hadn’t moved and ended up with a smaller space under the sink for a trash can I wouldn’t have had to buy a new one. The $5 trash bin I purchased a local clearance store was just fine in my last place for the 6 years I lived there. This one barely made it 6 days. Nope. Don’t do it. Waste of money but more important a waste of valuable time I spent trying to make it work. Total disappointment. ... show more

Did not have any of the issues mentioned in reviews for this model. Lid arrived attached and in working order. Stickers came off easily. No scuffs, dents or scratches. Came wrapped securely. Arms work as expected without any issues. Lid closes as expected. Is a light plastic so can move when stepping but, ours is against a wall so not an issue. I would not have paid full price but was on sale at 50% off. Original price of $50 is a bit much for a trash can. Especially one of lighter type molded plastic. Some of the reviews and videos are for the other models as well which I think added to some confusion in some of these reviews. The basic model has a plastic step not metal for example. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I loved this trash can until I wasn’t so happy with it. I realize I’m a year past the warranty, but I expected a Rubbermaid product to hold up for more than two years. The problem? A piece that connects a “liner arm” to the can broke off and now it won’t stay down properly. The lid stays open a bit unless I push it down or there’s enough in the bag to pull the arm down. BTW, I’m in my 70s with no kids or animals in my house and do my best to take care of my possessions. I did not handle this in any rough manner. I’m looking to get a new can but it probably won’t be this one as it costs 25$ more than I paid for it in 2022. ... show more
