  • Works Flawlessly
I used it almost every day for oatmeal. It is much quicker than boiling with a kettle. It takes just over 6 minutes to boil this full electric kettle. To boil for my oatmeal is a fraction of that time because it uses much less water. I tested all the safety functions with them working perfectly. I recently used it in back-to-back boils 4 times, and it nailed it perfectly without overheating. That was in combination with boiling tea on the stove. I am impressed with the construction as it has a thick handle, heavy cord plug-in, solid push button and sturdy base that can be set down right after boiling. Call me goofy but I also like the blue LED lights when it is on and, they shut off to let you know it is done boiling. There is slight discoloration after time on the bottom metal where the water boils but does not seem to affect the performance. Be aware this kettle draws a good bit of power so plug it into a receptacle you trust. I am thoroughly satisfied with this purchase. ... show more

  • Some design flaws but otherwise functional
Rating: 3.0 - 3.5 stars The Negatives: 1) The lid release button gets hotter than you might suspect. The external surface of the lid stays hot for a quite a while after use (obviously more so if you haven’t used all the water). While this isn’t ideal, it’s not the primary reason I knocked off a star; the unfortunate design choice is more the Lid Release Button. It’s a large silver-colored circle located in the center of the lid, and it somehow manages to feel hotter to the touch than the surrounding plastic. This was a less-than-pleasant surprise that I discovered when dutifully following the manual’s pre-use instructions (boil a batch of water, pour it out, rinse the kettle). It’s not so hot that it’s a hazard—it just seems bizarre to me that the button people are supposed to press would be hotter than they might expect based on the surrounding plastic. 2) The large on/off switch is on the handle near the top, so it’s easy to hit with the palm of your hand. This typically happens when there’s water in the kettle, since a full kettle feels the most balanced to me when my grip is around the top of the handle. This is lower on my list of gripes, though, because I think you’re more likely to flip the switch to the off position rather than on, and I’m not sure whether it would be actually be problematic to have the kettle already switched on when you put it on a plugged-in power base. I would assume not, so the placement of the switch is likely more of an annoyance than an actual problem. 3) The power cord doesn’t quite fit in the notch in the side of the base where the cord is supposed to exit. The notch is sufficiently tall but too narrow, so you have to press the cord in firmly. After you do, the base does lie flat as intended—it’s just an extremely tight fit, and the thought of the plastic edges scraping against the outer material of the cord makes me wince. To be fair, I don’t know whether there’s any damage to the outer coating of the cord, and I’m not going to take the cord back out of the notch just to inspect it for this review. I just wanted to mention that the coating around the cord might not hold up if it’s repeatedly pushed in and removed (since you’d be giving the edges more chances to actually carve a groove in the coating). The Positives (beyond the fact that it is functional): 1) The blue glow is a fun touch. 2) The on/off switch makes a notable and satisfying click when you press it, similar to a key on a mechanical keyboard. Overall, I’d say this kettle is worth the money if it’s on sale, as I think the positives do outweigh the negatives (particularly once you’re aware of said negatives). I just wouldn’t recommend paying full price for it. ... show more

  • Love it
I absolutely love this kettle. I use it everyday for tea and the fact that it takes all of 3 minutes to boil is amazing. I was worried about the glass but it came in perfect condition even though the box was a little dinged up. The base is a thin plastic circle but very well hidden when the kettle sits on top of it, the lid is a nice push to open & surprisingly the base is stable and the kettle doesn’t move around/wobble. My favorite feature has to be the fact it switches itself off when its done. Another plus is that the company that manufactures it sent a one year warranty voucher inside the box. Glass ... show more

  • Very good quality, fast heating.
I need hot water for my stove-top espresso machine (using pre-heated water in a Biali is recommended and produces a smooth espresso). The Mueller Ultra Kettle arrived well packaged without any visible damage In my experience, using 2 -3 cups of cold water from the fridge, the kettle reaches the boiling point in about 3 minutes, which is a very good speed, considering the water is fridge cold. The design and quality is very good and seems to be quite solid. This my second kettle from Mueller (the first one was damaged when I moved to another house) and I am very happy with the quality and the performance. ... show more

  • It is the fastest kettle I ever imagined
Can't believe I didn't buy this before. For years, I used a stove top tea kettle to heat/boil water for my instant coffee, tea, cup of noodles, cooking, etc.. and it would take so long to waiting for it to be ready. This electric kettle takes seconds to come to a boiling stage, it's beautiful looking and I like that it automatically stops, once boiling stage is reached. Love it! ... show more

  • I like the LEDs in the morning.
I like the LEDs in the morning. When the kettle is finished boiling it just shuts off. It only makes a quiet click and the lights turn off. So no loud buzzer to wake people up. This paired with a smart plug makes my morning coffee quiet, quick and easy. (coffee press)

  • Good kettle for the price
We don't need fancy temperature settings for all the different types of teas so this basic model is good for us. I love that it's glass so you can see how full the kettle is and how close to boiling it is. It boils quickly and efficiently. Some cons are: 1) because it's not insulated, the body does get hot but it's not a problem for us since no one in our house would touch it with bare hands, 2) it's a bit wobby; we don't know if it's meant to be wobbly or is a design flaw but it does feel like it might tip over when you're trying to put the body back on the base. Still, it's inexpensive and does its one job well so I recommend it. ... show more

  • Nicest electric kettle ever.
This is the third one I've ordered. I bought the first one over 5 years ago, and still use it every day. The hinge on the lid finally broke, so I'm waiting to receive new one now. I also ordered one for my mom. She loves how quickly it heats the water. I like that the blue light shines when it is switched on and turns off when the water is hot. I like that it is clear so I can see that it is clean. ... show more
