  • Very Happy with the Miele HX2
We own Miele dishwashers, coffee machines, ovens canister vacuums etc. So you might call me a Miele groupie. However, for stick vacuums I had been a fan of Dyson. However after owning several Dyson over many years, with the constant bad batteries, broken sticks etc, we had enough. Last year we took a chance of this HX2 by Miele. The reviews were mixed and it was expensive. And which deterred us from trying them in the past and staying with Dyson. So we were pleasantly surprised by the quality as compared to our past brands. Battery power and suction are good. And it’s certainly not a flimsy machine. We’ve had for a year. No issues. We bought a second one for another home 6 months ago and it’s going strong with no issues.. We are now buying a 3rd one for for another floor in the house. In the long run, it’s cheaper to pay more for the quality and than to keep buying lesser quality units. Only one area that needs to be improved on this vacuum. It’s not super convenient to empty the canister. It’s made with the typical complicated German engineering to empty it. But all in all we are pleased with these units. And as mentioned, I’m buying the 3rd one today. ... show more

  • Does not suck up Cheerios or cereal
Are you kidding me? Cannot handle a quick cleanup after the kids breakfast!! I paid a fortune for a vacuum cleaner that is not able to pick up Cheerios!! The reason is that the "electrobrush" is too close to the floor. It will push anything bigger than a Cheerio just forward without sucking it up. So you sweep forward over all the breakfast debris, then backwards only to see that you just pushed all of it from one place to another. I bought this on a promotion and stored it until I could gift it at an occasion, trusting in Miele. I should not have. The return window closed and I am left with vacuum that sucks up dust but not much else. Other than that it is quite bulky and on the heavy side, the flexible config options are awkward (be prepared to man-handle), the wall hanger feels cheap and inconvenient to hang the vacuum up there (it doesn't slide in easily, everytime you need to make sure you have it at the exact, precise right angle, plus it's extends more than a foot into the room away from the wall), and it is expensive. ... show more

  • Way better than expected
I’ve had it for a few months now and it’s definitely one of the better hand vacuums. It’s quiet but the suction is powerful. I like having the option to vacuum when my baby is napping. I like it’s ability to switch between the powered brush head from carpet to passive brush on hard surfaces. The build quality is stellar compared to the Dyson V6 I had. The ability for it to stand on its own may not seem all that much but it’s really convenient. Battery life is not bad since you get to choose the amount of power you want to use. The canister may be small but it’s really easy to empty. There is a feature where you can knock off the dust from the canister without using your fingers. If you have a large living space with lots of carpet, think about getting a canister or larger vacuum, but if you need something to perform a quick job this is a perfect choice. Overall a solid vacuum worth the money. ... show more

  • So Far, Works Great.
Our old vacuum (Dyson V11) finally stopped working. Although this vacuum is several hundred dollars more than the latest Dyson models, we have had good luck with other Miele devices so we decided to try the HX2. A little more difficult to breakdown the pieces to configure a smaller version when needed but not too bad. My wife like the fact that the canister can be configured lower to the floor with less weight near the handle and the on/off switch does not require constant trigger pull for power. It has been two weeks now and works well. ... show more

  • Worth the price! Works great on rugs!
Owmed this vaccum for 18 months with no issues at all. First let me say that my wife owns a small cleaning company. We also have a 3700sq foot home that gets cleaned regularly, and 3 dogs. So I've used numerous vaccums for comparison. This vaccum is the absolute best. You can tell just by how much it fills into the canister compared to other vaccumes. RUGS- I don't have any carpet but do have numerous area rugs with different pile heights. This vaccum is my goto anytime a rug getting vacuumed. It doesn't have a manual button to turn on beater bar, it does it automatically but I find the sensors to be very good when engaging and disengaging. I would say the suction on hard surfaces is second to none. It sucks up everything with just one pass and does a great job sucking up bigger things like fluff from dog toys. I find that it rarely if ever gets clogged up. The battery I would say is good but does drain rather quick on high. If you plan on doing and entire house I would recommend getting the one that says -120 minute runtime- which comes with an extra battery. The only complaint I have it that it doesn't have a light on the front of it shining down on the floor. That's only because I find the light on the front of vaccums more satisfying when you can see the fur and dirt disappear. ... show more

  • Service matters (DO NOT BUY)
So the cannister with the little flap that pops out has two plastic nubs that the flap hooks onto. One of these nubs just broke off when we opened the flap. It's a really bad design to have these two nubs part of the main cannister so the cannister has to be replaced. Ours is only 6 months old and it has a 2 year warranty. I have no idea if that breaking is under warranty and would not be all that upset if they said no. However miele won't say. I could easily give them a photo but they don't have anyone in place to look at it or even send me a part under warranty. It has to be seen by a repair center to make the determination. The part is $83 and the repair center wants $69 just to look at it, plus I'll have to make two trips. If they decide no, then I'll end up spending $200 to fix a stick vac because of poor design, but most of that $200 will be due to poor customer service. I just ordered the part for $88. So much for warranty. ... show more
