I prefer a canister vacuum since pushing a heavy upright around is too much work. This is the best canister vacuum I have ever used. The head swivels in convenient ways, it has great power, and it's easy to switch between the carpet head and the floor head. It's also the most I've ever spent on a vacuum so there's that but I think it's worth the price.

A Well-Designed German Engineered Canister Vacuum Cleaner!
I studied the various Miele canister vacuums before making a decision which was the best fit and the best bang-for-the-buck. The Miele Complete C3 Limited Edition fit the bill. I received today. Easy to set up. I thought the vacuum was going to rip up the carpet, it was so powerful! It did a wonderful job cleaning both low pile carpet and hard flooring. This model shows as manufactured in Germany versus the lower level models made in China. I think my only complaint would be that the hose is made of the same plastics used on inexpensive vacuums. Fortunately replacement parts are easy to come by for the Miele (a problem that completely shut down my 20 year old Electrolux Oxygen, where the electrical element in the hose broke and they no longer make replacement parts for that vacuum. Replacement parts and accessories was a big selling point for Miele!). BTW, this model uses the Miele GN bags (which a rather expensive) but there are plenty of third party manufacturers for the GN type bags as well as vacuum accessories for the Miele Complete C3). Overall, I'm extremely happy with the cleaning efficiency of this model as well as the ability to reduce the level of dust expelled in the exhaust airflow. Wonderful German engineering!

Not the best!
This was to replace my old Miele, a great vacuum, but am disappointed. This is garbage, they made some horrible changes. The floor cleaner is HUGE like 4 inches as compared to the 2 and half on the old one. It leaves stuff on the carpet so I get out my stick Bissel (which is great) to pick up stuff the $500 piece of garbage doesn't. The floor brush on the old one had a switch built into the handle, very convenient to go from carpeting to floor but not on this one it is on the brush itself and to switch from carpet to floor I either have to smash it down with the heel of my foot or the heel of my hand, if it was to be easy, it isn't. So consider something else, this is not worth the money

Excellent
Thought Kenmore was the best but now I know better. This thing is crazy amazing, quiet, and light in weight compared to my previous unit. I have all wood floors in my home, hence why I chose this specific version of the C3. A++ for power, design, and value for money.

BEWARE no warranty for non-Canadians!
Great when it works, but arrived with a minor manufacturing defect that required a replacement part. After lots of back and forth, my local repair shop realized that this is a Canadian model and the warranty is only valid in Canada, whereas I live in the States. (Miele confirmed all this.) So I had to go out of pocket for the replacement part. Amazon customer service was great with a partial refund but BEWARE in case you're not based in Canada! As of now the listing DOES NOT mention Canada at all.
