My wife was very disappointed with our Dyson and Simplicity vacuums and we did our research to find the Miele was continually ranked the best. We cringed at the price but bought it hoping to finally get Something to match our 6-person household. After three years, it’s still outperforming any other vacuum we’ve had. Pros: - It works! This thing cleans floors. It gets everything on hardwoods and carpet with the different attachments, and it does it quickly. We keep ours on the high setting at all times. This has double the cleaning performance of our other options. - Powerful! We keep ours on the high settings. When the crevice tool is attached, you can hear the loud suction from 6 feet away. It easily attracts junk from under the fridge from almost a foot away. - Relatively quiet. It’s amazing, but this thing has double the suction of our Dyson and new Bissell, at half the sound. - Relatively lightweight and easy to maintain. Cons: - Price! It’s worth the money but it’s a legit investment. - the bags are expensive somewhat difficult to change out properly. - The hose is well built and won’t kink like our Bissell, which unfortunately makes this hard to store in a small closet.     • This vacuum is super quiet while it does the work!
The vacuum really does a good job cleaning carpeting and upholstery and removing cat hair from upholstery. I was concerned that it was not self propelled, but it is easier to use than my former self propelled HEPA upright, which was so noisy we needed ear protection! The cat used to run and hide when the old vacuum was in use. With the Miele, she naps on the bed while the cleaning is done around her. The design is elegant, sleek, and efficient; all the attachments are stored in the canister. The unit has a terrific HEPA filtration system that is great for allergy sufferers. The user's manual includes many numbered photos and diagrams explaining assembly, use, and maintenance. The one thing we didn't expect was that after 60 hours (equivalent of weekly use) the unit shuts down for a check up. Our unit is used daily, so the shut down occurred much earlier for us. We had difficulty resuming operation but finally figured out that the reset button resolved the problem. This is one snazzy vacuum. Love it! ... show more

    • This vacuum and miehle company are terrible
I spent a year researching vacuums for this price range and quality. They have an amazing reputation. The vacuum suction is amazing. Very disappointed that the vacuum had seems to have some sort of short that keeps showing up and shutting the beater brush off when pushing and pulling. Expected more from this company and its reputation and the price point. The vacuum head is constantly shorting out and miehle's advice was for me to take it in to a local dealer and have it looked at? Why not replace the defective product for $1600 !! Never again purchasing a miehle product. ... show more

I have owned this for 5 months. I am impressed with it overall. Coming from a cheap Hoover upright, this thing is so quiet. I can't believe how much quieter this is even with the powerbrush in use. The HEPA filtration is just about perfection. I smell nothing but pure air while I am vacuuming. No dust particles being expelled back into the room as I vacuum. The SEB 236 powerhead is large and makes getting the carpeting clean simple. It agitates well and is both height adjustable (on the floor brush) and power adjustable (on the handle). The light is bright and useful, I need all the help I can get with my eyes. This is the most expensive model and the only one with controls on the handle. For me it is worth it for those handle controls. Saves me having to bend over to change settings on the floor unit and having to walk back to the floor unit just to make a change. With this I can change on the fly. It has plenty of extension and the electro extension wand is built like a brick s__t house, tough, though a bit heavy. I like the tools that are handily stored in the main housing. I like the Parquet attachment for my kitchen and bathroom tile floors and I like to use this on small area rugs with reduced power.. I use the SEB 236 for the rest of the wall to wall carpeting. The automatic cord rewind has worked flawlessly for the past 5 months. I posted a couple of photos too. SEB 236 Pros: bright led lighting, large area of coverage, great agitation of the carpeting, multiple height adjustments Cons: Heavy piece of equipment, doesn't attach to main housing in the slots for storage, will stand up on its own erectly with careful placement otherwise it could fall over. Electro hose Pros: Heavy duty, mostly pliable, can drag the canister around with no fear of it breaking/tearing Cons: Can be unwieldy at times depending on how much you are contorting it. Electro Telescoping Wand Pros: Heavy duty aluminum, so easy and smooth when using the telescoping feature - it's perfection. Cons: None Comfort Hand Piece (Control Handle) Pros: comfortable, feels good in the hand, controls are easy to use and laid out nicely. Cons: sometimes you can accidently change the power setting while vacuuming if your hand/finger pushes against the control panel. Parquet Attachment Pros: Lightweight, can flip between hard floors and carpet settings with button control, will fit into the canister slot for storage or just taking a break from vacuuming. Cons: none Canister Housing Pros: lightweight, sturdy, rolls easily, nice attachment storage, easy to change bag/filters, power cord automatic wind, protective bumpers all around, LED lighting is cool looking Cons: LED lights don't stay on long enough to be practical after turning the power off. They turn off before I can get to the dark closet to store it. Overall it is a great but pricey vacuum cleaner. There are enough settings for power to satisy most if not all needs. It doesn't lack for power or suction in the least. I strongly recommend getting this model for the handle controls if it's in your budget. However, the SEB 236 powerbrush does not attach to the housing for storage. What I usually do is replace it with the Parquet attachment when I am getting ready to store (see photo) since that attachment will fit in a slot which makes the whole thing more stable and compact for storage (without it the hose/wand would end up leaning on something in the closet or lying on the floor). ... show more

    • Design issues
I love the vacuum design except the connection between the handle and wand is unstable causing me to lose power while vacuuming. I love the range of mobility using the Miele. My other concern is changing the bag. I didn’t have the bag seated correctly and made a mess inside motor area.
