I have owned this for 5 months. I am impressed with it overall. Coming from a cheap Hoover upright, this thing is so quiet. I can't believe how much quieter this is even with the powerbrush in use. The HEPA filtration is just about perfection. I smell nothing but pure air while I am vacuuming. No dust particles being expelled back into the room as I vacuum. The SEB 236 powerhead is large and makes getting the carpeting clean simple. It agitates well and is both height adjustable (on the floor brush) and power adjustable (on the handle). The light is bright and useful, I need all the help I can get with my eyes. This is the most expensive model and the only one with controls on the handle. For me it is worth it for those handle controls. Saves me having to bend over to change settings on the floor unit and having to walk back to the floor unit just to make a change. With this I can change on the fly. It has plenty of extension and the electro extension wand is built like a brick s__t house, tough, though a bit heavy. I like the tools that are handily stored in the main housing. I like the Parquet attachment for my kitchen and bathroom tile floors and I like to use this on small area rugs with reduced power.. I use the SEB 236 for the rest of the wall to wall carpeting. The automatic cord rewind has worked flawlessly for the past 5 months. I posted a couple of photos too. SEB 236 Pros: bright led lighting, large area of coverage, great agitation of the carpeting, multiple height adjustments Cons: Heavy piece of equipment, doesn't attach to main housing in the slots for storage, will stand up on its own erectly with careful placement otherwise it could fall over. Electro hose Pros: Heavy duty, mostly pliable, can drag the canister around with no fear of it breaking/tearing Cons: Can be unwieldy at times depending on how much you are contorting it. Electro Telescoping Wand Pros: Heavy duty aluminum, so easy and smooth when using the telescoping feature - it's perfection. Cons: None Comfort Hand Piece (Control Handle) Pros: comfortable, feels good in the hand, controls are easy to use and laid out nicely. Cons: sometimes you can accidently change the power setting while vacuuming if your hand/finger pushes against the control panel. Parquet Attachment Pros: Lightweight, can flip between hard floors and carpet settings with button control, will fit into the canister slot for storage or just taking a break from vacuuming. Cons: none Canister Housing Pros: lightweight, sturdy, rolls easily, nice attachment storage, easy to change bag/filters, power cord automatic wind, protective bumpers all around, LED lighting is cool looking Cons: LED lights don't stay on long enough to be practical after turning the power off. They turn off before I can get to the dark closet to store it. Overall it is a great but pricey vacuum cleaner. There are enough settings for power to satisy most if not all needs. It doesn't lack for power or suction in the least. I strongly recommend getting this model for the handle controls if it's in your budget. However, the SEB 236 powerbrush does not attach to the housing for storage. What I usually do is replace it with the Parquet attachment when I am getting ready to store (see photo) since that attachment will fit in a slot which makes the whole thing more stable and compact for storage (without it the hose/wand would end up leaning on something in the closet or lying on the floor).

Hi, this is NKlein, the wife. I was a proud, proud Dyson owner... Until I got a Miele. There is no comparison. Really. Not even close. They shouldn't even be in the same category. But if you insist, let's see how they "compare": DYSON: I had to take the whole thing apart every so often to clean the cones and filters that were packet with really fine dust clogging everything. Yes. I know you can pay 75$ to service it at least once a year (as recommended). But I want to clean the house and the thing was not sucking so I had to clean it first. And it is a very laborious job. There are many YouTube videos showing you how to do it. But don't worry, the suction will improve for couple more months...and there you go again... MIELE: no parts that need to be taken apart to clean. Dust goes inside the bag and only inside the bag. DYSON: ok it doesn't use bag. But don't think you can just push the button and the whole thing will just get dumped in the trash can. Yes. You have to take the whole outer plastic out to get the hair and lint that stuck around the cone (you have to use your hands). And that disgusting dust that you took out of your house, now is all over you. MIELE: When it is full, just replace the bag. DYSON: EXTREMELY LOUD!!! WHAT??! I CAN'T HEAR YOU. MIELE: You can have your music playing while you clean the house. DYSON: doesn't really fluffy the pile of the carpet. MIELE: it revived all the carpets and area rugs of my house. I didn't even know that would be possible without shampooing the carpet. DYSON: expensive and not worthy MIELE : expensive. And it is worthy every penny. The Brilliant allows you to clean the entire house without changing head brush, because you can control the power and turn the power brush on and off. It comes with 3 head brushes. This is a five star plus machine. I am Extremely satisfied with my purchase. DYSON: gets weaker over time (2 to 5 years). That's why I have 2. But after my second Dyson got very very weak in less than 2 years I decided to just get a MIELE. I have other MIELE stuff and I know they might seem expensive at first, but it saves you money and time and frustration along the way.

Since 1995 I have had 4-5 generations of Miele vacuums. They all have been their top-of-the-line models and they all have lasted 8-12 years. This past November we decided to relocate our last model (only 5-6 years old to another of our properties) and with that we went ahead and purchased two (2) brand new “Brilliant C3” model Miele vacuums. Fast forward to when we used the 1st time and each time subsequently: the motorized brush-head would intermittently yet constantly cut out as if there was a short in power or power was momentarily getting discounted and reconnected as the brush-head was going back and forth! That was the 1st issue! Next after having finished vacuuming, we opened the canister to check on the vacuum bag where we noticed that there is a ton of dust inside the belly/enclosure of the canister where the vacuum bag is installed! This belly/enclosure opening where the hose attaches to supposed to be completely sealed between the canister’s hose intake on the enclosure led and the surround to the vacuum bag AND yet it wasn’t! We noticed that even upon PROPERLY closing the canister’s led the vacuum bag inside the belly/enclosure gets pulled out of its proper placement causing for the internal break in the seal between the vacuum bag’s opening and the led opening into the bag! No matter how gently, carefully, and all-around properly the canister led is closed, this misalignment and ultimately break in the seal between the bag and the canister. THIS CAUSE ALL SORTS OF DIRT GETTING INTO THE CANISTER’S ENCLOSURE WHICH IS VERY BAD AND NOT SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN AT ALL. Photos show this issue! Closer examination of this issue shows this to be an design and/or manufacturing issue. Having taken this unit to the local Miele dealer these issues were verified. Both Miele Brilliants here suffered from the same exact issue. We returned both and purchase 2 more about 2 months later. Again the same exact issues!!! Looking over the Net we are noticing now that we are not the only ones with these issue with this top-of-the-line model! Now we have to determine what vacuum brand we can buy in lieu of Miele!

My wife was very disappointed with our Dyson and Simplicity vacuums and we did our research to find the Miele was continually ranked the best. We cringed at the price but bought it hoping to finally get Something to match our 6-person household. After three years, it’s still outperforming any other vacuum we’ve had. Pros: - It works! This thing cleans floors. It gets everything on hardwoods and carpet with the different attachments, and it does it quickly. We keep ours on the high setting at all times. This has double the cleaning performance of our other options. - Powerful! We keep ours on the high settings. When the crevice tool is attached, you can hear the loud suction from 6 feet away. It easily attracts junk from under the fridge from almost a foot away. - Relatively quiet. It’s amazing, but this thing has double the suction of our Dyson and new Bissell, at half the sound. - Relatively lightweight and easy to maintain. Cons: - Price! It’s worth the money but it’s a legit investment. - the bags are expensive somewhat difficult to change out properly. - The hose is well built and won’t kink like our Bissell, which unfortunately makes this hard to store in a small closet. We basically just push ours in as we close the door and hope for the best. If you can afford it, buy it.

After less than two years of lite use the powerhead stopped working completely. This unit was a replacement for another C3 Brilliant which had the same issue on the very first use of the vacuum. Per Miele service I must transport the unit to one of their chosen service centers before they will decide to honor the warranty or not. That would be 2 ferry trips, $140, and 4 hours of time to take it there and then return, another $140, to pick it up. Not worthy of the $1600.00 price sadly; where's Kirby when you need them?

*Edited to Add; It's been over a year, and it's still performing as if it was right out of the box. Highly recommended.* I have owned many different vacuum cleaners over the years. Until recently, I though that my old Dyson was the best vacuum money could buy, but I was so wrong. This little gem can pull sand and dirt out of rugs that were recently vacuumed, looked clean. Going back to using filters is a bit of a bummer, but the filter bags for this model truly do trap in dust and pet odors. The air expelled has no scent at all, and the inside of the canister remains clean. For allergy sufferers, this vacuum is a must. The cord is extraordinarily long, which is a huge plus as you don't have to stop and find a new outlet every 20 feet. The machine itself is remarkably maneuverable, and the lighting truly helps in navigating dark corners, etc. The entire apparatus is not very heavy, even with the powerhead. The attachments that came with the canister are great; bare floor, parquet floor, motorized brush head with light, crevice, upholstery, and small circular brush. The smaller tools fit on-board in a very convenient covered compartment. The wand is made of a thick metal (!!!) and telescopes precisely, instead of into pre-cut channels like most. The wand has an incredible reach as well. The convenience of having the controls in the handle can't be overstated; and the option of reducing vacuum noise by reducing suction is a fantastic detail, although I'd only recommend doing that if you're vacuuming bare floors rather than carpet. All in all, given the incredible warrantee, the solid build, along with the great features, this vacuum is well worth every penny.

The vacuum really does a good job cleaning carpeting and upholstery and removing cat hair from upholstery. I was concerned that it was not self propelled, but it is easier to use than my former self propelled HEPA upright, which was so noisy we needed ear protection! The cat used to run and hide when the old vacuum was in use. With the Miele, she naps on the bed while the cleaning is done around her. The design is elegant, sleek, and efficient; all the attachments are stored in the canister. The unit has a terrific HEPA filtration system that is great for allergy sufferers. The user's manual includes many numbered photos and diagrams explaining assembly, use, and maintenance. The one thing we didn't expect was that after 60 hours (equivalent of weekly use) the unit shuts down for a check up. Our unit is used daily, so the shut down occurred much earlier for us. We had difficulty resuming operation but finally figured out that the reset button resolved the problem. This is one snazzy vacuum. Love it!

Is this quiet for the power it has? Yes. Is it light weight? Yes. Does it do a good job? Yes. Is it worth the price tag of $1,599.00? No. I am not disappointed with the performance of the vacuum. I am incredibly disappointed with the price tag. Update: Now the power keeps dropping out on the carpet attachment
