  • Great performance and value
I now also have a second unit from a different vendor. Ordered 2nd unit from the same vendor in China but received a note and rebate from Amazon indicating a problem with customs. 2nd unit ordered from a US vendor. Both units arrived with a bit of denting in the sheetmetal but with some plier work the deformations could be corrected to not affect assembly or appearance. In both cases I had the most corrective work with the 3.5" post to get the burner head to fit on it. (Interesting aside - the post ended up being a bit oval in shape after my reshaping which was actually useful when using my arthritic hands to force it onto the head gasket because I could rotate it to get the gasket inside it.). The second unit had a tear in the bottom plate at the bolt that holds the base weight to the sheet metal base, so I added a stainless washer to reinforce it. The battery powered ignition works like a charm. Full on really does produce a toasty 47k btu, so we haven't had to use it much in Michigan yet. The max heat occurs as a circle at about 4' from post at table height - it diminishes from there the further in or out you move from the unit. I'm guessing I would get about 8 hours of full on high from a new propane tank. At low setting the heat is less than 50% of full but after 20 hours we haven't gone through a tank yet. LED table is a nice touch. The sheet metal tank doors work fine. While the very thin gauge of the sheetmetal doesn't compare to $1500 commercial NG patio heaters, I think with a little care this economical and lightweight propane heater will serve our deck for many years. We love our two. I built a support and tie off into our deck rail for the first unit (and now also one for the second) and it survived the 4 days of 70 mph wind we had without a wrinkle. ... show more

  • Very pleased with this heater.
We've had the Member's Mark Patio Heater only a few weeks, but are very pleased with it. I was able to assemble it in a couple hours. I'm a female in my late 60's. It certainly took longer than the 30 minutes that was suggested. I probably spent that much time just pulling the protective wrap from the Dome pieces and the Cylinder Housing piece. The Housing piece was assembled after it was wrapped, so it was time consuming to pull the sticky paper from around the screws and hinges. I am glad this was done, as to keep the products from getting scratched during packaging. The dome and the top of the pole were dented, but I was able to either push or bend the dents out. I really appreciated all the hardware being in one sealed package. After the heater was assembled, I could not get it to ignite. After a review of instructions, I discovered I had the ignition battery in backwards. I had failed to see this in the instructions. Once corrected, the burner started immediately and has run well, sending a nice amount of heat within a 4 to 5 foot radius. The LED table is great to set drinks on while sitting around the heater. I also ordered the Siruiton cover that was recommended with the heater. I liked the reasonable price and it fit perfectly. Living in Iowa, I will not keep the heater on our deck during the winter, even with the cover, but will keep it outside until the snow flies. I have recommended this product to several friends. It's a good product at a good price! ... show more

  • Good heater and a great price (see details). Recommended
I got the Member's Mark Patio Heater with LED Table + Wheels for Moving on sale, after seeing the deal mentioned on Kinja. I didn't know that Member's Mark was the Sam's house brand, or I may have just driven over and seen if the online price was competitive. Regardless, there's something to be said for the convenience of having a big box just show up at your house :) The patio heater shows up in a single, large box. There's some Styrofoam and cardboard, but some of the pieces of my heater still managed to have some minor dings, but nothing serious enough to send the item back over. The heater comes with most of the major assemblies intact. Basically, you affix wheels to the base, attach the bottom assembly to the base, put on the top column, slide table on, put on the burner assembly, and assemble and attach the hat reflector. It took me between 15 and 20 minutes, but you could do it faster if you were motivated. If there was one thing I'd change, it would be to have a one-piece reflector. In order to keep the box size down, the reflector is shipped in 5 pieces - 4 quadrants of an outer ring, and a center "hat". Assembly takes 16 screws and 16 nuts, and is by far the longest and most irritating part of the process. Also, from the standpoint of weather resistance I'd have preferred it to be a single piece. Another minor gripe is that the table uses a 9V battery, and is super dim... I may rip it apart and stick some 5050s in it. As far as the heater goes, it pretty much looks and works as well as the ones at restaurants with outdoor seating in the fall/winter. Little touches here and there, like the wheels, are the only real indication that you didn't spend 2x or 3x the amount on a "nicer" unit. Recommended. ... show more

  • Easy assembly
Well manufactured, the pieces assemble quickly and fit together well. While one person could assemble this heater, it was great to have an extra set of hands while feeding the gas hose down through the post, and while hand tightening the screws and bolts on the top assembly. I especially liked the well labelled blister pack for the several different bolts and screws. It was a snap to locate the right piece of hardware just when you needed it, and only then, eliminating piles of mixed hardware and reducing the risk of hardware spilling. I included a photo of the blister pack to show you how well it is thought out. Recommend assembling this in a large space because it is quite big. I assembled it on the patio that will be it's new home. ... show more

  • Easy assembly, looks good, lots of heat
The patio heater came today. Other than the top heat reflector assembly was a snap. We got it all put together in about an hour, used new brand name batteries and it started first try. The heat seemed great but it’s in the seventies in NJ this afternoon so it wasn’t a true test. We’ll see better on a cool evening. I like having doors to install the propane tank rather than having to lift the whole base. It looks great on our patio and hopefully will supply a nice warmer for cool days and nights. ... show more
