An arctic cold front hit our area with temperatures in the negatives for over a week. We live in a fairly warm climate, so our outside animals were at risk. We bought two and used them to heat up a covered enclosure. It kept them at a balmy 50 degrees when the temperatures outside were negative 15 degrees. The area was 15' x 20' and the walls had cardboard and a thick plastic lining to keep wind and snow out. The plastic helped act as insulation and collect the heat. These heaters are quiet, put out a lot of heat, and didn't trip our breakers like the other heaters we tried. We kept them clear of anything flammable - just concrete and a glass table top. Small but potent! The best thing I like about this item is when there is a power surge and the other heaters I used to use would not restart and had to be manually restarted. This heater resumes heating with the return of power. During the recent unusually cold Texas winter ( temperature to -5f) this baby gave my plants a fighting chance - specially at night with the power off and on in rolling blackouts. ... show more

The heater works great for small greenhouse. kept the temperature above around 15 degrees warmer than the outside. However the on/off switch is already messed up and will not turn to change settings or turn off.

Heater works well if the space isn't super cold already. Can warm up a single room to a comfortable temperature if its just a little chilly. If you're wanting something to keep your garage or workshop decently warm on a cold night, this doesnt have adequate capacity. For really cold temperatures (below freezing), this will only keep a small corner warm. If youre using your workshop on a cold night and just need something to keep your hands and worktop warm, this would work great. Anything more than that and this is too small. Ran it for close to 24 hours continuously at one point and checked on it regularly and the housing never got hot to worry about burning a surface. ... show more

I bought this because of the winter storm we had unexpectedly in Texas. I don't have a greenhouse, so I put my pots in our little shed. I wanted a heater that I could control the heat well, so I don't melt the shed. This little beauty really does the job! I went to check on it every couple hours and the setting I out it on, made it to where the inside of the shed was just at 40ish degrees when the outside reached 20. Awesome!
