This tool isn’t new or high-tech, but it is the most important tool to use before you tear into something. Start by poking around with this in your machinery even before you suspect a problem so you will know how things should sound when they’re healthy and then when something doesn’t seem right, you can find exactly where that sound originates before you start tearing it down. Remember once you start tearing it apart and don’t see the problem, it’s too late to use the stethoscope. Grab this tool before any others.

For a looong time, I have suffered through all manner of annoying sounds in my vehicles and from my appliances and other gear. As cool as a medical stethoscope is, I need something that can touch hot surfaces, specifically my car engine. So, I made this item mine. I like the tool's simplicity. It's no frills and no nonsense yet offers good quality construction. I like the ability to add another piece of probe to the scope for hard-to-reach areas. However, I wish the company had included a retaining clip, as the probe extension will most likely disappear into the bowl of my toolbox. Don't look for instructions -- there are none. But that's okay because there's nothing to learn. Put them in your ears, add the extension probe if needed, and poke around until you find the noise's source. If you are like me and want to diagnose and resolve sounds you shouldn't be hearing rather than cranking the radio, add this excellent little tool to your toolkit.

Seems to work fine, but I couldn't find the source of the air leaks in my vacuum infusion setup, I think it works better for louder noise.

I like how long the probe is without the attachment, and I like that the attachment triples the length for delving deep. The probe is just a metal rod, but it's extremely sensitive. Simply tapping on the end produces very loud sounds.

It feels a bit on the flimsy side, but despite that, it performs its job well. It’s sensitive enough to pick up the subtle sounds needed to identify problems in a car engine or detect water leaks, making it a useful addition to a mechanic’s or DIYer’s toolbox. I ordered this stethoscope because of its sensor. I have a traditional stethoscope with small membrane sensor, but it is hard to pinpoint the source of noise using that. I thought that for $7 the stethoscope would not be of good quality and I would just connect the sensor end to mine. However, I was mistaken. This product is prettty good. Tubes, earpieces, and sensor are well made and function great. Not professional quality, but excellent for the price and great value.
