Description

Ultra Violet Ultra Violet is a super cool, blue-toned violet dye that can even give unbleached hair violet tones. For the most vibrant results, we recommend lightening hair to very light level 9 blonde or lighter before use. 1. Wash hair with a deep cleansing/clarifying shampoo. Do not condition. 2. Dry hair with a blow dryer to make sure the hair is extremely porous. 3. Put on gloves and apply Manic Panic Hair Color using a tint brush making sure hair is thoroughly saturated. 4. Comb through the hair color to make sure it is evenly applied. The cream may become slightly frothy. 5. Cover hair with a plastic cap and leave on for 30-45 minutes. For more intensity, add heat. 6. Rinse with cool water away from your face and body until water runs clear. Do not shampoo. 7. Style as desired. To prevent color transfer or bleeding, always make sure your hair is completely dry. Pro Tip: Use a hair dryer to evenly apply heat for 5-10 minutes of your processing time. This will help to open up the cuticle and allow the Manic Panic hair color to better penetrate the hair strand. Make sure to allow the hair to cool completely before rinsing out color.

First off, BEWARE! This may turn a blueish/greenish on virgin, dirty blonde hair when it is fading out. I bought this in order to mix with the Fuschia Shock color from Manic Panic but also did a few strands of just Ultra Violet for my nieces. When it was washing out, it did turn quite a sickly color so that wasn't nice... However, it is a great, cheap toner. I have dyed ash-blonde hair and use this every other wash to keep from going yellow/brassy and maintaing a more natural hue. I know that Manic Panic also sells a toner specifically for white hair but I feel like this is a better value since it is so saturated that I only need to mix slightly less than a teaspoon amount into a handful of regular conditioner. Instead of buying the pricey "purple toning conditioner" I create my own! I have used this jar of dye for this purpose for 6 months now, twice a week, and it's still more than halfway full. Great value! Even distilled with 4 parts conditioner to 1 part dye, its stains badly, so mix your conditioner and dye with a stick of some sort first. Then, when in the shower, apply with your hands like regular conditioner after shampooing, making sure to work it into all of your hair. You have to do this pretty quickly or rinse your hands often in the process because it does leave your palms and nails purple. Then I twist up into a bun on top of my head and let it sit while I shave and all that. About 10 minutes. I rinse and that's all! Toned, cool blonde hair at a fraction of the cost. ... show more

I let my 6 y/o dye her hair a few weeks before school - we did not strip out her hair beforehand, and it's a medium brown color. It gave her a nice purple color at the ends and we faded it up towards the scalp. It was definitely noticeable, and she loved it. It washed out in about 3 weeks, just in time for school! Lighter hair would probably take longer to wash out. The process was pretty straightforward - because she couldn't wait to wash it out, we only put it on for about 30 minutes and wrapped her head in plastic to keep it from getting on everything. First of all, I want to say that I LOVED the color of my hair right after dying it (over previously bleached hair). The purple came out bright and vibrant and EXACTLY what I was looking for. I also loved the way my hair felt right after rinsing it out. It was soft and conditioned feeling. Unfortunately, the color faded almost immediately. Even just wetting my hair made the color fade. By the time I washed it again, the color was fading to a lavender/gray. I would have to re-dye my hair weekly, or at least ever other week to keep up with the color. I have short hair, so it only took a small amount of dye. I could see it becoming costly if I had long hair which required more dye to upkeep. I just don't have the time on my hands to keep re-dying it over and over. A pro is (if you have that kind of time) you can re-dye with manic panic over and over without drying out your hair because it is so natural and actually GOOD for your hair. I've used manic panic in the past and haven't really been disappointed yet. I got the ultra violet and just used it on the ends of my hair. While indoors, it looks more purple, when I'm outside, its a beautiful shade of indigo and I absolutely love it. Its a semi-permanent so don't expect it to last forever though. Mine fades after four or five washes, but then I just color it again and it looks great again. The tub I bought lasted about 4 color sessions. The picture I posted with this review was after 1 wash so as you can see, it still stays vibrant for a bit. Love the color and will definitely buy again! ... show more

I dyed my hair chocolate brown a few months ago on top of my blonde highlighted hair. The summer sun has bleached it to a light yellowy brown with a lot of red and orange tones while my roots are a cool brown. Needless to say, it did not look good. I did not want to completely dye it again but needed to tone it without causing too much damage. I found some online articles about using this and it works miracles! Add about two teaspoons to a cup of white conditioner and mix until you get a light lavender color. Then add the mixture to where you want to tone in your hair. The first time, I left it on for about 25 minutes because I was afraid of actually dying it purple. I have a lot of orange tones in my hair so I had to do it again for about 40 minutes. I would recommend doing it for 30 minutes if you don't need to tone it much or 1 to 1.5 hours if you need lots of toning (like me hah). After the time is up, rinse with cool water until the water runs clear and it feels like all the conditioner is off your hair. Since doing this I have received so many compliments on my "new" color! It also doubles as a deep conditioning treatment because it's mostly conditioner! Win-Win **I've also seen blondes use this technique but leave it on for a shorter amount of time. LOVE manic panic. I make sure its thoroughly in my hair (i use a comb to make sure i don't miss any spots) then i just leave it in my hair for about 3 hrs. Some times ill use a blow dryer. It is semi permanent, which i love. I will stain your fingers, so i would use gloves and be careful not to let it sit on any surface as it will stain that. Also as a tip, put Vaseline around the hair line and your ears, so it wont stain your skin. it will just wipe right off . Just gently wash it out in cool water and you're good to go :) I use a little bit of it mixed in with my conditioner when i shower, just to keep the color fresh. Since its semi perm, the color will wash out a little with every wash. I not only use this color, i use a few different colors. I will always use this product. :) ... show more
