Description

The MPG586XJ EcoLight 2 J-Rack Package is designed to carry two medium sized touring or recreational kayaks. Each trailer comes with two sets of J-style kayak carriers that work best with traditional V-style hulls. Each unit is DOT and Transport Canada certified and proudly built in the USA for years of dependable use. Provides safe travel up to a maximum of 65 mph while transporting loads up to 400 lbs. Features a reinforced extra-long tongue, 58" wide steel load bars, molded fenders, 8" high-speed tires and a 2" receiver with lift handle. All parts and workmanship are guaranteed with a Five Year Limited Warranty. Assembles in 3-5 hours with common shop tools. Detailed assembly instructions included.

Item was as described. Arrived in four separate boxes with all parts and pieces present. Was easy to put together and took just under 3 hours to do by myself in the driveway. Solid trailer, tows and backs easy behind my Rav yet light enough to move around by hand while loaded. I used my own J-hooks instead of the ones that came with the trailer, setting the supplied hooks aside in case I need to haul more than 2 boats. If loaded correctly I believe one could fit 3-4 kayaks on the trailer. You will need a 2” ball, and there was a pigtail for amber tongue marker lights, but nowhere to mount them and those lights were not provided. I just zip tied the front end of the wire harness to the tongue (the wire runs through the frame and comes out by the hitch), leaving enough loose to plug into. All the supplied lights work perfectly. I’m going to add a cargo box to carry paddles, life jackets, fishing gear, etc. Had difficulty registering because seller did not include a bill of sale in the paperwork, only the title. I recently bought and assembled an Ecolight 2 Boat J-Rack trailer package. I was confused about the flat four pin connection and posted a critical review. It looked like four female plugs. However, since then a service representative contacted me and set me straight. I was wrong and I deleted the review. This is a new review: I really like this trailer. Just took it out for the first time yesterday with two kayaks. Trailed great and eliminated having to hoist two 50-plus pound kayaks over my head to a roof rack after coming in tired from several hours on the lake. It is just what I needed. ... show more

We use it to haul two regular sized kayaks. It’s easy to load and seems durable. Our trailer license came off and I would definitely recommend double reinforcing it. Overall it was good for the price.

Seems to be a pretty sturdy trailer! Haven't had the opportunity to use it yet with kayaks, but plan to within the next two months (Winter is still here in Colorado!). Definitely took time to put together and I also added a few additions (kickstand, spare tire, etc.), but be prepared to spend 3 - 5 hours at least and have wrenches and sockets! The only negative feedback I have so far is what others have posted about the ground wire being too short! I went to U-Haul and purchased a 4-Wire Extension (48" in length) that will do the trick, but it would be great if Malone included something similar because the ground is way too short for almost any application IMHO. I'll come back after having used it a few times to update this review, but for now, I'm satisfied overall with the purchase. Initially purchased the J-rack package for two kayaks, then added a kayak bed for a Hobie Outback. Much easier to load and unload then a roof rack option. The trailer is super light so it’s easy to move when not attached to a car.

We purchased this trailer to transport our kayak, and it doesn't work with kayaks (or atleast kayaks of our's length). Supremely disappointed, do not recommend. I wish that the trailer's length limitations were listed.

I needed a light-weight trailer to tow with my Tesla Model 3. The only realistic solution was the EcoLight. I had a Stealth Hitch installed and then spent nearly 6 hours assembling the trailer. The end result was better than I expected. One improvement I recommend is ordering regular-length Rack Pads from Watersports Warehouse or another supplier.
