  • Excellent, multi-function rack. Excellent, multi-function rack.
Color: Black
I bought this rack becuase I am no longer happy with the vertical rack I bought for use on the back of my 5th wheel RV. And since I had a trip planned where only one kayak would be needed I pulled the trigger on ordering this one. The package arrived quick and when I opened it I found it all nicely and securely packaged. Instructions were good and I probably spent a total of 20 minutes putting this together (taking my time and doing some other things in between). Once assembled i took it out to my truck to install the base and then to insert the rack into the base. My truck is tall, so I still had to use a step stool to get everything put on. The rack fit perfectly and I opted to the external u-bolts over the T-slot since this was not something I planned to leave on the truck fulltime. Once on i confirmed what the instructions said - you really need to put some force on it to extend it when empty. You need to pull out and down at the same time, which requres me to step up on something for the "out" part of the motion. If I just stand below it and try to pull down it will not work. This is not a problem for me. I know I have a tall vehicle so it's the price I pay. The last thing I did while installing was to put two large rubber strips on. They have a strip of REALLY THIN doublesided tape. Once installed the rack sat for a while. Later that day I had to go somewhere and when I got hom I saw that the two rubber strips had been ripped off by the wind. I think some thicker 3M VHB might have held better than what's on them. Aside from this the rack was fine. Loading and unloading a kayak made this thing 100% worth it. No more standing on something and trying to get it on top of my truck and then trying to secure it. This let me put it on and secure it while at a good, easy level. Releasing the latches and letting it swing up to the roof were the easiest part of loading it up. It was nice to be able to have this secured on the roof while still being able to tow my RV and it was also nice to not have the kayak on the back of the RV blocking my rear-view camera. Over the initial 2.5 hour trip (each way) the rack and kayak held securely and other than the expected added wind noise (even with no kayak) it was all good. I did reach out to the seller asking about a part number for the two strips that were ripped off. The initial response was great, but after my 2nd message I haven't heard from them in a few days. It's nothing major and does not impact the overall functionality. I've temporarly put some other rubber strips on there while I wait to receive a response. One thing that led me to get this rack over a competitor (that costs twice as much) is that this rack isn't just for kayaks. With the t-slots on the two main rails I'll be able to use my bike racks if I ever want to take my bikes somewhere and can't use the bed of my truck. I believe they have a basket that will work on this rack too, in case I ever need something like that. The added functionality swayed my decision in this direction (in addition to the price - not saying this is cheap becuase it is not, but I didn't want to pay almost $1000 for a single use rack). If you're on the fence about this item go for it. If your vehicle and not too tall and you can extend/close standing on the ground your experience will be better than mine. I still give it 5 stars in spite of the rubber strips not holding. I hope to be able to replace them once I hear back from the seller. ... show more

  • These things WORK!!! Review from a newbie. These things WORK!!! Review from a newbie.
Color: Gray
First off, definitely make sure you read the instructions slowly. It will take about an hour to put the frames together and attach to the car, and then another hour to get the pull down mounts assembled and slid into the rail and secured. Be patient because it’s worth it. These seem to only work with roof rack systems that have a center slot that runs through the channel. That would allow you to slide the rail mounts into the channel seamlessly and then position where needed. The quality is great. I got the gray rails because my wife and I were able to purchase two separately and get the discounts. But these things are more than worth the money. My wife and I are both a little over 5 feet tall, but loading, securing and raising was kind of a breeze. Out tandem kayaks are big, and when I put the first one on it seemed to sag too much, but the system handled the weight well. I would suggest the company create or recommend a series of tie down anchors for newbies. These are our first kayaks. Other reviews mentioned the straps that came with which were sufficient, but pro level straps purchased separately through Tooenjoy would be great. Pictured is only one tandem Lifetime Kayak because my wife was getting impatient and wanted to leave. Plus, our kids are still small and between our very large tandem kayak and her old paddle board we were set. But two large kayaks can definitely fit if you purchase two as we did. Here’s a tip: when you slide the actual lift portion in the slot, to let the rail release to prepare to load a kayak there are two discrete, black levers at the front that you pull down slightly to disengage the lock. Once disengaged, they slide out easily, and if your rails are even, the fit is really smooth. But unless you disengage the rail will not pull out. We carried the kayak on our 2016 Mazda CX-9. Trunk was fully accessible while loading the kayak and while it was on the roof. I could have also transported our paddle board if needed because this thing is so versatile, but I bought a pump to make inflation and deflation a BREEZE. ... show more

  • Off kilter when mounted.
Color: Black
This appears to be a well made and well designed product but I had a problem with it. It was easy to assemble and the pictographs were easy to read. Once mounted on the car the rear release handle would not work. If I juggle it with a lot of force it will open but when the mount is drawn down it does not easily lock on that side. I tried to move the rack back on the car side rails, move to the other side of the car, loosen and retighten bolts and anything I could think of to fix without doing obvious damage to the rack. When the rack is off the handle moves well. It looks to me like an internal latch is misaligned slightly and not releasing easily . It's hard to describe without photos. So, I have a dilemma. My plan is to return it and buy another and hope the next does not have the same problem. ... show more

  • TOOENJOY Kayak Lift makes it Easy and Safe to load kayak. TOOENJOY Kayak Lift makes it Easy and Safe to load kayak.
Color: Gray
The TOOENJOY Kayak lift makes it much easier to load my kayak on top of my truck. I now feel confident that I can do more solo kayaking because loading the kayak is a one-person job. It is well-made, and heavy-duty. I like to remove the top part of the rack when not in use. You roll it out, and it is easy to release it and roll it off, but you have to be prepared because it is heavy. I have not noticed any increase in the noise level. ... show more

  • Good design but testing and quality control lacking
Color: Gray
I spent a lot of time assembling this product only to be disappointed upon getting it onto my vehicle. I found the upper section binding on one side when inserting it into the tracks already installed on the roof. With the addition of some grease and tapping with a rubber mallet it went in and began sliding smoothly. Once in place, I pulled down to put the unit in the position to load a kayak. When all the way down it’s suppose to “click” into place. My unit clicked but failed to stay in place. The so called “safety levers” did nothing. The rack just kept going back up unless you held on. This isn’t how it’s supposed to work. After much time and work getting to this point, I’m returning the product. Amazon generally makes returns easy. You take to UPS and they take it from there. Not so on this item. You are responsible for disassembling the system and packing securely into a box. It says UPS will otherwise charge you. This is the first time I have encountered this approach on Amazon. It’s bad enough it didn’t work, but now you must take more time to disassemble and repack. This approach to returns reflects poorly on the company. I doubt I’ll be buying any TooEnjoy products in the future. ... show more

  • Clunky initial setup, but quality product overall Clunky initial setup, but quality product overall
Color: Black
I got this mainly for my wife, who has rheumatoid arthritis but also wants to be active. Plus it helps save me after long days. We have a Chevy Traverse that sits really high, so this seemed like the best option. Building it was a little confusing since the directions had an illustration that said to keep the logo facing out, only thing is, the part in question didnt have any logo or sticker signifying left or right side which can been seen in the included pictures. Once I was able to figure that out the rest was a breeze. The whole thing is heavy but it can be broken down into two separate pieces that are relatively light. Though I am 6’1” and can lift 50 lbs really easily. So user experience may vary with that. I will have to buy the TooEnjoy cross bars at some point, but it’s fine for now. I like that it is built from strong steel. And it looks really nice and quality. I did struggle getting some of the rubber pieces on but after adding a few drops of dish soap it slid on the rest of the way no problem. So far I would definitely recommend ... show more

  • Well Built, but too high to load and not wide enough for me Well Built, but too high to load and not wide enough for me
Color: Black
This is a well-made product, and I have no complaints about its quality! Assembly was straightforward, and I was able to put it together and attach it without needing any additional parts, despite what another reviewer mentioned. A tip: when taping the rubber to the back of the bar (there’s nothing needed for the bottom), use double-sided tape. Be careful, though—only peel off the tape cover and not the entire adhesive layer like I did. I was really excited about this rack because I was hoping to avoid buying another Thule Hullavator Pro. It seemed versatile enough to be used for bikes and other accessories. Unfortunately, it just didn’t work for me. The TooEnjoy Elevate Lift Assist Roof Rack doesn't lower enough. I'm 5'6" and still had to lift the kayaks almost to shoulder height! You can see the height difference in the comparison photos—it’s significant. It’s too high for me. If I’m going to lift the kayak that much, I might as well use a traditional glide rack and load from the back. Additionally, my wide Pungo kayak didn’t fit well on this rack, so if you have a wide kayak, this might not be for you. I ended up switching the kayaks around, and while the Dagger Stratos fit fine on the TooEnjoy rack, the Thule Hullavator Pro easily accommodated the wide Pungo. Another point to mention is the padding, or rather, the lack of it. There’s virtually no padding on the TooEnjoy Elevate Lift Assist Roof Rack, which was noted by several other users as well. For reference, I'm using this on a 2024 Subaru Outback with Thule ProBar Evo 150 cm / 59" roof bars, Thule Evo Flush Rail, and Thule Kit 186157. There’s plenty of room for two racks, whether Thule or TooEnjoy, and plenty of clearance. After a few tries, I’m confident neither will hit the side of the car—just remember to fold in the mirrors, just in case! ... show more

  • Ease and functionality. Ease and functionality.
Color: Black
This is my second purchase of Toonenjoy kayak rack. I needed this for my jeep, while my husband has the other on his vehicle. First off it takes time putting together about 40minutes. Pay close attention to directions. Once assemble on car, we had an issue at first with locking once pulled down, but what you need to know is you have to click lever down slide out, lift and pull it down with some force and it will lock. To unlock pull back lever and slowly lift into place. Since I had chemo and radiation my strength deteriorated, but at 65, an advid kayaker, I have found this so helpful for loading and unloading. A little force will lock it into place. ... show more
