Love these J bars, I had a difficult time getting them on the roof rack. Not sure if roof racks have different heights, or if the type on my Rav is just lower to the roof. It was hard getting the bolts and black screw on knobs on, due to the height issue, finally got them all on. Very sturdy. They might have to stay on through the winter, I'm not going through all that again. Definitely a great product, glad I purchased these!

Generally good kayak racks that now allows me to put two kayaks on my roof instead of just one. These also provide a little extra support for the kayak laying flat on the racks. They're a little on the small side, it seems like, but they may be at a standard size for these kinds of racks. They come with plastic-winged nuts that are meant to allow hand loosening and tightening, but I'm honestly not convinced they would be sufficient to keep these from shifting around. I went ahead and semi-permanently attached mine by torquing the standard nuts onto the bolts. This actually eventually caused the metal plates to warp slightly and wrap around the squared roof bars, yet the racks still shift around a bit somewhat loosely on the bars. All that considered, I think they'll still work. The install was easy and they don't make anymore noise while driving than my standard bars would be themselves. Hopefully they will hold up to rust over time.

I purchased this kayak rack to transport my kayak safely and to prevent inadvertent damage to my water toy! It is very durable and solid! It looks very sleek and easy to install and remove. The functionality is great also. It can also carry other large items kayak-shaped, but I mainly use it for my kayak. The instructions were a bit ambiguous , but I was able to interpret them pretty good. Overall a great product and great bang for the buck!

Awful, don’t waste your money. Returning original rack AND the replacement. Not only is it a pain to assemble, but there are two different sized nuts which do NOT fit the bolts provided. Initially thought it was just the wrong hardware, but the replacement had the same issue. Save yourself the time & hassle. Go to REI and buy a quality J-rack instead. I rarely write negative reviews, but in this case felt compelled to warn potential buyers. Only gave one star because I couldn’t submit with zero!

We had to get a second pair for our kayak and this one works exactly like the other one and is fairly simple to setup and put on the roof rack. The straps that were delivered with the product are way too short for a normal sized kayak (we got 10 foot kayaks of a name brand) and I had old straps that were long enough. Would not by this item again for that reason.

I bought this for a friend of mine for his birthday because he likes to go kayaking. He needed something to carry it a lot easier. He installed it and really loves how easy it was to install. It's very secure, and the functionality of this thing for the price of it is totally worth it. I didn't want to spend a few hundred dollars on a kayak rack so I tried this one. I'm glad I did.

You get what you pay for. These got the job done and for the price they worked fine but I already want a nicer set. I have two pelican catch mode 110 kayaks and I have the amazon basics crossbars on my crosstrek. These held well enough, I just wish the the bars were a bit taller for my kayak. The bars rotated on the crossbars while I was trying push the boats up. I had to start over after I tightened the bars and sprayed a bit of water on them to help them slide up. The nylon was missing from one of my lock nuts so that was unfortunate. I don't understand how cheap a nut you have to be putting in your kits for that to happen. Lock nuts aren't expensive, trust me I know.
