The installation is very simple. It has a page of illustrated instructions on how to assemble it. It can be a little difficult at times because you have to put on the rubber boot, but it is still very easy to install as long as you have the basics and a wrench. The package does come with a mini wrench, but if you have your own, by all means use it. The quality of the product is great, and while we haven't used it on the highway yet, we were able to drive the kayak across town without any problems. This was the first time we have added kayak holders to our vehicle. The middle bolts are long winded which makes it tedious while putting them on. However, once they are on there they are on there to stay! I feel comfortable putting both kayaks ok top of my Yukon!

First, the racks do not clamp well to my Thule rectangular crossbars. The padding is not durable at all. Expect only a couple uses from it. Spend more on a better more durable rack if you require regular usage.

The media could not be loaded. Had my car parked on my property with my kayak mounted getting everything ready for my kayaking trip. We had about 20mph winds, went inside my house to fill my cooler and came back outside to my kayak halfway off my car and the cheap metal bottom bracket bent loose. My kayak only weighs 65lbs, under half of what these were rated to hold, I would not trust these on the road at any decent driving speed based off of them bending while my car was parked. I also even upgraded the mounting hardware with stainless steel screws and nylon lock bolts as they expected me to use normal bolts that would definitely rattle loose over long road trips, the actual j piping seems decent enough for a heavier kayak but the bottom bracket that sits under the roof rack is just too flimsy. ... show more
