I’ve used a pair of J-bar roof racks for our 2 kayaks onto of our Toyota Sienna. Installation is quick and tool-free on factory crossbars, and the padded J-cradles hold the kayaks securely on their sides, lowering overall height for easier loading. They provide good highway stability with proper cam straps and bow/stern tie-downs, and the build quality has held up well to weather and regular use. They offer excellent value for casual paddlers.While they perform well for weekend trips, they show some flex on rough roads and produce noticeable wind noise above 65 mph. Adjustability is limited, and straps are included I recommend adding extra padding, always using bow/stern lines, and checking tightness after the first few miles. Overall, these J-bars deliver solid performance at a budget price—ideal for most users. I’d buy them again for our needs. ... show more

The j-bars themselves are sturdy and fine but do yourself a favor and get better quality cam buckle straps! The ones it came with were pretty flimsy - we used them long enough to get to the hardware store and buy sturdier ones.

I originally ordered these because they were more affordable, but I ended up returning them because I just didn’t trust the quality enough to hold kayaks securely on my roof. The materials felt cheaper than expected, and once I looked at them more closely, I didn’t feel confident driving with kayaks attached. They may work for someone else, but for me, the quality didn’t feel sturdy or reliable enough. I purchased this kayak rack to transport my kayak safely and to prevent inadvertent damage to my water toy! It is very durable and solid! It looks very sleek and easy to install and remove. The functionality is great also. It can also carry other large items kayak-shaped, but I mainly use it for my kayak. The instructions were a bit ambiguous , but I was able to interpret them pretty good. Overall a great product and great bang for the buck! ... show more

I originally gave this a one star review and said it was unusable with the nuts and bolts that came with it, but this isn't accurate, the issue was poor instructions and user error. I came back and changed by review because it does work, but it's not great. There are no instructions, just a one picture diagram that caused my initial issue with the product. The J-tube supports are much smaller/shorter than I have seen on anything else before. I had purchased better separate straps and am going to have to go buy longer ones. The bolts are longer than they need to be, too long for a standard ratchet socket, so I had to tighten them 90% with the ratchet then finish with a crescent wrench. That said I just had it out for a 60 mile round trip where I was driving 55 MPH most of the time and everything worked and was secure, and it is cheaper than most of what I am seeing out there, so if you are looking for a budget option that works and are willing to put up with the issues this is the product for you. ... show more
