So far I give this 5/5 stars. I will update the review if any issues occur but it had no marks/nicks on arrival and appears stronger than I expected. Very easy to assemble. I have a lighter also high quality bench but I can tell this one is sturdier. The red paint is durable/resistant because I did bump this against other metal kinda hard and no marks occurred. It does not move or rock at all when bench pressing. I could see people complaining about the bench being thinner and lower height than expected for. I bought this bench because of the awesome reviews regarding how sturdy it is. My older boys are starting to lift to help with sports performance and I wanted a sturdy bench to prevent any failures or injuries. I also plan on using it myself. The base is definitely sturdy, and as I was assembling it I was thinking how well made it was and I was happy I had decided to buy this bench. However there were two obvious issue I noticed as soon as I tried it the first time. The first issue is that the padding of the bench is tapered at the bottom end of the back piece. It's also tapered on the "seat" piece, but it's the back piece that I have the problem with. I really find it important to keep my spine as flat as possible when doing a bench press, so I like to bring my feet up and rest them on the bottom of the bench so that my back doesn't arch when I put my feet on the floor. But this taper causes a slight arch in my back because it's right where my tailbone wants to be, even when I bring my feet up and set them on the bottom of the bench. Second, when I tried doing a bench press the padding moved side to side under my back and made my lift very unstable. The padding feels firm and its not something you notice until you put weight over your body. It's possible the padding is too thick which allows it to have too much side to side movement even when it is compressed. I really love how sturdy the base of the bench is, and I hate leaving a negative review, but the padding issues are a deal breaker. ... show more

    • Sturdy and feels quality.

After a deep dive into specs and zoomed in pictures, this is the one I chose. It assembles super easy and works great. The height is 3”-4” lower than the one that came with our Marcy smith machine and is a much better height for women to be able to have their feet on the ground. I think it’s actually a standard gym height and for some reason the Marcy one is just very tall. One warning is this quick adjust system is more finger pinch able than the pin through a square tube style but much easier to adjust. Just give a warning to younger users about watching fingers. The wheels are a must for a system that requires you to remove the bench for certain exercises like a smith machine. ... show more
