This is not a small box. So make sure you have a good spot for it. The ease of emptying is great just slide out either way. Very nice! I wish it was like my other in features, like weight of cat and how often they go, but it is very easy and my senior father can empty it. I've had cats in my household for more than 20 years and I've never seen anything like this. I have done the scooping litter routine forever, so when this was touted as a hands-free item, I jumped on it. Basically, this is a see-saw inside of a cylindrical contraption that is quite large and obscure. You fill the bottom with litter and after the cat does its business, it rocks the see saw and the clumps go to the bottom of the box. It's only hands free because you are not scooping litter. However, you must place a bag at the bottom to collect the litter and throw it away. In essence, this is just a huge litter box that should be cleaned periodically. Although this was easy to put together, it is still made of hard plastic. If you do not clean the inside, it will start to smell no matter what. This was a pricey item that is really not worth the hassle. I'm ok with the old-fashioned litter box because this was just too large and cumbersome.

Ii was a little nervous to try this out since it's not a brand I'd heard of, but I figured we could always return it. No need! We have 4 cats and getting to replace one of their litter boxes with this box has been such a game changer. Two of our cats use this box almost exclusively because even though we scoop every day, this box is clean every time. It's so easy to set up, the app is fun - it even weighs your cat! We like seeing how many visits the box gets each day. The self scooping and UV disinfecting have worked flawlessly for over a month now and our box gets at least 4 visits a day. The used litter bags are so easy to clean out. They even give you the bags you need plus these little deodorizing thingies. We absolutely LOVE this box and it only took our cats half a day to get used to it and start using it! My only gripe is that it's not easy to refill the litter because you have to do so through the front entry. I've found that the kind of litter that comes in pourable jugs is easiest.

We have 6 cats and previously had 5 litter boxes. So keeping them clean is a big job. I have seen several ads for self cleaning litter boxes but put off getting one. I finally took the dive and got this one. I'm really glad I did! It is heavy but that is good because it is solidly made. The cover just sets on top but is held in place with magnets. Once in place it doesn't move around. Putting it together was very easy and only took a few minutes. There were a few items scattered inside that need to be pulled out like the power cord, roll of litter bags and 2 fragrance packets. You just put the base where you want it then set the inner bin in place. It can only go one way with the opening at the front and the back with the large toothed gear rim towards the back. Then you set the top on. The waste bin is in the back and slides out either right or left. You need to put a litter bag in that and them secure it with the plastic frame which also has a slot for the fragrance packet. Then plug in the cord and you're all set. The inner bin has an insert that has a plastic frame and a silicone rubber pocket. This is where the litter goes. On mine that had come loose inside the bin and it took me a while to figure out how it goes back in. I found there are some little nubs inside the bin that the frame snaps into but it still took me a bit to get it in place. Once I got it snapped in properly it was very solid and won't come back out. All of this is explained in the included user manual except for the litter frame. Once you turn it on it rotates the bin a few times until it gets it to the proper upright orientation. It also goes into pairing mode but you don't have to use the app if you don't want. Once the bin is lined up properly start scooping litter into the bin up to the max line. Let is set a while longer and it will start spinning going through a cleaning mode that also levels out the litter. At this point it is all set for your cat to use. There is also a litter catching mat that sits on the floor in front of the litter box. It has a button on the front to force a cleaning process (1 press), run an empty litter process (2 presses) or enter pairing mode (hold for 10 seconds). The button also is lit up and shows the mode it is in and any errors by different colors or flashing. Solid green is the normal ready mode. I wasn't going to download the app but it gives you some additional capabilities. These include turning off the button light, forcing a cleaning or empty litter sequence. It also lets you activate the ultraviolet sterilization sequence. It shows history of when a cat enters and leaves and how long they were in there and also how much they weigh in kilograms. I didn't see a way to change to pounds. This is handy to know if your cats are using it, for how long and if they have different weights you know which cat is using it. You can also set how long after the cat leaves that it starts cleaning. It can be set from 1-15 minutes with 1 minute being default. I changed it to 5 minutes just to make sure the cat was completely done and gone so it didn't scare them. I have only been using it a few days and so far only two cats have used it as I kept the other litter boxes out. I'm going to start removing the old ones one by one to see if that helps them be more curious and hopefully try it out. Last comments: It does have a mode that if there is resistance when it is cleaning that it will stop and go into error mode. This is important for the safety of your cat. There isn't really anything they can get caught on inside but it is just another safety feature. I use regular clumping litter and it seems to work just fine. I have been unable to find replacement litter waste bags. They are skinny and long so they are completely different from the litter liner bags for regular litter boxes. I think if I can't find any that old plastic grocery bags would work fine though. It comes with a roll of 20 bags so you've got a little time to try to find replacements.

We have three cats and each one took to it differently at first. A few weeks in they watch it turn and clean with curiosity and are comfortable using it. I find because the tray slides out sideways (either side) be sure to have enough space to remove the drawer. Had to do a little reorganizing to make the extra room in our laundry room and reaching to the back to remove the tray and put it back is a little challenging . Also we couldn't get it connected to the app (could be user error - not sure )so left it plugged in instead into an extension cord as there is no plug. .. something to keep in mind. It is easy to take apart and clean and dumps the litter into the tray when pressing the button twice. I hope I don't do this accidentally as a one time press just does a clean cycle but not a litter dump. It is hugely time saving as I find with 3 cats it I clean it only about once a week. The only issue has been the insert where the litter is placed. It clips in and twice now it has come loose from the clips and shifts to the left side in the box and the litter pours down to the bottom of the unit. The only way to correct is to dump all the litter.
