- USES: This high temperature board is used to repair or build combustion chambers or fireboxes in oil, gas or wood fired boilers and furnaces. Commonly used to make target walls, front plates and floor insulation. Can be easily cut with a knife or hacksaw. Can be drilled or machined. This product also has many other uses including wood stoves, forges, kilns and evaporators.

I installed a fireplace mantel. I'm a mom and grandma, and don't have any experience in building or mantel installation. After the installation was complete I found out that the mantle had to be raised up11" from the opening for every 2" it stuck out. I was not going to undo all my work so I found this board rated to withstand high temperatures. I affixed it to the bottom of the mantel and it has worked wonderfully.

The boards crumbled! I live in Florida, and I can only assume it was the humidity that caused them to weaken and crack and crumble. I am so disappointed... I have to buy something else now, as they are now unusable.
