Long lasting, will stain you and everything you love

The color when it's fresh is deep black with barely a hint of blue highlight in direct sun, but when it's washed out some it's that beautiful deep navy I wanted and that shade sticks around for a long time before lightening up more. I don't know if it's because my skin and hair gets oily fast but every time I wash it bleeds dark blue, even a month later. With some precautions I don't have to scrub the tub every time I shower, but if you're not careful it'll stain everything.

Beautiful color, horrible skin and shower staining.

So this color is really cool but I have mixed feelings. It starts a real dark inky blue black and as it fades it gradually turns into this really pretty and vibrant cobalt blue, my issue is when I rinsed it in the shower it stained my skin for a couple days. Not the typical where it was sitting it stained, that is fine, this however was anywhere it ran down my body was quickly dyed blue. Smurf transformation aside, it took a ton of scrubbing to clean the walls and floor of my shower. Real pretty color, even the fade lasts long though I do notice it doesn't grab healthier hair especially at the roots but blends pretty nicely. (I have medium brown hair and don't bleach prior.) So it's a lovely color that lasts but be prepared for some ridiculous clean up.

So gentle and pigmented

I absolutely am in love with this color and dye. I've used other vegan dyes and have experience some scalp irritation but haven't with this. The color is super rich and pigmented. It helped cover the horrible red dye I had. Will be repurchasing.

Not great

The smell is great, the container is small and I worried about even covering my hair which is just past my shoulders but thin. It did the trick and I coated my hair, waited the suggested time, just about 40 minutes and rinsed. 99% of the color just went down the drain. I got out and dried my hair and could barely see color. I’ve never had this issue with manic panic or artic fox. I will stick with those brands from here on out. Bummer cuz I loved the color - magic shadow a lot.

Vibrant Healthy-Looking Color!

My hair is brown, I know. But I’ve used manic panic plenty of times before and it’ll tint at the very LEAST! I’ve tried lunar tides before back in 2021-2022 and it screwed up my curl pattern! This time it really nuked my hair and my hair usually is incredibly soft and I just got a trim so there’s no way someone could say it’s dead or split ends. I don’t use heat or dye my hair often. I thought to try it after seeing a tiktok of someone with similar colored hair and dyed it with LT without bleach and got a tint especially on the sun…I guess not I should’ve known better. It screwed me over once and now it’s screwed me over twice. Now my hair is damaged and dry where I applied it.

I’ve ordered from Lunar Tides’ website awhile back and it came securely packaged, although it took a week or two to arrive. I wanted another color from them, and thought that maybe if I were to order it from Amazon, it would arrive faster. Not only was the delivery delayed, but it came with the dye blotched EVERYWHERE. I don’t really understand why because it is still covered with plastic and seem to be sealed decently—but the product having no sort of thing to prevent it from moving around and arriving half-finished was something I did not appreciate. I have yet to try this specific color yet, but from my previous experience I personally liked their other pigments and the longevity of them. Next time for sure, I will only be ordering from the website, even if I were to wait a little longer.

STAINS *everything*

Didn't like: * stains everything. Bathtub, pillow, towel, shirt, sink, my hair. * The color by itself. Alone, without conditioner or diluter, it looks harsh. Like it's TOO pigmented, in a flat way. If you mix it with conditioner and put it in damp or wet hair, it looks better, it has more shiny color and less flatness. It lasts a good while, because of how it stains. I tried shampooing it to lighten it up a bit because of how harsh and flat the color came out to, like 6 times and it barely faded. So if that's what you want then this would be the right product for you. But if you color your hair fun colors, you most likely change it every like 3-5 months and colors that stain make it very difficult to go to another color after.
