    • Exactly What My PS5 Needed
Capacity: 4TB Style: NM790 w/ Heatsink Pattern: Gamers
This was exactly what I needed to prepare for the next wave of PlayStation 5 games. Installation was quick and easy, and it immediately gave me the extra storage space I was looking for without sacrificing performance. Everything runs smoothly, games load quickly, and my PS5 stays quiet even during long gaming sessions. It's great knowing I have plenty of room to download new releases without constantly deleting older games to free up space. The performance has been reliable, the quality is excellent, and it works exactly as advertised. If you're running out of storage on your PS5 and want a dependable upgrade that's easy to install, I highly recommend this. It's a worthwhile investment for anyone planning to expand their game library. ... show more

    • Unbeatable Performance and Steal of a Deal!
Capacity: 2TB Style: NM790 w/ Heatsink Pattern: Gamers
I’ve been running the Lexar 2TB NM790 NVMe SSD (w/ Heatsink) in my home NAS setup since I bought it back on November 25, 2023, for just $94.95. Looking at current storage prices, I still can’t believe the insane value I got for this level of speed and capacity! Key Highlights: Reliability: After running continuous workloads in a 24/7 home server environment for months, this drive has been rock-solid with zero errors, thermal issues, or stability hiccups. Incredible Speed: With read/write speeds up to 7400/6500 MB/s, it handles high-bandwidth data transfers effortlessly. NAS & UnRAID Integration (Ease of Use): It was pure plug-and-play. I use this drive as a high-speed cache pool in UnRAID, and it chews through heavy write operations, docker containers, and temporary file transfers without breaking a sweat. Boot Speed / Responsiveness: While I use it specifically as a cache drive rather than an OS boot disk, given its lightning-fast read access speeds, I have no doubt it would make a system boot almost instantaneously. Software: Since it's deployed inside an UnRAID environment, I don't use the native Windows management software/dashboard, but raw system reporting and SMART monitoring work flawlessly. Power Consumption & Temps: Extremely efficient. Even under sustained loads, the integrated heatsink keeps temperatures well within optimal limits without drawing excessive power. Final Verdict: Whether you're building a high-performance PC, upgrading a PS5, or running a demanding NAS cache pool like me, this drive delivers flagship PCIe Gen4 speeds and exceptional reliability. Easily one of the best hardware purchases I've ever made! ... show more

    • Becoming More Of A Fan Every Device
Capacity: 4TB Style: NM790 w/ Heatsink Pattern: Gamers
I've slowly been using Lexar more and more through the years. I haven't used them as my main brand for important things, but I have been trying them out for secondary devices or backups to see how well they function. Over the past five years, nothing has broken on me, which is why I decided to get this drive to put inside my desktop for my PC games. This is a Gen4 NVMe drive. I won't reiterate all the specs, but it is a DRAM-less drive, and substitutes HMB (host memory buffer) as the cache instead of being on the drive. This makes it a little slower, but you get the benefit of a lower operational temperature. For me, games already load and run fast, and having it be cooler was better for me, personally, as an IT guy. I prefer things to last longer than be faster and burn out. So far, this drive blazes. The heatsink looks nice, even though I won't ever see it in my desktop, and anything to help reduce heat is always a plus. However, if you get an NVMe with a heatsink, if you decide you want to turn it into an external drive, you have limited options when putting it in a portable external drive, at least currently. I had debated getting a plain drive without a heatsink, but it was actually cheaper to get it with the heatsink at the time of purchase. Overall, this NVMe was quick to install, easy to partition, and has been as quick as the Samsung 990s to use. Recommended. ... show more

    • Great & Easy Storage Upgrade for PS5
Capacity: 2TB Style: NM790 w/ Heatsink Pattern: Gamers
Works as advertised one of the more cost effective options for a PS5 storage upgrade. Read Write performance comparable to onboard storage. Upgrade process was surprisingly easy. Great experience overall, highly recommended. Sony's website has the installation video for all PS5 versions but generally it's sliding /popping off a plastic panel removing a small metal door with a Philips screwdriver seating and installing the drive in the port and reversing the process to seal it up. PS5 will need to format it on fist boot and you will need to choose / move installed games from the onboard storage to the new drive. I haven't noticed any difference in load times between the two so you may as well re-direct all new game installs to the new drive. ... show more

This is one of the best M.2 SSDs I own. As a first time M.2 NVMe SSD owner I'm glad I made the switch to these types of SSDs as I also own a 4 TB Samsung 990 Pro with Heatsink for my gaming PC. The Lexar NM790 not only gives my PS5 great performance loading times are 10x fast. I only have to wait 11 seconds from the title screen into the game for Assassin's Creed Valhalla. in the Console storage I had to wait about 50 seconds sometimes even 60 seconds. It's easy to install as well. Remove the bottom plate. Take the SSD medal cover off remove the screw in the standoff space. Install the SSD and screw the screw at the end of the SSD. Put the medal cover back on the SSD housing. Put the bottom plate back on the PS5 and you're done! It takes less than a minute to install! This bad boy can hold about 50 games on your PS5. Buy it, you won't regret it! ... show more

    • Great drive but wider than standard
Capacity: 4TB Style: NM790 w/ Heatsink Pattern: Gamers
This is a very good drive at a somewhat lower price than other brands. One thing to be aware of, the heat sink makes it a bit wider than a plain nvme drive. This may prevent using 2 of them side by side on certain ITX or MATX motherboards.
