Once you clone the drive, Windows 10 may need to repair...
Style: 2.5" SSD Capacity: 2TB
Cloned 1tb of a 2tb standard SATA, to this 2tb SSD. Cloning took 18 hours, but that's just the dock speed. Once installed, the drive booted up, but Windows 10 reports an error and needs to do System repair. Just let it do it. Most likely repairing MBR and info stored on SSD misidentifying the drive. Once the repair finished, system rebooted and works great. Now, I plan to keep using this 2013 Dell Inspiron. Will run older games like Neverwinter Nights Diamond, Baulder's Gate, Dungeon Seige, Roller Coaster Tycoon 3, and the like. Also runs M$ Word, Scrivener, and various writing software easily. Also use Photshop CS6 and Corel Paintshop Pro without a hitch. The laptop is not built for gaming, so I was surprised it ran these games functionally well. Loads so must faster and is ready within 35-45 seconds of boot up. The older Western Digital standard SATA often took 1-2mins to boot up, and then another 15-20mins of 60%-90% HDD usage resource hogging to complete and update everything, before I could even load my writing software or do anything. As stated before this is up and running within 45sec to 1min of boot up depending on updates. Will buy another one soon for my desktop and wife's laptop. ... show more

Well pleased so far
This drive is used in an external USB enclosure to move large files from one computer to another and store temporary backups for reinstalls. My impression as of right now is that it is a very nice and inexpensive drive that performs well. The drive does everything it should as a portable backup. Reading from a platter drive to this 256 gig LEVEN my write speeds start at 110MB\s and stabilize between 78-85MB\sec or 640mb\s on large file transfers through a USB 3.0 enclosure and 3.0 hub, which I consider excellent considering the limitation and bottlenecks between the two drives. Setup was a 30 second process. NOTE: In Win-10 the drive will NOT show up in File Manager until it has been initialized (no Plug-n-Play) so go to Drive Management and let Windows initialize it for use. You may be prompted to select MBR or GPT. I used GPT but either will work. However, if you are planning to use this as a Windows boot drive in an older machine that does not have UEFI your will have to use MBR. What's in the box? The drive and that's it. If you are building a PC or adding the drive to an existing system you will need a SATA cable and mounting hardware. Overall I'm 100% satisfied with the performance and price per gig. I've never heard of this company and info on product reliability is a minimal as their website at this time, but it has a 3 year warranty and I have no plans to keep any critical info on it so the risk is acceptable for my needs. ... show more

Received a used drive with someone's data on it.
Style: 2.5" SSD Capacity: 4TB
Review Image by tjbender tjbender
I was burned once by Leven on another of this exact same SSD, which had terrible read/write speeds out of the box. As slow as the hard drive it was going to replace. Still $200 for a 4TB SSD is hard to pass up, so I gave them another shot. Bad idea. Upon pulling the SSD out of the box, the first thing I noticed was that the sticker sealing the box looked like it had been pulled back and then resealed. Opening it up to pull out the disk, I found that it was scratched up, almost as if it had been used already. The real fun started when I plugged it into a PC. I have a policy that I do not plug new-to-me drives into my main PC until I've checked them out on an old laptop running Linux first. That way, if there's anything on them, my PC isn't affected in any way. Anything like, you know, someone else's data. Yup. The first thing I noted was that the drive was already partitioned, which is very much not normal for a new-in-box disk of any kind, including M.2. Then I opened up the contents of the SSD and, yep, there was someone else's data. Out came the SSD, and after I got done having a conversation with a very sympathetic Amazon service rep (Amazon--make it easier for us to talk to them! Your reps are great at what they do!), I have a QR code ready to take this drive to the UPS Store and get it out of my life. So if you're keeping track, Leven sent me a visibly used drive with someone else's data on it. This is the second one of this exact drive that I'm returning to them, the first for poor performance, the second for being a used drive labeled as new and a hazard to my computer's health. I ended up just buying a 2TB SSD from a better brand instead, because I can always add another one later. Between my experience and the many reviews of mislabeled, slow drives that die in a few months on this page, I'd say just avoid this brand altogether. $180 gets you two 2TB drives that you can RAID, from a very reputable brand. $200 from Leven gets you 4TB and a stolen identity. ... show more

Great storage value for home NAS
Style: 2.5" SSD Capacity: 2TB
Using 2 of these in RAID 0 (striping) in a Synology NAS DS220+ for 4TB total storage. The files on this NAS are backed up regularly, so I'm not too concerned for data integrity, but I figured, it's likely safer to use SSDs this way than mechanical spinning hard drives. Spreading the writes out over 2 drives (rather than JBOD) is a better option then JBOD. But again, I maintain proper backups (on site, off site, and cloud), so if a drive fails, I won't be down long. Plus, it's just personal backups and media, nothing business/mission critical. Obviously, these are completely silent, which is a HUGE bonus as NAS hard drives are super noisy and the NAS is right next to my desk. The constant HD crackling noise was driving me insane. Since I don't have ethernet in my house, my only option was to upgrade to SSDs and thanks to these drives, 2 TB is finally affordable for the average joe. Installation was as easy as could be and after creating a new storage pool on my NAS, it's up and running like a champ. Bonus points to it increasing the speed of Synology DSM (the OS of the NAS) significantly. Only been a few days, but I've already written multiple terabytes to them striped and it's all running well. ... show more
