Used this on a Volvo XC-90 Plug-in Hybrid Recharge. Specs at max 16 amps allow for max of 3.6 kW, so this one at 3.84 kW was all we needed. With an 18.8 kW battery, charging time should be about 5 hours. Ordered this charger as the price point was good as well ($130 after sale price and $20.00 coupon, plus tax) - it was probably the least expensive that we saw, but with the features that we needed. Used this with a 16-50 to 6-20 adapter and plugged into a 240v 16-50 RV outlet at the back or our house. Cords seem to be of good heft. The plugs fit tightly. Unit turned on, I did not change the settings, and the J1772 connector to the car also fit fine. Car recognized the Level 2 charging as well, and calculated out the charge time at the appropriate 5 hours. Charged well, did not overheat or get hot, shut off charging as expected. Have not used the timer feature yet but will soon. It would be nice if it had mounting features, but for the price, we can deal with it sitting on the ledge next to the outlet - might try to construct a holster of some kind to place it in on the wall. I did not yet measure the length of the cord and unit to see if together it is 25 ft, but it is long enough for where we are using it. If needed, can always get an extension cord. For the price, this is worth it. You can get fancier units that might look better or do a few more things, but ultimately this does what it should. I'm satisfied with this purchase. I will say that we live in CA and won't be dealing with temps below 30 degrees much and only with rain for a few months of the year. For us, keeping it dry should not be a problem, so I'm not really concerned about the water resistance and can't comment on it (we'll be keeping the unit itself covered and out of any rain). We also will not likely be using it in the heat of the day when the temps go to 110 degrees, but will be keeping watch on how it does in the heat of the summer. and will update if any concern noted. ... show more

It charges quicker than my previous charger and doesn't get hot. I like that the adapter comes with it. I saw the reviews about the UL listings and thought I could deal with that. But I wanted 25 feet of length of cord, and it is NOT. Also, no feature to hold the unit to the wall or screws spots to keep it attached to the wall so it just dangles. WHICH is not good as it will dangle out of the outlet and become a fire hazard. This is overall a good product but could easily be a 5 star. For the price it was worth it ... show more

Our new Kia EV6 didn't come with a charging cable (go figure), and the dealer said that they didn't have any in stock, but that they were around $800 and maybe we could find one at another dealer. This cable seemed like the right solution (adjustable amps for our old house wiring, and both level 1 and 2 capability). The car charged fine, if slowly, on level 1. I installed a 220V outlet in the garage, and it's charging well on that too, easily replenishing the battery overnight. Longevity? Time will tell. ... show more

Not UL listed... the seller has no shame it seems. Both "EV HOOD" and "OMT ORION MOTOR TECH" appear to be registered trademarks of an "Asteroid Trading Limited" in Hong Kong, so it is presumably all one company. The product looks nice, and the configurable current is a handy feature if you want that. It does cut off the charge if the EV ever tries to draw more current than what you have configured, which is a good thing for the designers to have done, although that does mean some of the current values might not work with all vehicles (but this would be that particular model vehicle's fault). The feature to show the measured accumulative kilowatt-hours should have been a great feature, but I'm finding the count intermittently resets right at the point when the EV finishes charging. The seams on the rectangular unit's plastic enclosure have some give, and I'm not sure that I'd trust it outdoors in the rain. ... show more
