    • Simple cheap level 2 charger
I have a Plug in Hybrid which takes 15 hours on a 120 volt outlet. I installed a outdoor RV outlet panel with a built in 50 amp plug along with a 120 volt GFCI outlet, both protected by a breaker. This plugged in with no problem so I could leave it plugged in outside. The safety instructions say not to use the plug or control outside, but the specifications and testing indicate it should be perfectly safe to leave it outside. It has been outside for a couple of months now. Its rated for 32 amps, but my car doesn't need that much, so it ramps up to about 25 amps and stays there for the 2 hours or so that is needed. Occasionally i have gotten an error on the car after pulling it and once on the control panel. But it may have been a power disturbance or some other issue. It has not tripped the breaker or locked up the control during the almost daily charging. The RV panel is not GFCI protected, as the state of NY is still using 2017 Electrical code, and 240 volt outlets are not required to have GFCI protection, so i cannot say if it has an issue with occasional failures due to tripping GFCI. ... show more

Came with tape all over the box. Then the cable was all scratched up. Plugged it up and does not work at all. No lights, sounds or anything. It looks as if it was used. Straight return.

This is a good charger for our EV. Had to get a special plug installed and a 40amp double breaker in the panel. It is easy to use and has good setting options plus keeps track of charging time. Only minor complaint is you can’t turn it off while not in use, but can unplug it. We use it at 32amps and the wire gets warm (not hot) and also the warms the garage which might be a bonus in winter. ... show more
