This was installed in a separate room off the car port where my outdoor cat sleeps. Once installed I showed her how it works and since she follows me to feed horses, I walked away to see if she was able to get out through the door. 2 seconds later she was right behind me. It took all of 30 seconds for her to understand how it worked. You can tell she loves having it as she goes through it even though I open the door and I think she feels safer in her "room" than prior to installing this. Compared to some of the others that cost at least $20, this door has a few minor issues: - The locks slide too easily and I'm probably going to have to stick them down with something so they don't accidentally interfere with the door. I don't need to lock this where it is, so am not too worried about it, but I'd say the locks are probably the main problem with this. - Speaking of locks, the air blocking bristles on the edge of the door get caught up on the latches when unlocked. This can prevent the door from completely closing. I solved this by using a razor blade to shave these off around the latches. - Rather than both sides of the door screwing together with each other, this door relies on both sides of the frame being able to screw directly to wood. Sometimes this isn't possible due to the material (which may not be wood), and sometimes it isn't desirable if the wood is somewhat warped and tightening down the frames warps them slightly. Overall this door is OK, but has more issues with it than more mature (and expensive) products. I wouldn't recommend it for any serious location like an outdoor entrance directly into the central heated/cooled area of a house. ... show more

We converted a large deck box into an outdoor cat house. We cut out holes on each side and used these cat flap door inserts. they are absolutely wonderful, my cats love them, and use them with ease.

We put it in a bedroom door and the clear door sticks open. I did so because I have a window open and this is to keep bugs out when the cats are going into the cateo or back inside. Thus, I have to go check every now and then ad hand close the door.
