  • Compact, light and fast
I’ve had this for about a week and works seamlessly with my 2023 MacBook Pro via Thunderbolt 4 port. It’s fast and mounts quickly. A definite upgrade from my 5 year old Western Digital. Transferred +200GB directory in minutes.

  • Good design, but also not somehow :D...
This has been a great product so far, but I have some major gripes with the design... It looks really cool and seems to be well-designed to protect against bumps and drops, but the hard drive comes in three pieces: the hard drive itself, the USB-C cable, and the "cap" that covers the hard drive's USB-C port. These are three separate pieces that really only should be two: the hard drive and cord. It seems inevitable that I am going to lose the cap... Also: the white "pouch" the product comes in does not seem to have been meant to be permanent, so you have at least 2 if not 3 pieces to this hard drive without a means of ensuring they are kept all together... So while hard drive looks cool and functions great (so far), the design IMO is kind of poorly thought-out. I only harp-on about this, because the design of the product is so heavily marketed, even applying a specific designer's name to it and touting how "good" it is. ... show more

  • Easy to set up.
So far, so good on the transferring of data. I've had LaCie external drives before and all of them have held up well.

  • Garbage!
Bought it in Feb 12th, the 4 TB Lacie SSD and today is August, I haven't plugged it in for 2 months after using it and it's not working properly. It's giving me 2 MB/s speed write, and I cannot even get to read tests because the writing test doesn't finish, it just freezes. I wasn't sure what was going on when I tried to do initial transfer of 300 GB which would take less than 10 minutes but it said 8 hours and froze. I tried other wires and other connection ports. I reset my computers. Same issue. It'll work fast for first 30 seconds then it's locked at under 2 mb/s. It's 3.5 GB full out of 4 GB. I can clear some space but it loads forever for me to even get to the media I wanted to delete. I have never had this issue for 10+ years with other products, even HDD passports. Crazy. Do not buy, buy SanDisk SSD, I have so many and they all still work, even after dropped. Lacie wasn't dropped once, It was kept safe in the shelf because it has valuable NFL content for my clients and now I can't use it. Super disappointed with this first time try and not worth the money. You are better off buying HHD off brand. Or maybe I just got lucky getting a defect? But I don't think so considering it was working great for few months until I stopped using it for 2 months until I needed to get back for more projects. I tried going on Lacie website and they make you go through a hurdle to try to find contact to reach out. Once I found the page, it kept loading and never finished, basically I cannot contact them, also freezes on contact page, the final contact button is just loading non stop, I tried Safari, Chrome browser and they all do the same thing, just like this drive, contacting was useless. There goes my $400 investment. Update (Feb 15 2026): I tried formatting it multiple times. Some attempts finally got me somewhere. But read/write speed is not true as advertised still. ... show more

  • Worth the cost
This item is durable and easy to use. It comes with different storage capacities and I have a 1TB and a 4TB which I use for home and office work respectively. The model I purchased works quickly with regard to downloading items to the drive. It has the ability to set up folders/partitions which makes it better at keeping files organized. ... show more

  • NOT reliable
This is the second LaCie Rugged Mini SSD that has failed me. As a photographer, I need a reliable HD to use multiple times daily. The first drive lasted 1 year until would not connect up to any device. The second LaCie quickly failed by duplicating itself with a program and could not be resolved. I tried loving and using the device but have jumped ship and have gone with another brand that will hopefully be more reliable and easier to work with to resolve issues. ... show more

  • It's fine, just not the specs they said.
Um.... 2000mb/s ??? No... not even close. Where are they getting this figure from? I'm getting 900s consistently. It works... but come one now.
