Description

The SmartCode touchpad electronic deadbolt is a one-touch locking motorized deadbolt. With your personalized code, you can enter your home with the convenience of keyless entry and the one-touch locking button illuminates to provide increased visibility. SmartCode is easy to install, program and use, and operates on 4 AA batteries. It also features SmartKey Security as the back-up keyway. This single cylinder deadbolt can be locked or unlocked by using the keypad or key from the outside as well as the turn button from the inside. I installed this on a house I have been remodeling for a friend. The homeowner wanted a 10 key keypad as opposed to a 5 key. Better security in mind. The unit installs well and is actually rather intuitive. I like the Kwikset Smart key feature. He has an Airbnb and needs to be able to change the lock at regular intervals. Sorry Mr. Locksmith, but you have just been preempted by a machine. I guess that is a common occurrence these days. The finish does not show dirt easily and the lock pad lights up in the dark if you push the lock button first. Be aware though, this is just the deadbolt assembly, you still need to get a handle for the other door opening. There are lots of good options on Amazon for this part. Since this is a Smart Key deadbolt I would highly recommend you get a Smart Key handle too. If you accidentally lock the handle or someone else does and you don't have both keys alike you may be pounding on the door like Fred Flintstone after he puts the cat out yelling WILMAaaa! ... show more

Perfect as expected from the brand. Super easy to install especially in our case where we were replacing a Kwikset lock with this combination lock. We considered fancy your locks that supported Bluetooth or fingerprint access but ultimately opted for something simple. A prior lock that we owned from this company had fewer buttons each mapped to several digits. This worked well because the buttons were larger and easier to press yet there was still sufficient entropy in the code to prevent someone from casually guessing the combination. This lock has a separate button for each digit and as such the buttons are considerably smaller. However we seem to operate it just fine and I have to assume our seven digit PIN is far more secure mapped to 10 buttons than it would be with half this number. All very academic since we don't have anything anyone would want to steal in the first place! ... show more

This keyless entry deadbolt lock is perfect and easy to install. I have it set to automatically lock after 30 seconds. I might consider extending the time period because of my 5 year old. I don’t want to tell him the code because I don’t want him announcing it to the neighborhood. The re-key process to program it for use with my current kwikset keys was so easy. The instructions are informative and easy to follow. I will most likely purchase another one for my patio door. I no longer have to worry about hiding a key outside or leaving with a neighbor in case I lock myself out. Got this to replace a Kwikset keypad deadbolt we installed in 2019 as it doesnt auto lock anymore. The build quality between the two is drastic. This new one it's like the pins the gears ride on have a lot of slop and bind when motor tries to lock/unlock. For $100 bucks excpected a working lock and one not made with $10 work of parts.
