I was looking for an added safety feature to use on my front door while I am inside, especially while I am sleeping. This one caught my attention, especially the fact that it is small enough to travel with. But don't let its size fool you. It is very sturdy and, when properly installed, it will be nearly impossible to push a door open. I was very surprised when I read the reviews and saw many saying it did not work. The site also stated that this is a frequently returned item. And yet I took a chance and ordered it. This is an amazing product and I believe I know why many say it does not work and have returned it. THEY DID NOT INSTALL IT PROPERLY!!! I know because the first couple of times I tried to install it it would not stay in place. So I continued trying until I finally figured it out and installed it correctly and securely. So here are my step by step instructions of how I installed it successfully. (Take a look at my photos) And you do not need any tools to do this: The box comes with the jammer, a key ring of rubber spacers, an additional base part that needs to be used for doors that have a high clearance and a handy carrying case. 1) On the ring find a rubber spacer that will fit snuggly at the top of the door. You do not need to remove them from the ring. In my case I used 2 together to fill the gap. The reason for the rubber spacers is to hold the alignment of the door in place as the jammer pushes the door from the bottom. Insert the spacer at the top of the door on the opposite end of were the door where the hinges are (On the opposite end of where the hinges are, this is crucial). 2) Make sure the the screw base end of the jammer is screwed all the way in. 3) At the bottom of the door, on the opposite end of the hinge area ( again, crucial), insert the jammer. The L shaped bracket of the jammer goes beneath the door and it must be held firmly and flush against the door while you turn the base screw. This is where the installation goes wrong, if the bracket is not held flush against the door! I just held it in place with my thumb. The L shaped bracket needs to be held in place while you do the next step. 4) Now slowly turn the base screw. The screw will begin to press against the floor at the same time is presses the jammer into the door. Keep holding the jammer securely against the door until the base screw will no longer turn. Now remove your hand from the jammer and try opening the door. If you have done it correctly that door will not move a centimeter and the jammer cannot be pulled away from the door. The negative reviews and the returns of this item could be easily eliminated if clear and concise instructions came with the product. There are no instructions provided for the end user. I had to sort of figure it out on my own. I have seen more and more of this practice in the last few years. You receive a product and have no idea on how to use it. The Seller ends up getting lousy reviews and the items keep getting returned. Us consumers end up passing up on possible good, useful products because the reviews say it does not work. And the reviews say it does not work because they do not know the proper way to use it. It a vicious cycle. SELLERS, INSTRUCTIONS, SEND US INSTRUCTIONS. It is a shame in this case because this jammer really, really works and is the perfect solution to the added safety and security I was looking for. I bought this to use when I travel. I wanted to give myself a little bit more safety while I am in my room asleep. Out of all of the similar devices that I have seen for sale, this one seemed to me to be the easiest to put on the door and take off. It also seemed to have the highest number of quality reviews, which is something I always look for when purchasing a product.. The device seems to be well made, and from what I have tried at home, it’s easy to install and take off. It also is able to maintain the door secure without slipping or sliding. I have not yet used it for travel. (I plan to do it later this year.). However, if the tests that I have conducted with it at home or any indication, I think it is gonna work just as I intended, and as advertised. ... show more

As a solo traveler, this device provided a little extra security and was not complicated to use after I figured out what I was doing wrong. Basically slide the foot under the door and press the back vertical piece at the hinge so that it’s flush against the door, then screw down tight. The foot doesn’t need to be perfectly flat to work. Traveling in Italy for 3 weeks last year and Portugal recently for two weeks (different hotels every 2 days) only one hotel could not use this device since the door bottom was flush with the floor. It worked on wood and carpet. During my stay, I’ve had maintenance knocking on my door and other hotel workers. This just helps with making me more at ease along with a do not disturb sign. ... show more

I followed the instructions carefully and watched online tutorials, but this product did not live up to its promises. The advertisement claims it will keep a door secure, but it doesn’t even provide a delay in the event of forced entry. It feels like false advertising. I highly do not recommend this product if you're looking for actual security. I don't understand why there are so many positive reviews. The people testing it out don’t actually show or try breaking in in their videos. Honestly, I’ve even got thick carpet, and it still doesn’t work as advertised. ... show more

I picked up the DJ3 Portable Door Lock Brace back in August 2024, and let me tell you, this little gadget has become my ultimate travel buddy. It’s the best thing to happen to my peace of mind since I discovered noise-canceling headphones on a long-haul flight full of crying babies. First of all, the installation is so easy, even I could do it without consulting YouTube. Seriously, it’s like the IKEA of door locks—minus the confusing instructions and leftover screws. You just pop it under the door handle, and voilà, instant fortress mode activated! I felt like a secret agent securing my hotel room, ready to take on the world (or at least the room service delivery guy). I travel quite a bit and I purchased this as an added layer of hotel room security. I got stuck on a trip in a hotel that had exterior corridors, meaning my door opened up right to the outside world. Because it was an exterior door, it's not a little higher off of the floor than an interior door would. Even with the shims it would not install snuggly. I saw this is a huge failure because this was a situation where I really felt it necessary as opposed to a hotel that had interior corridors and that small extra layer of security they offer. Took this with me on a cruise. My husband didn’t come and this helped me feel secure. It def wouldn’t let the door budge. Easy to put on and off. Fit under the cabin door on the cruise and my child’s door. It was super sturdy a hard pull and still no movement from the door
