I’ve been looking for a handle lock like this, and I have a lot of Eufy products that I think work very well. I was looking to replace the Schlage combination handles I’ve had for so long that worked so well, but all of my kids friends know the codes to get into my house. Not that they would use them, but if they shared them, I didn’t feel comfortable and it wasn’t easy to change codes every time that I felt compromised. I was looking for a new handle combination that included fingerprint recognition, and quick code changing options along with temporary codes that would work only once or within a certain time frame and this lock clicked all of the boxes. I have an older home and a dead lock wouldn’t work because the door jams are warped and didn’t always line up correctly for unobstructed engagement unless the door was shut with the same force every time. Anyways, my first concern was with the lack of instructions for door assembly, it took a while for me to look at everything that was delivered for installation and figure out what was needed and what was extra. It’s not hard to install, but they sent extra screws and in my past if you have extra, you missed something. After installation, the app recognized the lock and began showing me the installation process, which I had already completed. You can choose a long code or a short code to unlock the door, 1 digit up to I think 10. Programming the fingerprint is a lot like the old fingerprint programming for iPhones, about 8 different scans, at different angles. New users are easy to set up, and code changes are easy. I’ve used this lock for about a week, fingerprint recognition was a little weak in the beginning but the last three days has been perfect. It learned. It also shows a log of who came in, if they used their code or by fingerprint. My only complaint is there isn’t a way to unlock it for an extended period of time, like if you have guests over for parties or something like that where guests wouldn’t be normally granted access to your home. You can delay the lock, but you can’t unlock it until relock it manually. Eufy, please add this option in future software releases as an option to unlock it, even if it’s for a specific time period. Otherwise, for people in my immediate family, we really like the finger print access this grants, it’s quicker than a code. One note, keep your fingers dry, it doesn’t like wet fingers. ... show more

Why did you pick this product vs others?: The device never worked to begin with. One of the internal mechanisms is broken and will not turn the spindle inside to be able to retract the latch. There is no call center customer service even though they have a number. They’re never available. I’ve been going back-and-forth for days about the issue and they keep asking for the same information. Their product support system is not helpful at all. Update - 08/17/24 Well, after a week long interaction via email and after much troubleshooting, Eufy customer support came through with flying colors and after telling me on 08/15 they will replace the lock, they did! Just got it and the lock works great! Very happy with Eufy! I changed my rating from two stars to five and they earned it! I say buy it if you want it. And I will be buying their other product like the solar camera. Do buy the extended warranty if available. So, this is my second Eufy Smart Lock, the first is the Smart Lock S230 and so far it works. I installed S230 just a week ago from this review and I'm happy with it. However, NOT happy with the C33. The installation was very easy as it fitted right into the door where old Z-WAVE lock was installed. No modifications. The app setup, like S230, was very easy and very quick. Now the not so happy part, the keypad does not work. It will not light up. It will not accept the PIN. The fingerprint on the handle works. But, if I or my family and guest cannot enter their PIN it's just useless. I've opened a service ticket and I'm hoping they can tell me how to fix it and I'm going to give them 72 hours from today. Otherwise, I'm returning it to Amazon. And likely I won't be buy the cameras or door bell. I'll update this review by this weekend. ... show more

This smart door lock is very sturdy and made with high-quality materials. Installation was straightforward, and it works reliably. However, the biggest downside is the battery life—it drains much faster than expected. I had to replace the batteries after just 5 months of use. This lock could not be more convenient. The fingerprint reader works well and is positioned perfectly so you naturally place your thumb on the reader. It has a great feature where you can have it stay open for a given amount of time after unlocked, even when opening from the inside. I use this in my garage as an extra level of security for when my garage door is open. I have it set for 10 minutes and that’s perfect for 95% of my use cases when I go in and out to get things. Great product. My only request would be to update the app to give different notification options for different users. I don’t need to be notified when I use it but I’d like to know when my nonresident users are accessing my door. ... show more

so i had this lock for 5 months and it started losing wifi connection. it was within the 1 year warranty so I contacted their customer service via email. They were very responsive and mailed a new unit to me within 2 days. That is what I call fantastic customer service. in the meantime, i ordered a similar lock from another brand, and realize the eufy lock is far better in terms of build quality and ease of installation. I just hope the wifi function lasts more than 5 months than the original defective lock. we shall see. ... show more
