  • I wish there was a 6th star. Honestly one of the best products I've gotten on Amazon.
For reference I had Lowe's Iris before it folded, I now have Samsung Smart-things and Amazon Alexa. My house is pretty smart. I've got devices galore from lots of different generations and brands. I have the Schlage Connected Smart Keypad Z-Wave Lever. I'm pretty used to the various challenges of working with equipment like this. In all of my time doing stuff like this I have never found a single item that made me say yes like Meg Ryan in When Harry Met Sally, until now. The order. I generally lean towards sold and fulfilled by Amazon, but the steep review curve for 5 stars and the acceptable window of 3 to 5 days even though I was ordering in the wee hours of a Sunday morning was acceptable, if it was as good as people said. I got it in 2 days after the first day a person could have seen it. I have no gripes there. Amazon level of delivery and that really is the gold standard today. yes... The package. It arrived and the first thing I noticed was that it was HEAVY. Like, is this shrink wrapped bricks? Is it a slab of lead, DU? A brief shake indicated that there was only the tiniest of jingles inside it. Now I was intrigued. I opened the package which was designed and implemented like it held high end scientific devices with everything in its own perfectly sized recessed pocket in the high density closed cell foam. Nested packages were as individualized as made sense. Screws separated by stage of install and door configuration. Stick on protection for any surface of the parts that you wouldn't want scratched. Physically, the shipment, the packaging, and all of the pieces were perfect. Yes... The install. It was much easier than the Schlage. Hard to read instructions, NOPE, super easy to follow video with shots done from angles that make sense for that stage. They even include a QR code if you don't feel like typing the supplied URL. It was so easy and smooth that I really can't say anything about it. If you have a Phillips head screwdriver and thumbs you can do this. Heck, you may even be able to do it without thumbs. Test it once it's installed and you're done. YES... Setup. Now I thought, the real nightmare probably begins. For comparison, with the Schlage, to program anything you really need the home automation side. With Lowe's Iris it was bearable but usually if I wanted to push changes to it I had to demount it and walk it over closer to the hub. It frequently required multiple attempts and sometimes ended up in a worse configuration as it wiped ones I wanted to keep and didn't load ones I did. Smart-things is even worse. Third party IDEs to interface and cobbled together rats nests of code. I use this part to do this, but that part to do that, this one only runs in Classic, that one runs in the new version unless you want to do this other thing then you have to run in classic... That's not the case here. Download one easy to find App from the app store. It's the only one and it's obvious. Again there's a video along with another QR code to get to it. I must confess that I didn't watch it. I opened the App. Login or Register? I guess register. Yup. Phone number, uh huh. SMS code came in, yup. Touch the knob to put it in pairing mode, ok. Oh it's paired and done and I'm in? That's pretty straight forward. Ohhhh... Configuration. Let's see what we've got here. Plainly legible and easily navigable? Pleasantly surprising, clean and clear. I'm tingly. Ok, I see pass codes lets check that out. Standard 3 dot drop down menu add, clear, etc. Add. Permanent. Wow that was crazy intuitive. Finger prints? I could go on, but seriously coming from other systems I can say that it is literally the most clean and intuitive FUNCTIONAL UI I have ever worked with. EVERYTHING is where and how you would think it should be. Everything that can be done with it is simple to implement with explanations available where you might need it, voice prompts, etc... YES YES YES YES!!!! In short, I love it. If you are looking to smarten up your entry control at a good price with no hassle, then you should have what he's having, Sifely. ... show more

  • It works perfectly
Awesome lock so far! Easy installation and a user friendly application, what else can be said. Haven’t used the key fob feature yet since biometric access was my main feature, but I’m actually thinking about purchasing other products from the same line. If I can ask a suggestion for whoever is developing the product, please add a simple door handle with just biometrics and no number pad. This would expand your product line to those who want to have private access to all rooms without the bulkiness of a keypad on every door. ... show more

  • Security risk, door unlocks and opens on its own.
UPDATE: customer service was great in contacting me regarding the troubles I was having and they were extremely responsive and helpful. I did purchase the gateway and that seems to help a lot for my situation. Changed the rating to 4 stars largely due to customer service support. While this lock was easy enough to install, seems pretty solid lock. learning its features and functions is a bit more challenging. Thankfully the fob was easy to program and makes entry a bit easier during the learning curve. However, there has been more than 2 instances where I went to my property and not only was the door unlocked the door was actually open, how does that even happen? When leaving I have checked and double checked the lock after the first time this happened, door is closed, lock is engaged, batteries are new and still this happens again creating a terrible security issue. I have also now purchased the “optional” gateway, but will not i’m not sure the lock will be in the door long enough to even try that to see if it makes anything easier. It is too late to try return the lock I’m sure , but maybe I can still get my money back in the gateway. I have reached out to the manufacturer, hopefully I will get some answers. ... show more

  • Love the convenience of this door lock
This is the second purchase of this product. We had two older door locks from another manufacturer that stopped working after about 10 years I upgraded the back door first and purchased this unit a year later. It looks good on the house and was very easy to install with the provided instructions both online as a video and using the quick install sheet that’s included. We’ve had no problems with the lock we installed in the back so we decided to install this one in the front. The entry feature I enjoy most is the Ekey which requires simply holding a wafer type key against the keypad to unlock it. As far as the battery goes, my older lock had a battery that required disassembly in order to access. I like that this unit has a slide cover which simply slides open to replace the batterie (4 AA’s. Not included). Also, I like the fact that you can image all the settings from the original doorlock to the new one that was just installed through the app. I ran into one issue that was only a fault of my own, I didn’t account for the dimensions of the new lock vs the existing one and I found that the secondary deadbolt lock just above didn’t have enough clearance and it interfered with the installation on the door. The workaround for me was to purchase a filler plate, which I found on Amazon. For us, we mainly use the keypad and the E key for entrance. I did program my fingerprint biometrics in but I find that I sometimes have to press my finger against it several times before I find a sweet spot to open the door. Not a big deal but the ekey makes it so much easier that I use this feature the most. I just keep it on my keychain. I haven’t figured out if there is a way to look at entry history. It was not that important to me, but for other people, it may be a feature they want. Overall, a great value for the money. ... show more

  • If you can think of something you want them to do they will do it.
This is my 4th lock I’ve bought now and they have all been perfect. Installation is easy and with the G2 interface I also bought recently they are all connected to Alexia now. This is a great idea and I’m able to program them all to work with one fob. They are all programmed with my phone with an easy to understand app. The tech support I used has been top notch. I highly recommend these to anyone looking to upgrade. Great quality. ... show more

  • Good Overall, But A Few Shortcomings
First, just in case they are dealbreakers for someone, the shortcomings: 1. I bought this in part because it had a Schlage key system. Unfortunately the lock apparently cannot be rekeyed, per an answer I found on the company's website. That means carrying around more keys if you want a non-electronic backup for entry. 2. You can apparently enter as many wrong codes or wrong fingerprints as you like without the lock creating a timeout. It will, however, create a record of the incorrect attempts. As to the unit itself, it offers a number of ways of gaining entry, including a keycode which can be of different lengths, and which unlike some other locks does not let the user know that it is wrong until they hit the # button (more secure). In addition to the keycode, the fingerprint scanner seems to work quickly and well, two near field tags are provided, unlock from the app, and you can apparently connect it to smart systems like Alexa (optional and insecure). You can also buy optional remote controls, which are similar to small garage door openers. It also offers a privacy button you can hit from inside, which turns off all these "smart" ways of operating the lock (traditional keys excluded), presumably intended for while you're home sleeping at night. This privacy button automatically turns off when you exit through the lock. It does have a way of having the lock stay open for a variable amount of time after unlocking (default 5 seconds), and also of scheduling times of day when the lock will stay unlocked. What it doesn't have is a way of unlocking the door at a given time you may want to be going in and out a lot, but for those with fingerprints scanned into the lock that is a minor issue. Unfortunately the instructions are not great, but they are supplemented by the screw packets being labeled for what step the screws are needed. Also, a second set of screws is provided, although not labbled with each step. One minor nice feature is the inside portion has a backer plate which is screwed in place to hold the outside portion in place. That makes installation slightly easier, and is probably a bit more secure. Also the batteries (4 AA) can be replaced without removing a single screw. Overall this is a better keypad lock than the approximately 15 year old Schlage keypad lock which it replaces. This keycode system is much more secure (Schlage may have updated that since I purchased), and the available fingerprint option a nice fast option to have. The only thing I will miss is the ability to just set the lock to unlocked on a whim, and the ability to rekey the lock. ... show more
