Yes, the smokeless grill is designed to work on all types of stoves including electric, gas, and propane. However, it should not be used on glass top stoves as it might scratch or damage the surface.

Should I Buy It?

If you live in an apartment or lack outdoor space for grilling, this stovetop grill seems like a good investment. Cooking results are akin to an outdoor grill, with a smokeless experience suitable for indoor cooking. Do expect some trial and error for best use, especially on certain stovetops, but overall, it could be a beneficial addition to your kitchen appliances.

  • Very Satisfied!

Very pleased with this product. Delivery was swift. Great product for the price. I received the grill today, took it out of the box, carefully read the simple instructions, washed and dried it in hot soapy water, rubbed the cooking surface with a little oil, filled the ring with water as directed, preheated the grill over MEDIUM heat, on my gas stove (it fit perfectly) and placed my marinated Korean boneless, skinless chicken thighs on the cooking surface. This grill heats up very quickly, and in no time I had absolutely juicy and delicious chicken thighs. My apartment only smelled of the delicious aroma of grilling Korean barbecued chicken thighs. This product actually GRILLS, rather than steams, with the fat running down into the liquid ring ( I like this healthy option), and the chicken had a nice char. I also basted it half way through cooking with fresh marinade. No smoke, no splatter, no mess, no smoke alarms going off in my apartment, no neighbors banging on the door. I didn't even turn on the exhaust fan. I washed the grill by hand, and cleanup was a snap!! Can't wait to try veggies and shrimp next. For some reviewers who had problems with smoking and splatter. Follow the instructions carefully. Do not cook on high heat -- you really don't need to, this grill gets plenty hot on medium. Fill the liquid ring with 1/2 cup of liquid. Do not place frozen food on hot grill, thaw first. If using marinade, drain the food and pat dry before placing on grill surface. Trim excess fat from meat and chicken. Maybe not the best option for huge thick slabs of meat, use your outdoor grill for that. If grilling burgers use lean ground meat. I think this grill works best with boneless cuts of meat and chicken. Pay attention, and do not over cook. Happy indoor grilling. Cheers! ... show more

I'm a big fan of this stovetop grill. My apartment building has the most sensitive fire alarm in the world. I have had it go off when I'm making quesadillas on my stove and I hadn't even burned anything. Since the entire building sets an alarm off in each apartment when one of the smoke detectors is triggered, I was a little nervous about trying this grill. I'm impressed that it did not produce a bit of smoke and the food came out great. You do have to preheat it. The instructions say to preheat until you can hear a "sizzle." I threw droplets of water on it with my fingertips until I heard a sizzle. For the photos I uploaded, I had marinated chicken overnight in a delicious mustard rosemary marinade and it turned out great. I also added some dried rosemary to the water ring and my apartment smelled like rosemary while it heated up and created some fragrant steam. It took about 15 minutes for my gas stovetop to heat the stovetop grill enough to hear a sizzle. Then I butterflied one of the chicken breasts and left the other one thick to test which one would come out better. They take longer than you think they will since the heat isn't concentrated like you get with an outdoor grill. I flipped over the chicken at around ten minutes and they didn't stick at all which is amazing since I didn't use a drop of oil to grease this grill (but there was some olive oil in the marinade). I used a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature and took off the chicken breasts when the meat met an internal temp of 165 degrees. Clean-up was easy. The surface is truly nonstick. The chicken came out delicious with a crisp "crust" on the outside, but truly tender and juicy on the inside. The butterflied chicken cooked faster and got more crisp since there was more surface area. Both came out great! I'm so excited to be able to grill in my apartment despite the sensitive fire alarm! ... show more

  • Great Alternative Grill
Color: Stove Top Grill
I live in an apartment where grills are not allowed. Not even electric ones. I happen to like the taste of grilled foods, and turning on the stove's broiler all the time is just too much added heat in the summer. I had one of these years ago, and decided to look for it again. I was amazed at the range of prices for the exact same thing, so I went the cheap route figuring how different can it be? I was not disappointed. It's a nice sturdy, weighty grill pan. OK, it's not the weight of All Clad or the like, but hey, what do you want for a cheap pan? It's nice that the ring is stainless, and the grill surface is a non-stick coated aluminum. What you see in the picture is NOT what you get out of the box. I was fine with that--although, for the sales/marketing side of things, it's deceiving. Not a good thing. Hence, knocking off a star for that. I feel that what you are being shown should be the product you are going to receive--regardless of the description of it. They say "a picture says 1000 words" and they are right. Show the right damn product for pete's sake. Upload it from your phone camera if you need too, sheesh. I can't say that I was disappointed in the product, but it is a learning curve on it's use. I followed the directions that came with it, as it had been years since I had used one. #1, it IS smokeless. Filling the bottom ring with water is necessary. #2, it fits perfectly over the small coil of the stove. #3, spraying it with a cooking oil makes clean-up a breeze. #4, preheating is an absolute...and it takes a lot longer than you might think it does because of the smaller coil. Preheating it on Med-High gets it nice and roasty, so when you place your meat on it, you get that nice *sizzle. #5, you must turn your burner to High for cooking. It takes a LOT LONGER to cook something than you think it does...again, because of a not-so-great heat source being a good 2"+ away...I couldn't imagine this working on a flat/glass cooktop, but the booklet says it does. I had 2 boneless short ribs that after a good 12 minutes (they were small and I turned them so that each side got a good sear), they were still raw in the center. Raw--not rare. #6, I tossed it in the dishwasher and it came out fine. So, the learning curve is time. It's a nice little alternative to a regular grill, and for those of us that don't have the storage space, a nice alternative to a counter-top electric type. And LITTLE it is. The grill surface itself is 10" in diameter...that makes for pretty close quarters for cooking. Think about the diameter of a dinner plate, and you get a good idea. It MIGHT hold 3 of those frozen burger patties. But for one or two people, it should be sufficient. I'll figure out the cooking times for this, as I don't have much else to go with as I really don't want another one-use appliance to store--and where to store it is an issue with this particular apartment kitchen. It did give a nice sear on the meat, and they browned up nicely as if on a regular grill. I'm curious about additives for the water ring--if they make a difference in flavor for whatever you are "grilling". Might have to get back to you on this... ... show more
