  • Excellent Retro Gaming Drive – Huge Library & Great Support
I purchased the Kinhank 12TB hard drive for retro gaming and was very impressed. The drive worked right out of the box after a quick and easy setup. The games and emulators are extremely well organized and come preconfigured, which made getting started simple. The USB controllers I purchased worked immediately with the emulators, and I was even able to get my Wii controllers to connect and function properly. The game library is absolutely massive and a little intimidating at first, but in the best way possible. My family and I have had a lot of fun playing the games I grew up with—tons of nostalgia and great memories. I did run into a small issue with the drive and contacted Kinhank support. They were very responsive, professional, and walked me through troubleshooting until the problem was resolved. If you do happen to run into any issues, you can trust this company to stand behind their product and resolve it in a timely manner. Overall, I’m very happy with this purchase and would definitely buy from Kinhank again. ... show more

  • Overwhelming is an understament.
I've been retro gaming since the dawn of MAME, but I got tired of hunting down ROMs, configuring everything, and setting up artwork. I was hesitant about this drive at first because I'm use to SSDs—mechanical drives are more prone to failure. That said, this is the first external hard drive I own that uses its own power supply. Maybe that's a good thing? In any case, I'm blown away by the contents. Yes, this uses the Hyperspin Attraction front end, as opposed to the 5-in-1 model. I chose this version because it includes certain games and emulators that the other one didn’t. For example, it supports Daphne, which plays Dragon’s Lair and other classic laserdisc arcade games. Some YouTube influencers complained about having to scroll through tons of collections just to find the game you want, and about the number of duplicates. Honestly, that's common with most pre-configured emulator setups. But here's the thing: you can use the shoulder buttons to jump between letters of the alphabet, and clicking the left thumbstick (I'm using an Xbox-compatible controller) brings up a handy search menu. On top of that, you can go into settings and group duplicate entries (clones), which makes navigation much easier. The amount of content is overwhelming—you'd need two full lifetimes to play it all. From ancient consoles like the Magnavox Odyssey to more recent systems (which I won’t name here), everything is fully organized. Looking at it, I know I’d never be able to set this up on my own in a million years. Almost everything worked out of the box, though a few games may need some tweaking. That usually just means opening the game’s specific emulator and adjusting its options. I had to do this for one system where the controller wasn’t recognized—but it was no big deal. Overall, this is the ultimate emulation setup. Not every system has its full game library, but honestly, it doesn’t matter. There’s already more than enough here to last a few lifetimes. ... show more

  • (BEWARE) Completely NON Fuctional Unit
There is no way to give 0 stars to a product in Amazon, but if they where I would've given that and bellow, just took out the disk and enclosure and connected it to 3 different Laptops I have at home and none of them where capable to read the disk, the enclosure is detected but no disk at all, I then had to spend 1+ hour with an Amazon "Tech" which was giving me "supposed" workarounds and follow them even knowing they where either Google/AI results, I'm an IT guy with more than 30 years experience, but in order to get a Full Refund for something that just "Don't Work" I had to play along because I didn't wanted to pay 1 extra dime on this "Unexistent Quality Product" to say it nicely, now I have to take the time to return this and wait 15+ days to get refunded my $ 340, if you appreciate your time and your money DON'T BUY THIS...... Hope this helps warn others about it. ... show more

  • No GRAN TURISMO?!?!?!
Look I wanna start by saying that this thing is awesome it has a ton of games, nearly everything you could ever want, but I will say I was incredibly disappointed to find it doesn’t have Gran Turismo. ANY OF THEM!!! Okay well it does have Gran Turismo PSP, but come on… 1-4 at least should be here! They were some of the best selling games of their generation! I was looking very forward to playing GT1&2 on this but nope, it’s not there. Outside of this gigantic fault of mass proportions, the unit is awesome and has just about anything else you could want. I was disappointed to see that the Xbox collection is only Xbox magazine and not Xbox so there’s no Xbox games here unless I’m blind. Still worth the money. ... show more

  • Euphoria
Scrolling through this hard drive is a euphoric experience. It has worked flawlessly for me so far. I use it with a brand new $700 mini pc with pretty good specs. It is overwhelming to have the what seems like the entire history of gaming at your fingertips. The only small problem I noticed is that about 1% of the time the menu will show the title of a game but the accompanying screenshot will be from a different game. I’ll update if I encounter any serious glitches, but none so far. UPDATE: The many Doom wads on this hard drive would not run. I think the main iwads are not in the right folder. I solved this by copying and pasting the wads into my gog version of Doom and play them there. ... show more
