  • Fast but won't connect far enough into cellphone while in any of my cases.
As other reviews report, the design of this USB storage device prevents it from being able to fully insert it into my cellphones when they are in a protective case. It does connect without issue after the cellphone is removed from the case. I haven't experienced any problems inserting it into my laptops. The speed of this USB device is so much faster than any of my other USB A or C devices. It is such an improvement particularly when backing up one of my older programs which used to take at least 2 minutes for backups. Now it takes about 4 seconds. I recommend this item & plan on buying more. ... show more

  • 4.5 Stars; Incredibly fast but could use minor improvements
My drive definitely gets the advertised speeds on USB 3.2 GEN 2 port. On a 3.2 Gen 1 port, I get about half the advertised speeds. Still very fast for a small flash drive. Also works well on my phone. This flash drive does get fairly hot, but that's to be expected because of it's fast transfer speeds. I bought this product for around $38. At that price, it was only about $8-10 dollars more when compared to other big name brand 256gb USB C flash drives, but you get much faster speeds. At $38 dollars, I think this drive is fantastic, but I don't think I would buy this product again unless it came back around or below $38. Minor complaints: I wish the case was made out of metal rather than plastic. For a drive that's supposed to retail for $63 dollars, you would think it would have a more premium finish. A metal case would also help transfer heat more effectively than plastic. Also, the design of the case could be better. When the USB plug is sheathed, the plug is still exposed on the back. They really should have designed it so the plug is fully covered when sheathed. Lastly, I wish the USB plug was extended slightly so I could use this flash drive with certain phone cases. Most phone cases will not allow you to fully insert this drive. You will either need to remove your the case or buy a new one that has enough room to insert the drive. (I wouldn't really consider this a design flaw or proper complaint but it would be a nice QOL improvement). ... show more

  • Form factor blocks adjacent USB-C port on MacBook Pro
This USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 drive is fast, portable, and works as advertised. That said, be forewarned that its form-factor will block other USB-C ports on some computers. I have a 2019 MacBook Pro and it completely blocks the USB-C port that is next to the Kingston drive when I have it plugged in - poor design in my opinion. I have attached photos to show the situation. If using an adjacent port is important to you, you might consider another USB-C flash drive option. I also have SanDisk USB-C flash drives that come with a separate cable to connect the drive to the port. Yes, they do use a cable (black cable is shown in the photos) but at least I do not give up a valuable USB-C port when using them. ... show more

  • fast but only at the beginning
This drive operates at the beginning with full amazing speed, then dropped harshly (Maybe because of thermal). But it's enough for me to finish my work before the speed drops.

  • One of the best out of all
Design isn't the best. But if that is not the reason one is looking for a fast thumb drive, This is the best choice.
