I have owned cast iron pots and pans over the years and like them for certain jobs. Cast iron pans and Dutch ovens especially. But I gave many of them away over the years when moving to lighten my load until I settled elsewhere. I bought the ten-incher now to supplement the twelve I already have. It will be easier to manage for a lot of jobs. This one, the ten-incher, has some nice silicon handle protectors I like although one doesn't fit as tightly as I'd like. They'll be good when the pan is used in the oven, too.I haven't used it much yet but I quite expect it will perform as we expect cast iron to do - nice heat distribution and easy cleanup if treated properly. The cooking surface, however, is less than ideal: rather than a nice smooth surface, the surface is "nubby." The entirety of the cooking surface is regular but textured as if with hundred of little b-b's - not that large but maybe the size of those tiny sugar pellets people scatter on cake icing. Still, I am not disappointed. I don't plan to use it for frying eggs or anything that prefers a smooth surface.

The silicone grippers make a world of difference when it comes to handling this pan! The cooking surface was in decent shape out of the box but I seasoned it a few times in between uses over the first few weeks and it’s become my go-to pan for everything. It is maturing very nicely. This is a great value for a cast iron pan and seriously, the silicone gripper things are brilliant.

I like that it is iron and hard to break. I did not like the rubber handles because they burned up the first time I used them. Even heat is not exactly the truth. Better distribution of heat would be more accurate. It is very easy to clean even after stuff is burned into the pan.

Perfect size and glad the silicone handle covers were included, however, ONLY out of laziness, I returned it. It requires too much prep and follow up after use for the few times I’d use it. I would buy it again in a heartbeat as a gift for someone asking for one. There were no issues with the skillet, just the user!

This is very sturdy cast iron pan. It is my first cast iron piece. It leaves grill marks and fat drains away to bottom of pan. I seasoned it in oven according to instructions prior to first use. I clean it after use with a paste of baking soda and water using a gentle kitchen scrub brush. My husband hates cleaning because it takes some time depending on what was cooked in it. He does enjoy the flavor we get from meats cooked in this pan. I recommend buying a nonstick grill pan if you are not familiar with cast iron or don’t like to clean after coking.

The media could not be loaded. Really nice pans. They seasoned up perfectly. The manufacturing is high quality which you can tell the moment you pick them up.If this is your first cast iron skillet, be sure to never use soap and if you clean with water you must dry it. A good way to do that is to wash it gently and then put it back on the stove with heat to dry the water. What I do after this is pour a small amount of grapeseed or olive oil into it and use a paper towel to wipe the entire inside and sides. Get as much of the oil out as you can. Helps with storage and flavor.
