  • I love James!
Why buy an ugly vacuum cleaner that looks an aerodynamic car part when you can buy a good ol' fashion canister vacuum cleaner with a cute face on it? You don't. We had an old upright Hoover Windtunnel from the early 2010's. It was a loud, heavy, and ugly thing. The Hoover mainly sucks joy, and a bit of dust and debris if you go over things a few times. James is surprisingly quiet and has as much better suction than our Hoover. There is a simple adjuster on the handle to adjust suction level. At full suck James can suck up all the debris in cracks of hardwood floors, which was exactly what I needed to deal with random bits of cat litter. It looks like a basic shop vac, but it is much much quieter. It works like a shop vac where everything is a bare minimum. You have to unwind Jame's cord manually. It's not a biggie, and it's just one less automatic thing to break in the future. I have a feeling James will be with us a very long time. Just a heads up that the James I got does come with a yellow cord, and I think it looks much cuter with the blue than if I had the black one. So I'm really happy with it. ... show more

  • Low quality, wand connections are either too loose or too tight
The wand connections are either too loose and falls apart, or is too tight and difficult to take apart quickly. During our first test, on the second stroke on a carpet, the wand separated. The tapers in the steel pipes are improperly shaped. What's needed is a snap approach, not a force-fit. To solve the problem, I had to very forcefully push the pipes together. But now, which you want to change to one pipe instead of two, or take both pipes off, it requires so much force my wife can't do it. We immediately decided to return it as defective. It took several minutes of extreme force to separate the two pipes to put them in the box. Then today I discovered we are being changed a restocking fee of $154.06 !!! This is nowhere mentioned on the Amazon product page. Since the item is defective, this is a rip off. We purchased this for $308.12 on September 28, 2023. Today I notice the price has been raised to $379.00. I wonder if this is because they are now getting so many returns they have to charge more. As an alternative, we went with a Miele Complete Hardfloor Bagged Canister Vacuum Cleaner, C2 Hard Floor, Tech Blue for $499.00. It is much better: Snap wands. Adjustable length wand. Quieter. Six motor speeds. Spring return cord instead of manually wrapping up the cord around the top. A light comes on when the bag is full. The three attachments snap into a compartment in the vac, by simply opening the compartment lid. The vac stands up and the floor attachment slides into a slot on the vac side, for a well-designed storage system. Overall, it's a dream to use. By comparison, the James is a stone age contraption whose only good point is its cute face and name. ... show more

  • best all around vacuum i have ever used
The 400 pound tank from Sears has been banished to the basement. Some have complained about loose hose connections--the connections are very different than we are used to and require an extra bit interposed (which comes with the vacuum) and they work fine. As other reviewers have noted the head works best on the pull back rather than the stroke forward and seems to be designed to. Very light and quite. ... show more

  • powerful, nice wand witha wheel for easy movement of carpet
the downside is the lack of a wind up cord system; you have to roll it by hand... if you can get over that.... this machine (like it's brother "Henry"), is a beast...and I mean that in the best possible way. The 'wand' attachment has a unique wheel at the bottom and glides along short carpets well...the suction is VERY strong ....so strong it makes the wand hard to push! but it cleans DEEP....! I also own a HENRY and that machine has lasted 10 years ....; it too is a HEPA system and they are simply great for construction ....heavy duty work.... Best vacuum for construction bar none highly recommend.... ... show more

  • Good bye cringe inducing noisy vacuum, hello James
I've become sort of in love with this vacuum! I've only ever had lower priced vacuums, but I have live in handicapped family members who have sensory issues, noisy machines being very problematic. Due to issues, I've just ended up vacuuming less and less because of inevitable tantrums. However, I want a cleaner home! I decided to look into the possibility of a quieter vacuum and I was willing to accept various attributes if it was reasonably priced and actually quiet, with the theory that I could reduce the stress of this somewhat small, yet regular occurring issue in our lives. I read "best of lists" and tons of reviews and basically educated myself on vacuum noise. Many typical vacuums have operating volume of 70-80+ decibels and many vacuums advertised to be quiet can be ~65db. This Nacecare James is advertised to be high 40s db!! The $260 price tag feels super expensive to me, but I reasoned that if it truly made a difference, it would be worth it. Also, I found out that this company and this line of vacuums are known for quality and lasting a long time, so I finally took the chance and ordered it. When I first tried it, it was funny, I thought, okay still sounds like a vacuum, but then I sequentially turned this on then my other vacuum and was blown away at how obnoxiously loud the other one was! James, or little Brit blue we've affectionately nicknamed it, has a much more gentle hum to it, almost sounds like someone vacuuming in another room or something. Although it still makes decent noise, the tone is so much easier on the ears compared to typical vacuum that actually induces a slight cringe. And, if you vacuum in another room with door slightly closed, now its really quiet to others in the home. The true test, however, is that it doesnt upset my disabled family members! What a gift this has turned out to be, I really can't fully describe. In addition, you can talk to someone while using James, where as before I'd have to turn vacuum off to say more than yes/no. Now, about vacuum itself, it was developed intended for hardwood floors, but I find it completely acceptable on carpet, as well. It sucks so well, the carpet lifts slightly, which makes me feel like I'm really getting stuff better than before. I dont love that I need to buy vacuum bags, but I do like that once I suck it up, it's not coming back :). The overall set up of canister and long hose need a bit of room to operate, I feel like I've had to adjust a little but my approach to vacuuming to work with this unit, but once I did, I'm totally satisfied with it. I like that the tube screws on and feels strongly attached so that I can tug it along as I vacuum. The cord is super long and I can go through multiple rooms on one plug. I'm also happy that the cheaper in the series was blue, because I didnt really want a bright red vacuum, for example. The smile and face is optional, but to be honest, makes me smile, and it's like the vacuum is happy to help do the job, Haha. In conclusion, I would highly recommend this vacuum and purchasing with this company and through Amazon. It's not perfect, but over-all a balanced attribute vacuum with sound being it's best trait!!!! Thank you so much for improving mine and my family's life. ... show more
