This is easily the most beautiful book I own. The image doesn't really do it justice. The dark, deep, blue leather goes perfectly with the incredibly ornate golden designs on the front and back. These designs really pop in person. The pages are edged in a deep gold and it has a satin pagemarker. This edition also contains, I believe, all 241 of Gustave Dore's incredible biblical plate illustrations that could stand on their own. If you are searching for a Bible that attempts to respect the contents within by quality of appearance and construction, you can't go wrong with this one from Barnes and Noble. ... show more

Now this is what a Bible should be. It's everything I wanted out of a home Bible. One corner of mine was a little bent but I don't care, it likely won't be the first blemish. This will be in my family until I'm gone at least.

Barnes and Nobles has printed several classics in a leather format! This King James Bible of 1611 is included in the set. It is a beautiful Bible that just asks to become a family heirloom! The illustrations by Gustave Dore are magnificent, the printing is clear and the binding is exquisite! As a longtime Presbyterian pastor I heartily approve this exquisite Bible!     • Beautiful Illustrations
I have a 19th c. copy of some of Dore's illustrations for the bible, but it has only brief summaries of the subject matter of each and only 100 illustrations. Many editions up to the present day are reprints of only those 100 illustrations. But this edition has 213 and includes the entire texts of the New and Old Testaments. The edges of the pages are gilt. There are over 1300 pages. The leather binding is beautifully and colorfully embossed on all three sides. The illustrations are smaller but crisper than my old version. This is not the supple soft cover black leather copy of my youth, which had beautiful color illustrations, But Dore's woodcuts are unequalled in their dramatic portrayals among Bible illustrations. Omg this is the most beautiful bible I have ever seen I was so excited when I got it I didn't get a picture of the packaging but it came safely wrapped in foam. Shipping was extremely fast my bible wasn't damaged I would definitely recommend ordering from them. The words are easy to read and I'm excited to study I've been waiting for it to complete my collection. The picture does it no justice. ... show more
