So I like this garbage can because of the dimensions of it. It fit in in the kitchen, exactly where I needed it too. Have not had a problem with the sensor opening, however, it is different than other sensor opening garbage cans that I’ve had. Personally, I like this one more than the ones that go up and down. It may look small and may look like it doesn’t hold a full bag of garbage, but it definitely does. I suppose the only “negative” thing I could say about it is that it does open a little more slowly than the sensory garbage cans that pop up and down But not too slowly that it is annoying or bothersome.     • Amazing little kitchen appliance!

I have owned this product for several months now, and waited to write my review until I saw how it was going to hold up since some of the reviews made mention of the opener going haywire after a while. I am in love with this trash can. It is super convenient to operate, standard kitchen bags work perfectly in it, and I get compliments on it from everyone who goes into my kitchen. The built in odor neutralizer really works, too. I have had absolutely zero issues with this product, and am considering getting one for my utility room as well. I did get the AC cord so that it plugs into the wall, just so I didn’t have to worry with batteries. I was also concerned about it seeming to be a little on the small side, but I swear I can fit more into it than the ugly Sterilite it replaced. Since it’s metal, it wipes clean very easily, and fits perfectly where I wanted it. I had a SimpleHuman at my previous house that I paid about $200 for, plus the bags that had to go with it (since I couldn’t ever find a normal trash bag that fit correctly) and eventually I sold it with my last home. This one is MUCH cheaper, uses normal trash bags, and works as well (maybe even better). By far the best sensor trash can I can imagine getting at this price point. ... show more

    • Good customer service, works as advertised

This looked cool and convenient so we thought we'd give it a try. The lid opens a bit slower than is totally convenient, but it's not too bad. The sensitivity of the sensor could be better too. The real issue though is that the lid lasted less than a month (received 7/14/18). It won't close at all now, just stays stuck open. Tried changing batteries thinking perhaps we just use it more frequently than others, but that wasn't it. Not really sure what the issue is. The red light keeps flashing and it won't close. I've emailed customer support for their warranty service and will see what they say. Hopefully this is just a fluke. Will update as appropriate. Update 8/13/08: Received a response within one business day as promised. After reading through the response, I decided to try removing the sticker as they suggested (fun fact--didn't know it was just a sticker that covers the controls) and to clean under it. That did the trick as the lid then closed. Not really sure how something gets up under the sticker like that, especially in just a month. Hopefully this isn't a regular occurrence as I don't know how long that sticker will last if it has to be removed once a month to be cleaned underneath and then reattached.     • Very flawed implementation

I just purchased this can as a replacement for the previous generation with the lid that flips up. It is a serious, and borderline unusable, step backwards for iTouchless. My family was extremely pleased with the last can. It needed to be replaced when the lid was dropped and cracked. While it was imperfect, it had served us well for a bit over a year. The new can is not worth the money even with the current $20 promotion. The reviewers who mentioned the plastic teeth in the retaining rim are correct. While the bags have not torn for me, this is solely a testament to the fact that I slid my hand into the can to keep the snags from tearing the bag. Clearly this is absurd for a "touchless" trash can. The opening mechanism is weak and slow. I have had the can for three days and it has stopped working a half dozen times (on brand new batteries). I had to move it with my hand to loosen it at which time it would work again for a few more openings. The reviews that mention that standard bags are too small for the can are also accurate. Ironically, despite this, it is difficult to pull the full bag from the can. Overall this purchase was a complete misfire. I strongly suggest you look elsewhere for a trashcan. If the touchless feature interestes you, get the previous version with the flip lid. In the end this model is in no real way touchless. Updated February 3, 2008 Since on occasion viewpoints will change after time has passed I thought I'd update this review. After trying to live with this for several months it is now itself in the trash. Between the near impossibility of removing a bag intact and the unreliability of the opening mechanism we couldn't take it any more. It is one of the worst purchases I have ever made. It is a stunningly poor product. Amazon should stop carrying item and the manufacturer should discontinue it immediately. ... show more

This garbage can is fingerprint resistant, it’s tall and slim and runs off of batteries. It was packaged well and arrived in great condition. It was easy to take off lid and insert 4 “D” size batteries which are not included. The motion sensor can be turned on or off and works very well. Due to small kitchen we had to face the sensor toward a wall to avoid it opening every time someone walks by but that’s not a flaw. It closes by itself. Our dogs wouldn’t stay out of our garbage and now they do. I just turn the sensor off at night and have had no issues. A 13 gallon bag does fit but I also use larger 30 gallon bag as that’s what we set out for garbage day and we always add other garbage to our kitchen garbage so it makes more sense. I love being able to throw away trash and not have to touch the van or try to use a foot pedal and have the van slid away from me. ... show more
